German blues/hard rock act Zodiac released a music video for the new track "A Penny and a Dead Horse." The song appears on the band's upcoming new album "Sonic Child," which will be issued in Europe via Napalm Records and North America via Prosthetic Records on the following release schedule:
September 19th: G/A/S (via Napalm)
September 24th: NOR/SWE (via Napalm)
September 26th: FIN & BENELUX (via Napalm)
September 29th: UK & EUROPE (via Napalm)
September 30th: North America (via Prosthetic)
The songs on "Sonic Child" are describes as "traditional and versatile, have strong riffs and driving drums, are affected by a well-tempered influence of the blues, with a carefully selected degree of hardness at any time." Frontman Nick van Delft tells tales of little adventures and grand gestures, some of which seems to be located in the desert of Arizona ("Penny And The Dead Horse"), whereas others seem to be in the cotton fields on the banks of the Mississippi River ("Rock Bottom Blues"). Zodiac showcases the best statement on their artistic visions at the very end: "just music."

The follow-up to 2013's “A Hiding Place” (named “album of the month” by Rock Hard late last year) was once again recorded at Megaphon Tonstudios with producer Martin Meinschafer. A new song will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
For now, the band has revealed the album’s enticing cover art by Sebastian Jerke (Audrey Horne, Long Distance Calling), seen below. The band commented, “The idea behind it is actually very simple: As a child, you hear music in its purest form. You do this without caring about a certain image, without looking at the band pictures, without thinking about fancy clothes or any other parameters; you just listen to the music and create your own vision of it. Nowadays, it seems for many bands that music isn’t the most important element anymore. That’s why we wrote a concept album about the love for music in general. It is our ‘Sonic Child,’ and we hope you’ll cherish it as much as we do. And with such a talented artist as Sebastian Jerke, we managed to find the perfect partner to visualize our thoughts. Here we go!”

Sweden's classic rock heavyweights Spiritual Beggars are currently wrapping up work on their 8th studio album, which will be entitled "Earth Blues" and is set for releas in Spring 2013 via InsideOut Music. Spiritual Beggars will celebrate the band's 20th anniversary with this release and by playing shows, including a European tour in April. Guitarist and songwriter Michael Amott comments on the album:
"We started the recording process of 'Earth Blues' with an eight day long session at 'Fat Guitar Studios' (Sweden) with knob twiddler Roberth Ekholm, a truly great dude who really knows how to capture a band jamming live, sadly a rare quality in recording engineers nowadays! We continued with some overdubs at various studios in Sweden, and it's all come together super easy this time. We're finishing up the mixes now with Staffan Karlsson at his studio in Halmstad, Sweden. Sonically, I think this might be our finest hour yet. It's a raw, heavy and honest record."
In order to promote this upcoming release as well as the band's anniversary, Spiritual Beggars has confirmed a European tour for April with support by German rockers Zodiac, as well as some European summer festivals. See below for all upcoming dates: More...

German stoner rock combo Zodiac, who released its debut demo digitally in 2011, is streaming it in full over on Bandcamp. Zodiac will be releasing this five song demo officially on May 3rd, 2012. Zodiac started when drummer Janosch Rathmer (Long Distance Calling) started jamming with guitarist Nick van Delft in 2010. Both decided that the songs that rose from their sessions had to meet the ears, so they soon joined forces with Stephan Gall (Guitar) and Robert Kahr (Bass, Organ) to form the bluesdriven, heavy and sometimes psychedelic rock-formation that came to be known as Zodiac.
