Members of US death metal pioneers Incantation have issued a number of statements regarding the status of their long-awaited upcoming release and the unfortunate passing of former bass player, Joey "Fingers" Lombard.
On the new album...
"I have known John McEntee for about 23 years now. I am going back to a time when there was only a handful of us that played our dark extreme secret music. Things have changed since then and there is a much larger audience, but the hunger is still there for us to create the darkest extreme songs we can come up with. Incantation is one of the oldest bands who wave that dark sinister flag proudly.
It is awesome after all these years to now be playing and writing together with John on the new material. I am more than confident that the new Incantation record is going to crush your skulls. In my opinion this is one of the band's darkest and most brutal collections of songs to date and it is my my honor and privilege to be working with two of death metal's fineset players in Kyle Severn and Chuck Sherwood. Unleash the blood of the goat!" - Alex BouksMore...
Fan-filmed footage has been posted online of Acheron's Vincent Crowley paying tribute to our fallen metal brother Joey "Fingers" Lombard (ex-Incantation), who passed away earlier this month at the age of 42. The video clip is available below.

Back in 2005, Dimmu Borgir was a band still basking in the unholy success of its latest outing “Death Cult Armageddon.” And yet instead of launching into a new opus for fans to consume the band members decided on a new approach; they would re-release an early and often praised album (“Stormblåst”) by completely re-recording it, updating the sound with modern production and slap “MMV” on the end. There had of course been prior examples of bands making this choice, but it was perhaps here that best truly crystallized the new era of metal re-recordings. No doubt you have heard of similar re-recordings in the same vein, perhaps most recently Gorgoroth’s “Under the Sign of Hell 2011” or Burzum’s “From the Depths of Darkness”? Perhaps not, but that’s what I aim to uncover for you here. More...
Former Incantation bassist Joey "Fingers" Lombard died on January 3, 2012. He was 42 years old. Lombard played with Incantation from 2001-2005 and played on the following releases: "Blasphemy" (2002), "Decimate Christendom" (2004) and "Primordial Domination" (2006).
Former live Incantation bassist Roberto Lizárraga, who immediately stepped in when Lombard departed in 2005, posted the following statement, which the band re-posted on its Facebook Page:
"In 2003, while INCANTATION toured for the "Blasphemy" album, they played in San Diego and in Tijuana. INFINITUM OBSCURE played in the Tijuana gig. In this tour, I met this genuinely GREAT guy by the name of Joey Lombard, who was Incan's bassist at the time (2001-2006).
"In 2005 I was asked to step into INCANTATION as live session bassist, since Joey would not be able to commit for all the touring for the "Decimate Christendom" album, then "Primordial Domination".
"We also toured together in January 2005, I played bass for THE CHASM and he was still in INCANTATION. We shared a tour together. More...
The Summer Breeze festival organizers have issued the following announcement about confirming Amon Amarth as a headliner for the festival's 2012 edition:
"Behind the 24th door of our Advent Calendar there's none other than our favourite vikings AMON AMARTH, who are now confirmed as the second headliner for the 15th SUMMER BREEZE Open Air beside Subway To Sally.
"It's almost incredible the way our Swedish friends have enjoyed a continued rise to the top of the scene. Top-ten chart entries, headliner slots on all major festivals, sold-out tours, enthusiastic fans everywhere – by now Mr Johan Hegg and Co. have become real stars, but they still have their feet firmly planted on the ground, because they haven't forgotten where they started. And that's why they like to return to those places, one of them definitely being SUMMER BREEZE!
"What, it's Christmas already?!? How time flies. Our SUMMER BREEZE Advent Calendar had only just begun, and now it's all over again. We hope we were able to fulfill your wishes and expectations, and perhaps even surprise you with one or two of the confirmed bands.
"Here's a final overview of our Advent Calendar, which has been making you company for the last 24 days: More...

