Below is our complete Author & Punisher news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Author & Punisher, the one man doom outfit that’s both man and machine, will release "Melk En Honing," the outfit’s Housecore Records’ debut, on June 30th.
The eight-song album was produced by Housecore Records’ Phil Anselmo, who said “Tristan Shone is the epitome of what Housecore Records stands for, and looks for in musical expression: absolute originality and innovation. It is our complete pleasure to facilitate such a fantastic, artistic mind and expression of bombastic works. There is no pigeonholing this man's art.”
The "Melk En Honing" album was recorded at Nodeferatus lair in North Shore, LA. Ahead of the June 30 release, Author & Punisher launches a new U.S. tour, with stops at both Stumpfest and Psycho California, where Shone will provide musical interludes throughout the three-day event. More...
Following crushing performances at this year's editions of the Southwest Terror Fest in Tucson, Arizona and Housecore Horror Film Fest in Austin, Texas, Tristan Shone will bring his sonic decompositions know as Author & Punisher to the streets again for a final round of live incursions to close out the year.
Set to commence on December 3rd in San Diego, California, Shone will level the stages of ten venues, with the audio punishment coming to a ceremonial conclusion on December 13th in Boise, Idaho.
Shone is in the midst of recording the follow-up to Author & Punisher's "Women & Children" full-length, released last year via Seventh Rule Recordings. The as-yet-untitled long player, and first for Housecore Records, is being tracked at Nodferatu's Lair in North Shore, Louisiana with Housecore founder Philip H. Anselmo.
Comments Shone, "There are four reasons to come check out this Author & Punisher tour. First, I will be playing mostly new material fresh from the studio with Philip H. Anselmo. Second, this tour will be painful as all hell, as I drag out a combination of both old and new Drone Machines that I literally have to climb over to get in and out of and will likely ruin me and the underpaid slaves I employ. Third, I will have the double LP of the 2010 Drone Machines album [out on Seventh Rule] on hand with me in the flesh with the machines themselves for the first time. Finally, in what has become a staple of an Author & Punisher show, Cutmod [Will Michaelsen] will be flashing his visual wares in full high count lumens as he has with me for the last two years."

Michigan psyche doom-death group, Acid Witch opened day two on Midway’s outdoor stage. After a night of barely any sleep, I didn’t arrive in time to catch their set. It’s a shame because they were one of the bands I wanted to see. I heard a burst of guitar notes from tech-death metallers Archspire but only as I pulled into the venue. The first part of this day would be spent around the press tent conducting interviews with Napalm Death and Gwar. This included missing most of the set from Polish death metal veterans Decapitated, whose late coming was the apparent reason for Midway being behind on time. The day before their appearance at Housecore the group had totaled their van. I’m not sure how they made it to Austin, but they were there and played a full set. More...

We regret to inform everyone that Norwegian black metal legends Satryicon will no longer be able to perform at this year's Housecore™ Horror Film Festival. The band explained via its official Facebook page:
"Dear U.S fans. We regret to inform that Satyricon will not perform at Knotfest in San Bernardino, CA and Horror Fest in Austin, TX in October 2014. The reasons for not being able to perform at these two festivals are both pragmatic ones and entirely different from each other.
"Satyricon will now shift its attention towards the writing of a new album, re-editing the footage from the 'Live at the Opera' live album/DVD and another project that will be announced at a later stage. It is important for the band that the U.S fans understand that you are far from forgotten and that the band look forward to come over for a full scale U.S tour as soon as it is possible. You deserve it." More...

Following a run of live takeovers last summer supporting Philip H. Anselmo And The Illegals, Author & Punisher sound manipulator Tristan Shone is pleased to pack up his steel and unite with Anselmo and company for another mutinous round of sonic abrasions.
Just in time to ring in the New Year, the second leg of the Technicians Of Distortion Tour will commence on January 10th in Houston, Texas and head westward, trampling through over a dozen cities with additional support provided by Hymns.
Comments Shone: "West Coast: I will be unveiling a new set of electromechanical vocal manipulation masks and devices, never before used during a tour as well as some new and old tracks."
As a precursor to the Technicians Of Distortion trek, Author & Punisher will join the audio antagonists in Corrections House for two special performances in Los Angeles and San Diego. See confirmed live actions below. More...
Today the crypt keepers at Cvlt Nation unearth the second installment of twisted live visuals from Author & Punisher.
Captured during a recent excursion supporting "Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals," The Technicians Of Distortion Tour marked the first time Author & Punisher draftsman Tristan Shone combined abstract film footage with his soul-swallowing slabs of mechanical doom.
The videos merge actual projections from A&P's performance at The Fillmore in Silver Springs, Maryland with additional found footage, effects, and a live feed from three separate cameras mounted in and around the setup for provocative audio/visual experience.

