After postponing the release of the new album "Call to Arms," Saxon has now announced updated release dates. "Call To Arms" will drop on the following dates:
June 3rd: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway
June 6th: UK, Finland, Denmark
June 8th: Greece, Poland
June 10th: France
Saxon, which recently postponed the release of the new "Call to Arms" album, has now checked in from the road with a brief tour podcast. You can check out the video clip in the player below.

Saxon has checked in with the following update about postponing the release of "Call To Arms," the band's new album:
"Hi, hope all is well. We have some good news and some bad news. Bad news first: The album will be delayed for two weeks. Good news is: The official release is June the 3rd in Germany, Austria and Switzerland via Soulfood. The rest of Europe the following week. It may be the 3rd of June in the UK. I will let you know as soon as I know.
"More good news: On the first edition digipack there will be a bonus disc from Saxon's historic performance of the 1980 Castle Donington show. Re-mixed and re-mastered following the discovery of the lost multitrack tape.
"Call To Arms will also be available as jewel case CD, LP and as limited edition picture LP (vinyl). The album should be on the web shops in the next few days. Keep the faith."

A new video trailer has been posted online to promote the forthcoming 2011 editions of the Metalfest Open Air events in Austria and Germany. Metalfest 2011 will take place between May 27th to 29th. You can view the trailer below.
Saxon vocalist Biff Byford has issued the following statement about the band's recent U.K. tour dates:
"Hi hope you are all well. The U.K. leg of tour is over and we would like to thank everybody for making it our most successful tour for quite some time the charity meet and greet raised over 2000 puonds so well done to all who got to meet the band. We are talking about putting in some more U.K. dates after summer so keep your eyes on web site we are also working on America and south America so should have some news soon.
"The new album will be available on websites and in stores soon so my advice is to wait a bit longer there may be a ltd edition version or something special we will know soon.
"Keep the faith."

Saxon has posted a new video update from the band's "Call to Arms" tour, which can be viewed below. The group also commented:
"Biff posted a new blog and confirmed two dates in Japan. We are playing two nights the Club Citta (5th and 6th of August). First night we are playing the entire 'Denim & Leather' album and on the second night classics and new songs."
After announcing the band will be heading to Slovakia's Topfest on July 1st, 2011, Saxon has now also confirmed two more festivals during the summer. The details are as follows:

Saxon has announced it will be headlining the Topfest in Slovkia on July 1st, 2011. Additional details on the festival are available at this location. Saxon has checked in from Greece with the following road report:
"News from the road: played the first gig of the world tour last night in Thessaloniki. Fantastic audience! The first audience in Thessaloniki set the bench mark for the craziest audience so come on it is up to you guys.
"A bit of further news: Coolhead Productions are giving us 200 Heavy Metal Thunder - The Movie DVD's which are the last few left from the limited edition series. 5 signed copies will be on the T-Shirt store in the way out every night across Europe for 30.- £ and 35.- €.
"We just writing the blog while we are waiting to get to the gig in Athens. Keep the faith!"
Saxon has issued the following statement about changing venues for upcoming shows and inviting fans to come to sound checks:
"Hi, hope you are all well. I would like to do something for charity on the upcoming tour. We are going to invite approx. 20 people a day to watch the sound check and meet the band after. The idea would be to turn up at the back stage door at 4pm. You must pay 10 pound/15euros in cash into the charity box. The first twenty people to confirm they want to do this to the address below: firstname.lastname@example.org will have a place reserved at a venue of their choice. All proceeds will go to Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy and Childline and the money will be handed over in London on the 23rd April for the UK leg and the last day of the tour for Europe. I think this is a first and I would like to make it happen.
"P.S.: We cannot do this at festivals and Leamington Spa because this is our first show. Because so many of you are already registered for the newsletter lots of places are already gone. BUT It is not too late to register and sign up for the newsletter and we promise you that more things like this are coming.

"Further we would like to say that we are very sorry that the very beautiful venue Elysee Montmartre got damaged by a fire. We will definitely play the date in Paris. The gig has been moved now to the Bataclan where we're gonna rock in Paris. One more thing is that the venue in Milan (The Limelight) is closed. We are playing the Alcatraz instead."

Saxon has announced the new album "Call To Arms" will be released on May 23rd, 2011. The band has now issued the following announcement about streaming the first single "Hammer of the Gods" online through the Saxon MySpace page:
"Gods of war, Stand in fear, Strike you down. With the hammer of the Gods. Now is the time for Hammer Of The Gods - the debut single from Call To Arms is available online at this location exclusively for everyone to hear.

British heavy metal legends Saxon have revealed the front cover artwork for their forthcoming new studio album, "Call To Arms." You can check it out below. The artwork is a variation of the famous World War I poster featuring British Field Marshal, Lord Horatio Herbert Kitchener, which originally had the slogan, "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU," though some posters simply said, "WANTS YOU" beneath Kitchener's portrait.

Saxon has penned two tracks for the forthcoming British film "Hybrid Theory," starring Noel Clarke (Kidulthood), Martin McCann (Killing Bono), Martin Compston (Disappearance of Alice Creed),C raig Conway (Descent, Dog Soldiers, Doomsday) and directed by James Erskin (One Night in Turin). Shooting will begin in June this year.
The tracks feature on Saxon’s new album "Call to Arms" and have been written specially for the film. "Hybrid Theory" follows a group of British soldiers who find themselves in a life or death battle with an enemy beyond their wildest nightmares in this Sci-Fi/Horror with a twist.
"Hybrid Theory" producer Lionel Hicks sums up the collaboration: "It’s great to have a band like Saxon involved in the soundtrack to this film. These new songs really capture the mood of the film, and everyone working on it is thrilled."

"Hey guys, we will have Crimes Of Passion and Vanderbuyst as support bands on our European Continental tour and after discussing forward and backwards about who should be the main support slot we came to the point where we wanted to let the decision made by you.
"You will have the chance to for each city. And every one of you who votes will of course get not only the chance to put his favourite band on the main support slot, they will also have the chance to win lots of prices. Both bands will supply cool packages and gimmicks."

In other recent Saxon news, the group canceled a string of Australian dates, and also announced "Call To Arms" will be the title of the band's upcoming album.
Saxon has issued the following announcement about canceling the band's scheduled Australian shows:
"Dear fans, we are unfortunately forced to cancel our Australia trip due scheduling problems with the new album recordings.
"We apologize for canceling but due to the bad weather conditions we had in the UK during the recording sessions we have suffered various delays and we can't just drop the production and leave - we have producers booked and mix engineers waiting to finish the album, which is titled 'Call To Arms.'
"We have looked at this from all sides, but too many people are involved so we have made the choice to finish the album and we apologize again. We hope you can understand that we have not made this decision lightly."

British heavy metal legends Saxon have announced that they will be naming their forthcoming new studio album, "Call To Arms."
Although no further details have been revealed about the record, the band is currently recording the album in Brighton, England and has confirmed that Deep Purple keyboard player Don Airey will be making a special guest appearance.