Death metal veterans, Incantation are currently writing new material. The group expect a 2012 release date. Drummer Kyle Severn comments:
"The new material we have been writing with new members Alex (Bouks also of Goreaphobia) and Chuck (Sherwood also of Bloodstorm) is beyond brutal, as these songs have come together they are by far the darkest and most demented Incantation tracks I've been a part of since Diabolical Conquest"
Incantation released its first new song in six years on the "After Party Massacre" CD soundtrack and Limited Edition 7-inch Bloodsplatter Vinyl. Click on the You Tube video below to hear a sample.
A teaser trailer has been posted online for the new movie "After Party Massacre," which will feature music from Incantation and Asphyx. The trailer is available below.
The creators of the movie also issued the following statement:
"Giving a new twist to horror, the Afterparty Massacre, brings metal, blood and gore back to the screen! Written and directed by both Kristoff (of Horrormerch.com) and Kyle Severn (of Incantation and Acheron), the Afterparty Massacre is one killer party with mind-blowing amounts of blood, metal, flesh and a huge death metal/industrial soundtrack from 16Volt, Asphyx, Incantation, Ventana and more!
"The After Party Massacre centers around a mysterious female fan - Scarlett - who attends a live performance by the metal bands Incantation and Soulless. At this show - Scarlett soon found herself thrown into the dark depths of torture and depravity showing what happens when you push - an already damaged mind - too far. During this show Scarlett encounters a forcibly rough fan that had followed her into an empty corner of the venue. During this altercation she has flashbacks of a dark past and it transforms her into a bloodthirsty killer on a mission to kill her attacker plus anyone and everyone else in her way (friend - fan and foe alike) until only a pile of bodies is left within this bloody massacre.
"With Scarlett being as patient and calculating as she is torturous and demented, her killing spree is a precise and bloody massacre to witness. Filled with sex, metal, and an unpredictable killer who uses an arsenal of axes, sex toys, box cutters, and power saws as her tools of torture and dismemberment. The After Party Massacre is a huge blood filled splatterfest that is too brutal to miss!"
Old school death metal act Incantation has confirmed its first headlining tour through Poland. The tour starts May 1 and runs through May 8th. Polish black metal troupe Christ Agony will provide support.
Incantation front man and founder, John McEntee comments:
"With great honor we are proud to announce that we are doing our first headlining tour of Poland. Our first time playing Poland was back in 2007 as part of the Blitzkrieg 4 Tour 2007 with the killer line up of Vader, Krisiun , Rotting Christ and my other band Funerus. This will be the first time we can play our full sent for all of our long time diehard Polish supporters, something we have been looking forward to for many years.
Poland has always been good to us. From the band's inception back in 1989 we have always had massive support for the Polish underground, but have had lots of problems making it over there to preform for one reason or another. Finally over 20 years after the formation of the band we will do our first headlining tour. It will be great to see our old school friend along with many new fans alike.
The tour will be with the legendary Polish band Christ Agony. This is one of Poland's greatest and most well-respected bands. Anyone that knows anything about the Polish underground black death metal scene will agree. It will be great to play along side them every night!
We look forward to seeing all you sick Polish Incantation supporters. We have a great set list that we are working on for the tour and we can't wait to spill our guts out for you guys every night.
Also, some of the Polish shows will be recorded (video and audio) and if the recordings quality comes out good we hope to use them for a live record and DVD sometime late this year.
With all this great Polish news I also want to say that we are also playing the Neurotic Death Fest this year and it is a absolute honor to be apart of this amazing fest. We want to thanks the promoter for including us on this awesome fest. Along side some of my personal favorite bands! We look forward to seeing all our Dutch supporters there, it will be a kick ass time."
Incantation will appear at Neurotic Death Fest 2011 on April 29th before heading to Poland.

Incantation vocalist John McEntee commented by saying:

Between us and our booking agent we did all we could to try to make the fest appearance happen, but only after many attempts we had to come to the conclusion that there was just no way to make it happen. We want apologize both fest organizers for giving us this opportunity. we also want to thank all our supporters that were looking forward to our performances. we know that both promoters are very stand up people, and I’m sure both fest will be a great success."