Tristan Shone is now returning to the stage with another live run of industrialized ear lashings. Dates are available after the jump. More...
In just one week Author & Punisher – one Tristan Shone -- will embark upon a 19-date North American trek supporting Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals. Fittingly dubbed the Technicians Of Distortion Tour, the long-anticipated journey will commence July 31st in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Additional support will be provided by Warbeast.
Comments Shone of the upcoming adventure: “I knew I had to step it up when Phil asked me to join this tour...the result is my most ambitious live undertaking. I have worked myself to a bloody pulp soldering, rewiring, building, to make things stronger, louder and more devastating. I also am bringing a small team along with me as well to help with live video streaming, cameras etc. This will for sure be a raucous affair not to be missed...."

Author & Punisher's "Women & Children" full-length wreaks its cold, apocalyptic havoc upon unsuspecting masses today. Check it out at Revolver Magazine here or in the player below.
Called “heavy and disturbing like a nightmare you suddenly wake from but aren't quite sure you fully escaped,” by Metal Injection and described most succinctly as “industrial doom,” Author & Punisher is a one-man project led by the twisted ingenuity of engineer/former robotics major Tristan Shone.
In related news, Author & Punisher will embark upon a North American tour run this Summer supporting Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals. Set to commence July 31st in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the Technicians Of Distortion Tour will charge its way through 15 cities, coming to a sweltering close on August 20th in New Orleans, Louisiana. Additional support will be provided by Warbeast. More...
Philip H. Anselmo will take to the road for his first-ever solo tour, "Technicians of Distortion," which will kick off July 31st in Tulsa, OK.
On this tour, Anselmo will be joined by his back up band The Illegals - guitarist Marzi Montazeri, bassist Steve Taylor, and Jose Manual Gonzalez on drums. Tickets go on sale this Thursday, May 23rd.
The Technicians of Distortion tour is in support of Anselmo's upcoming solo release, "Walk Through Exits Only," due out July 16th (Housecore Records/Megaforce) and will take the group to a total of sixteen markets over a three-week period.
Warbeast, which is signed to Anselmo's Housecore Record label and just released new album "Destroy" (produced by Anselmo), along with industrial doom and drone metal one-man band Author and Punisher, will provide support on all dates.
"It is an incredible pleasure to do my first solo tour with my brothers in Warbeast and to introduce the mighty Author and Punisher to the Extreme Music audience properly," said Anselmo. "This is a killer program of insane variety, so come out and support the gigs!"
The confirmed dates are as follows: More...
Propagated by sound manipulator/engineer/former robotics major Tristan Shone, Author & Punisher relentlessly challenges the traditional principals of doom, industrial, and heavy bass music.
His latest ode comes in the form of “Women & Children,” the title track of Author & Punisher’s upcoming fifth full-length, set for detonation this June. In anticipation of its release, Stereogum is offering up an exclusive stream of the tune here (you can also check it out below).
Describes Shone: “‘Women & Children’ is a sullen voyage from the beginning to the end of time, from primordial bliss to devastating chaos. That's how it feels to me anyway." More...
Following a U.S. journey with A Life Once Lost earlier this Spring, Author & Punisher will ship his machinery overseas for a short run of European live dates.
Scheduled to commence on May 4th, Author & Punisher will ravage his way through the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Belgium and Slovenia before bringing the proceedings to a ceremonial close in Czech Republic. Notes Pitchfork of the project's live experience: “…seeing Shone play his music is a much different experience: He renders these songs using massive devices he builds himself to control an onstage laptop. A bit like a cyborg, Shone grapples with and writhes among his machines, making music that’s not necessarily alien with tools that are.”

West Coast-based Author & Punisher, the long-running, one-man industrial doom project propagated by sound contortionist Tristan Shone, is pleased to announce his fifth and latest creation of audio rebellion. Titled "Women & Children," the follow-up to last year’s "Ursus Americanus: full-length further challenges the traditional confines of extreme music with eight tracks of audio exploration and mechanical decomposition.
Shone elaborates: "Author & Punisher's newest sonic endeavor combines elements of both machines and more traditional apparati to stretch and blur the dynamic palette from doom to industrial, to heavy bass music, and back again."
Adds Seventh Rule Recordings label head Scott Flaster: "The new Author & Punisher? On first listen I was thrown into a grey world where the bleakness of early industrial music layered with a heavier contemporary dirge."
The "Women & Children" album will be released on April 30 via Seventh Rule Recordings. The track listing is as follows:
1. Women & Children
2. In Remorse
4. Tame as a Lion
