Originally scheduled as a two day fest in Toronto, Spread The Metal Fest will now only be taking place on Saturday, Sept 7th at the Opera House with the following line-up:

Vesperia and Crimson Shadows are currently on tour in Canada together, but tonight's show in Lethbridge has been cancelled. Vesperia comments:

Canadian epic power/death metallers Crimson Shadows from Toronto, ON have won the international 2013 Wacken Metal Battle. The Wacken Metal Battle website issued the following announcement:
"A decision has been made! The Award Ceremony of this year's Metal Battle is over and the winners are Crimson Shadows! With their mix of epic death & power metal they left their competitors from almost 30 other countries behind.
"Besides the desired label deal with Nuclear Blast the band also won lots of high quality endorsements from Marshall, Washburn, Markbass, Paiste, Woodbrass and Vision Backdrops. Congratulations to the band! We are curious and are looking forward to your musical future!
Wacken Metal Battle Canada organizer JJ Tartaglia comments: "I'm honoured that Crimson Shadows have taken the title here at Wacken. It's a great accomplishment for the band and for Wacken Metal Battle Canada. We have great metal music to show the world and this is a big step towards proving that."
Wacken Metal Battle Canada champions Crimson Shadows are premiering the first single "Maidens Call" from upcoming EP "Sails of Destiny" on Quebec based podcast Ondes Chocs, along with an interview with drummer Cory Hofing.

Canadian epic metal bands Crimson Shadows, recent winner of Wacken Metal Battle Canada, and Vesperia have announced plans to join forces on their first trans-continental run entnitled the Western Crusade Canadian tour.
This August, Vesperia and Crimson Shadows will hit the trans-Canada Highway from Southern Ontario to Victoria, British Columbia and back in stoic determination to bring their epic metal assault Canada-wide. Check out the Facebook event page right here.

Prior to the upcoming tour, Crimson Shadows will be on its way to North Germany to take part in the International Wacken Metal Battle. The band's upcoming EP "Sails of Destiny" was recorded at Icehouse Studios in Goderich by Thomas Ireland (Battlesoul). Orchestrations and mixing on the EP were done by Jonathan Francois-Leduc (Blackguard, Ex-Deo) in Montreal, QC. Pre-orders are available at this location.
One band to rule them all! Toronto epic power/death metallers Crimson Shadows move forward to play the international finals of Wacken Metal Battle after winning the Canadian final in Toronto, ON.
The battle included some of the country's underground best like Vesperia, Hollow, Dissension, and Adrenechrome. 39 independent Canadian bands competed over nine qualifying rounds, three semi-finals, and a national final that was judged by Glen Drover (Megadeth / Testament), Martin Popoff (BW&BK / HardRadio), Sarah Lutz (Metal Blade Records), Noel Peters (Inertia Entertainment), Adam Sewell (Stereo Dynamite Records /Monster Voodoo Machine) and Rob Urbinati (Sacrifice).
The Wacken Metal Battle international finals will be during this year's Wacken Open Air Festival from August 1st-3rd in Wacken, Germany, with Crimson Shadows playing alongside Evile Invaders (Belgium), Industrial City (Georgia), Rotten Souls (Central America), Nin Treasures (China), SIV (Faroe Islands), Karma Zero (France), Chronosphere (Greece), Kill With Hate (Hungary), Ophidian I (Iceland), Overoth (Ireland), BackJumper (Italy), Mysterious Priestess (Japan), La Chudra (Lithuania), An Apple A Day (Luxembourg), Gnida (Poland), Utopium (Portugal), God - The Barbarian Horde (Romania), Trallery (Spain), Vengha (Sweden), Bull-Riff Stampede (UK), Rotten State (Uruguay) plus more to be announced.

Vesperia also recently announced a pre-order campaign for the digital release of new album "An Olden Tale," that will begin on Monday, June 24th.
"An Olden Tale" was recorded between October 2012 and March 2013 with Thomas Ireland (Icehouse Studios, Battlesoul) in Goderich, ON. The cover artwork for the album was done by Jan Yrlund, whose art credits include Tyr, Korpiklaani, and more. More...
The organizers of the Spread The Metal Festival have announced this year's Toronto edition will occur at the famed Opera House on September 7th and 8th. Wacken Metal Battle Canada is proud to announce that Hollow (Montreal qualifying) and Crimson Shadows (Toronto semi-final) have advanced from their battling rounds.
Hollow will perform at next week's Montreal semi-final on June 7th at Katacombes with Dissension, Trainwreck Architect, Fallstaf, & Crosstitution, where two bands will move on to join Crimson Shadows at the national final in Toronto on June 22nd at the Opera House.
The final will see two Toronto semi-finalists and two Montreal semi-finalists along with a wild card band compete for one to rule them all at Wacken 2013 this summer.
The next semi-final in Toronto will be on June 7th at the Rivoli along with the Montreal semi-final on June 7th at Katacombes . All bands will be judged by a panel of local music industry representatives.

In additional news, Toronto's skrap metal innovators Final Trigger have been announced as the special guest band to perform at this year's Wacken Metal Battle Canada final. The band recently returned from their USA tour with Mushroomhead and will be releasing their new album "Skrap Metal Vol. II" on Boonsdale Records on July 9th. Their first single/music video 'Face It' can be viewed at YouTube.
This September 7th and 8th, Spread the Metal Records will host the Spread the Metal Festival in Toronto, ON. The festival will see 100% of its profits donated to Kiva, a non-profit organization, which helps people around the world to lift themselves out of poverty.

Crimson Shadows will be touring with Vesperia starting this Saturday, March 30th in Belleville, ON and doing several dates all over Ontario and Quebec over the next 4 months, leading up to a West coast trek where both bands will be touring out to Victoria, BC. Drummer Cory Hofing comments:
"We are really excited to be hitting the road once again with our brothers in Vesperia! Seeing as myself and our bassist Morgan Rider play in both bands it makes sense to save on gas and time to tour together. Yes, this does mean we will be playing 2 sets back to back every night but we have done it before and I'm sure we shall do it more in the future!"