Both taking place July 15th - 17th, Incantation will be a featured headliner at the Obscene Extreme Festival in the Czech Republic and are playing Austria's Kaltenback Open Air Festiva. Incantation guitarist John McEntee had this to say regarding the upcoming appearances:
"We are proud to announce that we will be one of the headliners for the Obscene Extreme Festival in the Czech Republic. We have heard a lot of great things about this festival and are looking forward to it very much. There are numerous other great death metal and grind bands playing so I'm sure it will be a great time. I would also like to thank the festival organizers for including my other band Funerus on the festival. We look forward to putting on a totally kick ass show and we plan on making this a very special performance for all of our die hard supporters.
"We are also playing the Kaltenbach Open Air Festival in Austria. It will be a great honor to play there once again since we haven't played there since our tour opening up for Nile and Unleashed a good while back. The lineup for the fest is nothing short of amazing and it will be great to play alongside such great bands and friends. We are looking forward to spewing forth our style of pure raw underground death metal."
INCANTATION bassist Chuck Sherwood has issued the following update from the band’s well received Vengeful Scapegoat Tour through Europe with DIVINE EVE, HATE, NOCTUM, and NERVE.
“INCANTATION returns to Europe one again! With all of the previous experiences John [McEntee] and Kyle [Severn] have had they were prepared for another hellish assault on the 'old world.' As for Alex [Bouks] and I, our journey into the unknown began on our arrival to London’s Heathrow Airport. With the sights and sounds of our first show Nottingham delivered at The Central! The fans and support there were great. Playing a mixture of older and newer material and utilizing a return of the dual guitar attack we plunged into battle with a more diversified set. The journey continued to Leeds where we were faced with a cancellation when we heard that the club’s roof had caved-in, although that was never confirmed because locals seemed just as surprised as we were to hear it. Off to a good start only to restart and build momentum yet again. Regardless of the setback, we made good of the situation. We visited local metal purveyors the Hellraiser shop in Leeds. Highly recommended! Then it was off to the pub to drown in the microbrews of England.
“After a fresh start again the following day the fires had spread to Edinburgh. The Scots were nothing short of killer. Amongst four-story stone buildings and rolling cobblestone streets we found ourselves at the Bannerman's. And in the bowels of that club in a dank and dark room the fans crushed and thrashed their support. The owners and staff were equally considerate and helpful in many ways. Fuckin' amazing first experience, personally speaking!
“Our trip back to the origins of the tour led us south to London where were we played The Electrowerkz. The promotion team there was even helping set up and break down the stage in between bands. We’d be hard pressed to find that kind of local support in the States. Here in Europe it’s almost expected. London’s fans filled the Electrowerkz and made for an energetic and awesome show; powerful reactions in the form of fists and horns held high over the course of one of our alternating sets. We reintroduced some songs that hadn’t crept from the darkness in years.
“After no sleep - maybe 45 minutes in the past three days - and a short ferry ride from the UK into Belgium we played the Las Cenobites and saw some familiar faces for all of us. John and Alex reunited with Laurent from Listenable after a 19-year gap and were laughing over old photos. Sabathan, an old comrade, of John’s, and I showed up where he and I talked after nine years of lost contact. The show was awesome with the likes of our personal friends shoulder to shoulder amongst the other warriors who came out that night and unleashed hell on earth. The other bands whom we've had the pleasure of sharing a stage with – DIVINE EVE, HATE, NOCTUM, and NERVE - have all been great and I know it will result in long lasting comradeship and future endeavors. Suffice to say, my experience in Europe thus far and to be within the ranks of such a legendary project as INCANTATION has been nothing short of killer.
“In Holland we were amongst our comrades in ASPHYX and PENTACLE and a packed room of hellions that came out (on a Monday night, mind you) to the Little Devil in Tilburg and made the night immortal. The show and all who were participating made our stay memorable. It was everything from the sound to handling the tucked away stage and endless help in the form of plastic bags for merch and drink tickets for Holland’s own Grolsch, which I think everyone agreed is far better over here on tap. We followed up that night with an 18th century cottage at which we slept. Everything was brilliant. A final hails again to everyone involved!
“Upon crossing over to the desolate village of Luynes, France, near Marseille, last night it was nothing like its appearance when the smoke filled room of the Le Korigan exploded with chaos once the bands hit the stage. The reaction of these French psychos was something to behold! An amazing time was had by all, despite the shadow looming over some of us. It’s very easy to get sick on the road and with that not stopping or holding us back, onward we charged into battle. With France left destroyed in our wake, it’s off to Spain!”

Death metal act Incantation will return to the stage at Urbana, IL’s Canopy Club for the Central Illinois Metal Fest, which will take place on July 23-24, 2010 and also feature Ibex Moon Records label mates Acheron. Incantation guitarist and vocalist John McEntee had this to say about the performance:
"It will be great once again to play the mighty Central Illinois Metal Fest. We played a few years back and the reaction was overwhelming. Of course, it’s an honor to play the fest again. We are planning to make this a very special performance of our 'Diabolical Conquest' album. This will be our first time playing every song off the album live during one set. It’ll be a great opportunity to see us play some songs we haven’t played in quite some time. The Central Illinois Metal Fest is always a great time and extremely well organized. CIMF is definitely one of North America's premier metal fests and we are proud to again be a part of it. Thanks to the CIMF staff for giving us this opportunity.
"Also, we will be playing the Stonehenge Festival in Holland on July 31st. This will be our first time playing the Stonehenge Festival and it definitely is an honor to be part of it. We’ve heard a lot of good things about the fest from our friends and bands that have played it, so we are definitely looking forward to it.”

Death metal act Incantation spent this Halloween touring Central America for the first time in their career. Drummer Kyle Severn issued the following statement regarding the brief tour: "Finally Incantation invades Central America, and what a better time than over Halloween weekend. This was another great experience for the band, for we have been all over the world, but have not played in such metal countries as Guatemala and Honduras. The people there are very metal and truly showed their support. We had a great time, and want to thank the organization for bringing us, and hope to be back soon. Hails 666”
Echoing Severn's sentiment, Incantation guitarist/vocalist John McEntee had this to say, “Yes, it was a great experience, we got to meet a lot of very cool true die hard metal heads and made many new friends. I even seen a friend of mine from back when I lived in New Jersey which was unexpected, but very cool. It is great to know that the death metal underground is alive and well in Central America. Thanks to Edwin and Manuel for a great production and we look forward to returning again to play for all the die hard Incantation supporters again. We also look forward to playing more Central American countries next time.“
The band is gearing up for an early 2010 European tour with Ibex Moon Records label mates Divine Eve, along with Hate and Noctem.
