Blending hardcore rock, hip-hop, and electronic music, Linkin Park has established a sound that is difficult to classify, but easy to identify. The LA-based band combines provoking rhymes and melodic vocals with neck-snapping beats, vicious guitar riffs, and dizzying scratches.
Formerly named Hybrid Theory, the band describes their music as "a constantly evolving experiment." "Our goal is to bring seemingly distant elements together," says emcee Mike Shinoda, describing Linkin Park's sound and its fan base.
Since its inception in 1996, the band has attracted a diverse and dedicated following. Its grassroots fan base has grown rapidly, fueled by the efforts of hundreds of street teamers across the country, hardcore listeners committed to building Linkin Park. Friends since school, Linkin Park is Rob Bourdon (drums), Brad Delson (guitar), Joe Hahn (turntables), Mike Shinoda (vocals), Chester Bennington (vocals), and Phoenix (bass).

Russian multi-instrumentalist/post-metal artist Senmuth has released his new studio album, "TE-E-MA," which marks his 20th studio album released in the 2010 calendar year. His origins however lie predominately in doom and industrial metal with a healthy dose of ethnic music; whereas his newer albums are more progressive and experimental.
"Senmuth's compositions are musical journeys, expansive trips into history and the unknown transporting the listener through distant lands and ancient cultures. The sheer volume of work that Senmuth creates is staggering, having released over 60 albums in less than ten years of active recording, or making about ten albums per year. On the 31 Dec 1999, no planes came crashing out of the sky, nuclear bombs went off or microwave ovens tried to eat anyone. However, times were about to change and in the metal scene change was already well underway. Let us take a stroll through the decade in metal that was.
Many of the 90s big names like Emperor and Pantera prepared to give their last venomous scream dying off in the wake of ever diminishing interest in the metal scene that had plagued the 90s. In the year 2000 a band named “Limp Bizkit” came out with an album called "Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavoured Water" and in a storm nu-metal took over the public perception of heavy music, changing the face of metal irreparably. Although nu-metal had already been pioneered by Korn, bands like Deftones, Disturbed, Mudvayne and Linkin Park all had breakout releases in 2000. More...
Two of the biggest names in hard rock and heavy metal walked away with Grammy awards last night as British metal legends Judas Priest picked up the award for Best Metal Performance, beating Lamb Of God, Megadeth, Ministry and Slayer, with their song "Dissident Aggressor," taken from their live album, "A Touch Of Evil: Live." Australian based hard rockers AC/DC also scooped the prize for Best Hard Rock Performance for their song "War Machine," which appears on their most recent studio album, "Black Ice" and the forthcoming "Iron Man 2" soundtrack. They were able to beat Metallica, Alice In Chains, Nickelback and Linkin Park in their category.

"Deftones would like to thank all of the incredible artists, sponsors, crew, supporters, fans and friends who made last Thursday and Friday an overwhelming success. The two night event commenced with special sets by POD, Far and Cypress Hill on night one. Deftones opened their Thursday night set with a brand new song 'Rocket Skates' and continued through a show that included 'Elite,' 'Be Quiet and Drive,' and 'My Own Summer.'
"Each night the band was joined by some of Deftones' and Chi's close friends for some special collaborations exclusive to the nights. Night one included Ben Kenney from Incubus on 'Street Carp,' Mike Shinoda and Tommy Lee on 'Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event,' Xzibit on 'Back to School,' Jonah and Shawn from Far on the Jawbox cover 'Savory,' and Cypress Hill joining Deftones for a full band version of Cypress' 'Rock Superstar.'
"Friday night opened with longtime Chi Cheng favorites Fungo Mungo and Will Haven. Special guests on night two included Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Daron Malakian (System of A Down) and Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom) on a punishing cover of Metallica's 'Battery,' an ensemble performance of Suicidal Tendencies' 'War Inside My Head' with members of Suicidal, and Daron, John Dolmayan, and Shavo Odadjian of System performing 'Aerials' and 'Toxicity' with Chino on vocals.
