Legendary U.S. metal act Attacker, featuring Overlorde/Morbid Sin vocalist Bobby "Leather Lungs" Lucas, have signed on with Metal On Metal Records. The band will issue its fifth LP "Giants of Canaan" on February 2, 2013.
The announcement reads as follows:
"Metal on Metal Records announced the signing of the US power/heavy metal veterans ATTACKER and the release of their new album 'Giants of Canaan.'
"Mike Sabatini, the band's drummer and founder, commented: 'I just wanted to say on behalf of the band and myself, that we are thrilled to be working with Metal On Metal Records! Jowita and Simone do a fantastic first class job with their releases (no cheap packaging!) and are truly passionate about what they do. That in itself is very important to us, we didn't want to just sign with anyone. We have had a great working relationship with Jowita for several years now with her doing the cover art for our last 2 releases, 'The Unknown' and 'Standing the Test of Time', both awesome artworks. We look forward to nothing but great things to come with our new partners... See you on the road!!!' More...
New Jersey's Attacker is working on forthcoming album "Giants of Canaan," which will feature artwork created by Jowita Kaminska. Jowita comments on the release:
"The Lords of Thunder are back after a short hiatus! New Jersey based legendary power/traditional heavy metal act Attacker strikes with their 5th (and 3rd after the reunion) album, taking no prisoners. All vital ingredients for a classic metal album are on board here: very classic guitar work with genuine mid-'80s feel, mighty galloping riffs, precise, powerhouse drumming supported by thunderous bass.
"And last but definitely not least: the bloody impressive vocal performance courtesy of the new singer, Bobby 'Leather Lungs' Lucas, known from the first two Seven Witches and Overlorde albums. His emotion-filled voice displays a great range, from soothing or chilling calmer singing to aggressive and powerful air-raid siren wails and screams, straight from the school of Dickinson and Rivera.
"Just try NOT to raise your fist or sing along to those songs... if you manage this, you are probably hearing-impaired! All this goodness is rounded up with a perfect recording, well-balanced mix and warm production that steers away from the awful modern digital sound plaguing even some traditional metal albums nowadays. Upstate New York's TMT festival has been temporarily postponed. The organizors have issued the following update:
"Due to an unagreeable situation that has arisen with the venue, we are forced to postpone - TEMPORARILY this event. We are currently spending every waking moment searching for a replacement venue that will satisfy both our needs and please all of the bands and fans. The lack of basic cooperation on the part of the venue is what has prompted this decision. We tried in vain to make every effort necessary, but in the end - they failed us."
"There will be two lineup changes - Forbidden had a problem between management and booking, they decided to play another gig that weekend. Metal Mike contacted us when Sebastian Bach decided to go on tour, this tour conflicted with the concert date. We wish both bands good luck in their endeavors."
New Jersey metallers ATTACKER have announced the addition of Walter Figueroa to the group's ranks. Figueroa is the former lead singer of SEVERED HAND (a band that features Sebastian Bach's son on drums) and he recently did a stint as vocalist for 1980s metal cover band SMELL THE GLOVE (which features SEVEN WITCHES and current JOEY BELLADONNA guitarist Jack Frost). Walter Figueroa has also been involved with hard rock band IMPRECARI and progressive rock/metal band PARADOX (New Jersey).
Walter Figueroa's influences include Geoff Tate, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, and Tony Harnell. These influences can clearly be heard in Figueroa's soaring, powerful voice.
ATTACKER states: "Walter came down and did a fantastic job on the material, so we knew we had to look no further. We had several people recommend Walter to us and they were right on the money. We are all looking forward to working on our new album and hitting the stage as soon as possible."
