As the mammoth lineup of audio obliteration continues to expand, the organizers of the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival are pleased to bring Massachusetts metalcore merchants/NEM&HF alumni, Unearth, as well as German psychedelic space rock perpetrators, Kadavar, to the stages!
Additionally, the sorcerers behind the NEM&HF are eager to officially welcome the first annual Best In Brutality Tour to its maniacal three-day ambush. The punishing five-band tour package will level Worcester on Thursday, April 17th and features the co-headlining assault of esteemed deathcore brutalizers, Oceano, and legendary death metal titans, Broken Hope, alongside the combined sonic destruction of Fallujah, Rivers Of Nihil, and Kublai Khan.
Celebrating its sixteenth anniversary, the iconic New England Metal & Hardcore Festival will commence on April 17th and run through April 19th. The currently announced lineup is as follows: More...
The latest round of additions to the continually-expanding lineup for 2014's installment of the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival has been disclosed, including Massachusetts' own '90s hardcore punk act, Sam Black Church.
Confirmed as one of the main headliners of the event's third night, Saturday, April 19th, Sam Black Church's set at NEMHF 2014 will mark only the third performance since the group initially disbanded at the turn of the century, and first in Central Massachusetts since the late '90s.
Stated the band upon being asked to take part in the massive event this Spring: "It is amazing what the man we used to know as Ogre has done with the New England Metalfest! We are fucking excited to be a part of it once again!"
The organizers of the fest comment: "Formed in Boston, in June of 1988 by Jesse "Jet" Crandall (vocals), Ben Crandall (guitar), Richard G. Lewis (bass), and J.R. Roach (drums), Sam Black Church was known for their energetic live performances, playing a frenetic blend of hardcore, metal, and thrash. Over the years sharing bills with bands as diverse as Bad Brains, Clutch, Motörhead, Cro-Mags, Fear, and Helmet, they were one of the most popular hardcore bands in the Northeast United States during the 1990s. After releasing three full-lengths on Taang! Records, they left to join Wonderdrug where they remained until they retired in 2000 after releasing a total of seven albums. Since disbanding, Sam Black Church reunited for a sold-out show on September 22, 2007, at The Roxy in Boston, and played a another sold-out performance at Hometown Throwdown #16 with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones at House of Blues in Boston on December 29th, 2013. A documentary of their career by Duncan Wilder Johnson entitled Leave Behind a Groove in the Earth is scheduled for release in 2014."
Also now confirmed to invade this year's festival are Oceano, Scars of Tomorrow, The Last Ten Seconds of Life, InDirections, and Julius Seizure on Thursday, April 17th, and Reflections on Friday, April 18th. The setup for Saturday, April 19th has also been lengthened with Texas In July, Obey The Brave and the aforementioned Sam Black Church performance. It’s a new chapter for the New Jersey based melodic metal outfit Julius Seizure, as the band announces open try outs for a full time, professional vocalist. The band’s former vocalist Charles Corletta departed earlier this month.
Do you have what it takes to become Julius Seizure’s new vocalist? Send submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org. The band also comments:
“The four original members of Julius Seizure need to add the fifth member to the machine. What we are looking for is quite simple: a talented, humble, hard-working vocalist with a range encompassing melodic and aggressive styles. Prospective vocalists are stepping into a great situation, where they will be able to record and perform immediately. No one in the band is interested in nonsense— bring your lunch and come ready to work. Show up to every practice, do a great job, and let’s tour the Earth. Julius Seizure is a professional band, and we need a vocalist to be on that level.”
Bassist Brian Daniel commented regarding Corletta’s departure: “Charlie is a great friend, and it is never an easy thing when somebody you have worked so closely with for years has chosen to part ways. We wish Charlie only the best in his future endeavors.”
Drummer Kyle Wilson added, “We are not letting his departure slow us down. Julius Seizure will continue to fulfil our commitments to our current schedule while looking for a permanent vocalist. Our number one goal now is to continue to play shows and tour in support of our EP ‘Trials.'” More...

New Jersey based act Julius Seizure has released a music video for new single "Second Coming," which comes off the band's sophomore EP "Trials."
Vocalist Charlie Corletta comments: "My vision for 'Second Coming' was to have the video coincide with the lyrics. I see a lot of injustice in the world. Modern warfare, political and corporate corruption, greed, violence and poverty. These are issues I can not ignore. There is no second coming. We must look to ourselves in order to fix ourselves, not religious or political figures. I wanted people to see the world we live in through my eyes."
The video was directed by Jonathan Robertson of P1 Digital Media and can be found below. Julius Seizure's new EP "Trials" is due out August 20th with an official record release show at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ on August 24th. More...
