Metal Church have completed writing songs for their next album. The new album is expected to be released in April 2006.
The surviving members of DAVID WAYNE'S METAL CHURCH, the band formed by late METAL CHURCH frontman David Wayne, have issued the following press release:
"On May 10th, 2005 we lost a true brother and close friend, Reverend David Wayne. As many already know, David was returning to the metal scene with us, the band members of REVEREND, labeled as DAVID WAYNE'S METAL CHURCH (DWMC). His sole goal was to try and get metal to be METAL again, at the same time drawing attention towards our return.
"When a bandmate dies, the remaining members have to make a decision; continue on with the same beliefs, values, and direction, or stop playing together and pursue other projects. In our case, David left us specific instructions. After a period of mourning and in David Wayne's honor, we will follow through with the 'Godfather of Metal''s wishes.
"As of the date of this press release, DAVID WAYNE'S METAL CHURCH no longer exists; however, in the pursuit of true heavy metal we are announcing the reformation of REVEREND!
Davey Lee - Guitar
Nacho Vara - Guitar
Jesse Vara - Drums
Brendon Kyle - Bass
"We are working on our older material plus the new collaborated songs with lyrics by David Wayne and are in search of a lead vocalist. We are not seeking a replacement for David Wayne, but a vocalist who wants metal to be metal and carry on the tradition and give justice to the lyrics and music of REVEREND!
"Interested persons should send an 8x10 Photo, resume, and a CD of his/her vocal abilities to: Reverend, 404 Riverside Drive, Pipe Creek TX 78063."
METAL CHURCH associate Steve "Regiman" Johnson has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"Just a few weeks ago the guys doing the METAL CHURCH 'Beyond the Black' documentary flew up to Washington and crashed at my house while doing interviews with the guys from the current METAL CHURCH line-up.
"During the stay they also made contact with Duke [Erickson, original METAL CHURCH bassist] and Dave [Wayne, original METAL CHURCH singer] and got a chance to sit down with each of them also. I talked to Jeff Baker, one of the documentary guys, last night, he had just heard the news [of Wayne's passing] and was stunned. This as he was leaving his house in Vegas, heading to the airport on his way to Florida, where he will be interviewing Craig [Wells, original METAL CHURCH guitarist] in the next few days.
"With the addition of some live footage from some up-and-coming shows and a host of interviews over the next couple months, the filming process will end and the editing and will begin.
"At first when asked to participate and be interviewed, Dave was a bit apprehensive and not sure he wanted to participate at all or perhaps put it off 'till later this summer. However, after a few days to think about it, he decided to follow through. They got together, sat down for a couple hours and covered a gamut of subjects. Little did any of us realize the significance of the that interview. In light of this recent sad event, Dave's decision to do it then instead of later or not at all shall give his fans one last chance to here about his thoughts on many things and what his future plans would have been had not the creator called him home.
"I would guess the documentary will be done sometime this winter, ready for you all in the near future."
Wayne died on Tuesday (May 10) due to complications from injuries he sustained in a head-on automobile accident several months ago. He was 47 years old.
The following press release has been posted at the David Wayne's Metal Church web site:
"On behalf of David Wayne's Metal Church, we would like to express our deepest sorrow in the passing of our metal brother, David Wayne. This is not only a loss for us as a band and his family, but also millions of metalheads throughout the world. David died due to complications from injuries he sustained in a head-on automobile accident several months ago.
"David Wayne was the patented scratchy vocals of several METAL CHURCH albums and was in the process of returning to the metal scene with his new band lineup. His goal was to return to the sounds of METAL CHURCH's albums released in 1984 and 1986. We will always remember the burning words and vocals in 'Gods of Wrath', 'Watch the Children Pray', and 'Start the Fire'. David and his current band had just completed several new songs and were ready to head to the recording studio after their European tour dates this summer.
"Along with David's family and friends, we would ask that cards, letters, and flowers be sent to the below address. Additionally, donations are being accepted to help David's family with funeral expenses.

Hello again metal heads! It's been awhile since our last news post, but we have been BUSY!
October, November, and December of 2004 saw Metal Church on a state-side tour supporting "Weight Of The World," and we want to once again thank ALL our loyal fans for turning out. It was a smashing success, and special thanks to our new friends and opening act 3 Inches of Blood. Great band, be sure and check them out!
We got home just in time for the holidays, took January off, in February we played several regional shows AND went to Germany to do the Metal Forever Festival, which was a benefit for tsunami victims. Our March tour of Europe was postponed for summer and news on that is to follow soon.
In the mean time we have been in the studio writing and demo'ing the new album. We have also just confirmed the Monterrey Metal Festival for May 28th in Mexico and will have a major tour announcment soon!
Keep it Heavy!

New dates are coming in as we speak, and we will be posting them here the minute they are confirmed. One date that IS confirmed is the Wacken festival. We can't wait to get there, and are looking forward to kicking ass all over Europe as soon as we can!

Mayhem, Death Angel and Metal Church's one-off performance in Mexico City, scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 23, has been cancelled, according to a posting on MAYHEM's web site. "The cancellation was due to misbooking and was no fault of the band's whatsoever," the posting adds. The one-day event, dubbed "Festival del Muerto", was also set to feature several local acts, including Men At Arms, Garrobos, Damn Shark and The Zephyr.
Posted on the official 3 Inches of Blood website:
To confirm, (guitarists) Bobby Froese and Sunny Dhak are no longer part of the band. The two of them decided they could no longer commit to touring and needed to deal with some personal matters. Naturally, we were all quite shocked and disappointed by their decision, but after much discussion we understand why they needed to do this and we wish them the best.
We decided afterwards that we didn't want to call it a day, so we've recruited the guitar talents of Justin Hagberg from war-metallers Allfather, and Shane Clark who plays in Ten Miles Wide and The Almighty Punchdrunk.
We're also pleased to announce that we'll be doing a tour of the U.S.A. as main support for Metal Church.
Confirmed dates for the Metal Church tour are as follows: More...
