The following statement has been posted online by Finnish goth metal act Charon, in which it announces the band's plan to disband.
"This shouldn't be a really big surprise for anyone. We are forced to admit that we have no longer anything new to give to the genre in which Charon has operated. Doing things forced or not straight from the heart has never been a band practice for us. And a 100% satisfactory outcome would no longer be possible," the band explains in a statement.
"After the last studio album we should have gotten a grip in time and not to delay the decisions we faced in the end of 2009. In the summer 2010, 'a new beginning' with a new guitarist worked brilliantly and we even wrote a full album of songs. But we did not have enough heart and passion to light up the final fire and to finish the record. Years of hanging loose from the noose had eaten up most of our energy and creativity.
"Playing in the band has been a solid part of our lives for nearly two decades. Charon had been a measure for everything that we've done in our lives. There are lots of good memories and tours behind and above all, great fans. Everything has its moments but nothing lasts forever. Our moment ends now."

Finnish gothic metal act Charon is currently streaming a new demo track online. The demo version of the new song "The Cure" can be heard at the official Charon MySpace page. Charon also announced last month that they had parted ways with guitarist Pasi Sipilä and will continue on playing live shows as a quartet.
Finland's Charon has issued the following update about parting ways with guitarist Pasi Sipilä:
"New decade brings changes to Charon and now it's good time to update the situation. There have been rumors among Charon fans and followers about the future of the band. Playfully it could be said that Charon was not able to escape the cold grip of ongoing recession and had to go through re-organization and layoffs.
"After taking some time out last summer we were not able to tune our engine to the needed pace for the studio sessions. We had written a bunch of new songs during the last couple of years but were not able to put them on record. After a long pondering and going through different alternatives, it was inevitable that we cannot output the next album in this mood of confusion. As a consequence guitarist Pasi Sipilä has left Charon.
"Charon will continue playing and writing songs as a quartet. At the moment we are looking forward to new working methods and finding new ways to surprise our fans and to challenge band mates with no boundaries on style or sound. We would like to thank Pasi for all his work for Charon during the years and wish him good luck with music! More...

Finnish gothic metal band Charon has issued the following statement about taking a break from writing and performing:
"We have together decided to take some time out from song writing and album production. As from today we are taking a two-month break from Charon to keep things meaningful and to search for relaxation and less stressed creative inspiration. We will continue writing songs in August when we will think through our working methods and scan for potential partners. A small break after 15 years of hard work gives all of us a great possibility to do other things and look at things from a distance.
"After the release of Songs for the Sinners, the last album for Spinefarm, we played intensively around Finland and Europe for two years. After extensive touring we have worked countless hours to make the next and the best Charon album ever. The last two years have gone by really fast and at the same time emerging writer’s block has not made it easy for us. Lately we have felt that we have lost the ability to write great songs and playing has become forced. We want to be honest in all our work to ourselves and to our fans – and to make an album that we can stand behind. We will not settle for anything less. In addition, personal reasons and other music projects have had their influence on the pace of working. More...
The guitarist for Finnish goth metal act Charon will be missing tonight's appearance in Moscow due to health issues. The band issued the following statement:
"Charon guitarist Lauri Tuohimaa was hospitalized during Christmas due to a blood clot. Because of his bad condition Lauri has a ban on travel and he's currently recovering at home.
For this the reason Lauri does not play at the New Year show in Moscow. Luckily we were able to find in a very short time a Russian guitarist who will back up Lauri at this special occasion. Despite this harmful situation, we wish you all a rocking New Year and hope to see you sometime soon!"
