The Rockstar Ramblings: Guns N’ Corn

KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are planning to collaborate on a memoir. Is it already assumed the first and last chapters will be “Gene” chapters?...

Alice Cooper has been asked to help design Universal Studios Halloween maze. For a rocker that has always used fright and horror as a back drop it looks like Cooper has been typecast with this project. Three years from now Alice will be receiving calls to go to Iowa and design corn mazes…

The medical mystery man Ozzy Osbourne recently lost his two front bottom teeth (crowns). With a show only days away, Ozzy frantically looked for a dentist to fix his mouth. I realize we are five months away from Christmas, but I already know what Ozzy wants…

A fan with a “professional” style camcorder got a surprise when Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue) went into the crowd to have him removed. Unfortunately from the video you are unable to see if there is in fact a camera or Sixx spotted on of Kat Von D’s new boyfriends. Either way Nikki might consider some additional insurance should he continue to jump into crowds at his age… More...

Alice Cooper Reveals New Album Artwork

Shock rock icon Alice Cooper has revealed the artwork for his forthcoming new studio album, "Welcome 2 My Nightmare," the sequel to his classic 1975 album, "Welcome To My Nightmare." You can check it out below. The record will be released on September 13th through Universal Music Enterprises.

"This is Alice's nightmare 35 years later," explains Alice, "Bob and I created this character and we know how to write for him. I play the part but we're not writing for me, we're writing for Alice. We kept the first Nightmare album very personal to us, on this one we found more humor and we were more open. This was our world and we want to present it to the fans. The original album was my first solo album after all those huge hit records with the original band and now that nightmare is exposed, this one can be a little bit more open. The music crosses all sorts of boundaries; we went where the lyrics took us." More...

Shining To Release New Single

Shining, which recently shot a music video to be released later this month, is set to release a new single containing two songs. The tracks on the single include "Förtvivlan, Min Arvedel," taken from the new album "VII / Född Förlorare," while the second will be a previously un-released cover of the Alice Cooper song "Prince of Darkness."

This will be the first time that Shining has released a single, and founder and front man Niklas Kvarforth is hopeful that the new video will be included along with the two tracks. Kvarforth stated, "We are trying to get the video included, but the people behind the single are a little nervous, and probably quite rightly so given its subject matter and content. We are looking into the possibility of maybe including a censored version. We'll see how that pans out, but whatever happens, the uncensored version will definitely appear very soon, so Shining fans who have been waiting for it, will not be disappointed."

You can also check out a track-by-track breakdown of the new Shining album by heading over here.

Heavy Metal Stars On Board For Dio Tribute Album

According to Wendy Dio, the wife and manager of heavy metal legend Ronnie James Dio, who sadly passed away last year, some of the biggest names in heavy metal and hard rock will be taking part in a forthcoming Dio tribute album.

"It probably won't come out this year, but everybody signed up," Dio told Noisecreep.

So, who's signed on thus far? "Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Glenn Hughes, Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Lemmy (Motorhead)," she said, adding Grohl will do the Black Sabbath hit 'Mob Rules,' and Halford will be taking on 'Long Live Rock 'N' Roll.' And artists keep coming on. "I just talked to Alice (Cooper), roped Alice in and Sebastian (Bach) and Chris (Jericho)," she said, referring to fellow attendees at the Golden Gods press conference. And Cooper already has a song in mind, going back to the Elf days, according to Wendy.

Broken Hearts: An Ode To Anti-Love Metal

February 14th is a date that means different things to different people. For some, Valentine’s Day is that special occasion to show someone how much you care, while for others it’s an unfortunate reminder of just how long that unused condom has been stashed in your wallet. For every lucky gentleman who has found the lady he can sexually accost without fear of court mandated harassment classes, there’s that lonely soul who will spend Valentine’s Day with nothing but music out the speakers and a bottle of Jack.

No matter which side you fall on, heavy metal has got a song to match your mood and help you head bang through the gooiest of all the holidays.

Whether any given track is purposefully over the top and funny, depressing enough to make you pull out the eyeliner and candles, or just plain outright disturbing, metal is no stranger to the anti-love song. So for those of you will be spending Valentine’s Day alone, or just simply think the holiday is nothing more than a marketing ploy to sell chocolates and greeting cards, here’s a series of anti-love anthems to get you through the day.

For those who still have a heart and haven't devolved into extreme cynicism, you can also check out our companion listing of pro-love heavy metal music at this location.

Humorous

Metalunderground.com is no stranger to aberrant sexual behavior, as we have the honor of being home the infamous “I’d put my tongue in her butt” forum thread. The following, um, “tongue-in-cheek” songs are all dedicated to everyone who has ever contributed a post to that thread.

Whether 80’s glam rock parody/tribute act Steel Panther is singing love songs or anti-love songs is a matter of some debate. What could be more loving than each band member’s willingness to sleep with anything that moves, regardless of VD status? Take the particularly touching song “Turn Out The Lights,” in which we are informed that front man Michael Starr is in desperate need of some physical attention, even though his partner actively disgusts him. What’s a horny rock star to do? Look no further than the title for the answer:
