King Parrot To Record New Album

Australian thrash grind misfits King Parrot will return to the road later this week for a final run of live assaults on North America supporting Down, Orange Goblin, and Bl'ast.

Set to commence November 29th in New Orleans, the band will steamroll its way through nearly two dozen cities, with the final performance taking place December 21st in Houston. Dispatches the band:

"King Parrot is honored to be heading the round with some of our all-time favorite bands and musicians in Down, Orange Goblin and Bl'ast this December in North America. This is our fourth tour of the region this year and it's been an incredible journey for us in 2014.

"To cap it off on this tour, with these bands, is amazing and beyond what we'd ever envisioned when we started out just a few years ago. As an Australian band cracking into the scene over here, the odds are always stacked against you, but we are keen and dedicated to working hard and it's nice to see some rewards coming about.

"We have our new album written and we're looking forward to recording and releasing it in 2015. It's going to be a big step forward for the band and really shows how much work we've been putting in over the last few years. We're hoping that we can continue to tour steadily and build King Parrot into a regular touring band here. We're confident North America will be seeing and hearing plenty more from us in the next year or two, and if you haven't seen us yet, get down early to one of these shows! It's gonna be wild!" Orange Goblin Announces North American Shows

With Orange Goblin's "Back From The Abyss" full-length now three weeks away from release, the band has confirmed the first North American tour in support of the record.

Set to begin December 1st and run through December 21st, Orange Goblin will return to the stage touring alongside Down, Bl'ast!, and labelmates King Parrot!

Vocalist Ben Ward comments, "I remember being a spotty 19 year old rushing out to the record store to buy the first Down album NOLA the very day it came out in 1994. Now, twenty years on, I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming that Orange Goblin are heading back to North America as main support to the mighty Down.

"It really is fairytale stuff for us. Down are one of the bands that are the reason Orange Goblin exists. To be given this opportunity to go out to promote our brand new album, Back From The Abyss, to the Down fans is just a dream come true the rest of the band and I can't wait to get started. The fact that we also get to see Bl'ast and King Parrot every night just makes it all so hard to believe! Hail the Leaf! Hail the RIFF! Hail DOWN!"

Recorded earlier this year, "Back From The Abyss" reunites Orange Goblin with producer Jamie Dodd; who served as producer on the band's best selling album in North America to date - 2012's "A Eulogy For The Damned." More...

King Parrot Recruits New Drummer

King Parrot has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with the band's drummer:

"After a whirlwind beginning to 2014 King Parrot announce the departure of Matt 'Skitz' Sanders from the drumming throne. Matt decided to move on from the band after a grueling 2 month tour of the US and Asia, and consistent touring in Australia since 2013 was beginning to take it's toll.

"With international touring scheduled for the remainder of the year, the band have been quick to snap up the services of Todd Hansen, best known for his work with 'The Bezerker' and more recently 'Rome.'

"With a committed and dedicated attitude to drumming and touring, Todd is a welcome addition to the King Parrot camp. The band is showing no signs of slowing down and a new album is in the works scheduled for release in the first half of 2015. The band would like to thank 'Skitz' for his time in the band and wish him all the best for his future endeavors." More...

SXSW 2014 Day Four: Spirit Caravan

Saturday, March 14, the roads seem quiet compared to the previous night. Part of this was due to my moving back to Red River Street and away from Dirty Sixth. Everybody seemed tired, and as a publicist opined to me, Thursday morning's crash on Red River casted bad mojo onto the festivities. Whatever the cause, there was no 1001 person to flood a capacity venue. More...

King Parrot Checks In From The Road

Melbourne thrash grind assassins King Parrot successfully leveled SXSW with five scathing performances, including an appearance at this year's Tone Deaf Touring Showcase featuring Spirit Caravan, Iron Reagan, Pilgrim and more.

Comments the band, "King Parrot had an awesome experience at SXSW; total chaos, but all in all a hugely positive opportunity for the band to get out in front the world's music industry and show our wares. The feedback we received from some industry heavyweights was that they enjoyed our show and it's fair to say you'll be hearing a lot more from King Parrot in the future. For now though, we carry on with our extensive North American tour."

King Parrot is currently searing the eyes and ears of North America on a near-six-week run of live ambushes. The band is joined by atmospheric blackened doom bringers, Vattnet Viskar, and stoner death doomers, Vaporizer on select dates.
