German metal band, MASTERPLAN, has issued the following update:
"JORN LANDE will once again join forces with his old bandmates, and work on what is expected to be yet another MASTERPLAN Masterpiece."
"The new album is already in the works and JORN is right now in Roland Grapow Studios in Slovakia recording his vocals. The release date is not yet decided, but the album is scheduled to hit the market sometime in early 2010."
The German metal band Masterplan has parted ways with vocalist Mike DiMeo. Mike issued the following year-end recap message that also includes his confirmation of leaving the band:
"Hey Guys, I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks to everyone that writes me here and give a quick update…. 2008 was a great year with a lot of cool shows around the states with Tommy James and another great tour with Bonnie Tyler around North America. I had the chance to work with a lot of amazing musicians… The Groove Kings were joined by John Scofield at one of our live gigs one night!! That was cool…I did some really cool session work and have a bunch of releases slated for 2009 of which I am really looking forward to… One of them is with Australian band “Ilium” and I am really happy with how it turned out… I also do want to confirm that I am no longer working with the Masterplan guys…..although I have nothing but profound respect for them and continue to wish them nothing but success in the future… More...
Frontiers Records will release the debut album from Markus Grosskopf's (HELLOWEEN) BASSINVADERS, entitled "Hellbassbeaters", on January 25, 2008.
BASSINVADERS was a creation of Markus' while sitting in a bar and enjoying a few drinks. It was there that he got inspired to produce a heavy rock record without any guitars at all. He presented this concept in early 2007 to Frontiers Records, which was intrigued by the idea and gave it a go.
According to a press release, "Hellbassbeaters" contains all the basic elements of a heavy rock record "and so much more. You got the strong vocals, rhythmic bass, intoxicating drums and even bass and twin bass solo parts. What you hear is what you get: 100% genuine heavy rock record with absolutely no discordant guitar note on it at all." To guarantee a great variety of different influences, Markus invited some well-known singing bass players from the German metal scene to join the band, including DESTRUCTION's Schmier, SODOM's frontman Tom Angelripper and RAGE's Peavy. He also managed to get a few of his bass heroes to lay down solos on some of the tracks, including Billy Sheehan, Rudy Sarzo and DD Verni.
Guest musicians include:
Billy Sheehan (STEVE VAI, MR. BIG, DAVID LEE ROTH)
Rudy Sarzo (DIO, OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE, QUIET RIOT)

Shortly after the departure of singer Jorn Lande, drummer Uli Kusch (ex-Helloween) has also left Masterplan, the German melodic metal band he formed with guitarist Roland Grapow. An official announcement on the matter is expected shortly...
Masterplan recently began recording its third album — the group's first without singer Jorn Lande, who announced his departure in early May. The band's final show with Lande took place on August 8 at Lokersefeesten in Belgium. More...
MASTERPLAN members Uli Kusch (drums) and Roland Grapow (guitar; both ex-HELLOWEEN) have started the recordings for the band's third album. According to a posting on Kusch's web site, a replacement for singer Jorn Lande, who announced his departure from the group in early May, will be confirmed soon. The band's final show with Lande took place on August 8 at Lokersefeesten in Belgium. A photo taken during the performance can be found at UliKusch.de.
According to a statement released by the band in May, Lande's departure was caused by increased "musical differences" between the vocalist and the rest of the band. During the songwriting process for the group's third album, it became increasingly apparent that the other members of the band had different visions and plans for the group's musical direction. While Jorn wanted MASTERPLAN to follow a more melodic path, the rest of the band wanted to return to the metallic roots of their debut album. More...
German power metallers Masterplan parted ways with their singer Jørn Lande due to musical differences. The statement of their label AFM Records reads as follows:
"Sometimes ways can separate from each other: due to musical differences singer Jorn Lande has left Masterplan last week. During working on the new album the band had to experience that both sides were having different ideas and wishes for the songwriting. While Jorn would have loved to push the style of the band more into the melodic direction, the rest of the band wanted to go back to the metal-roots of the debut album. So the decision was made to go separate ways in the future."
Drummer Uli Kusch about it: "We are not really happy about Jorn's decision, but on the other side it doesn't make sense to continue if the ideas are that different. The music would suffer from it and the music is why we are doing it. We wish Jorn a successful future and want to thank him for everything he did for us. It was a great and interesting time!" More...

Jorn Lande has been tapped to replace Nevermore as the Saturday night headliner at ProgPower USA VII. The singer, whose credits include Masterplan and ARK, will close the show with a unique set covering not only his solo career but songs from the various bands and projects over the course of his entire career.
"I hated to lose Nevermore, but I am ecstatic over being able to get one of the best voices in metal today," said Promoter Glenn Harveston. "After speaking with Jorn, I am convinced that this will be a once in a lifetime set that you won't see anywhere else in the world."
Added Lande: "It's an honor to play ProgPower USA this year. The festival is well known around the world for keeping progressive metal and hard rock alive. We will do our best to give you a few surprises and make it one of the most memorable sets in the history of the festival."

BLOODSTOCK 2005 will comprise 2 separate festivals. The brand new outdoor show BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR ( B-O-A ) will take place on June 24th-25th 2005 at Catton Hall, in the Midlands, with the annual BLOODSTOCK05 – UK Metalfest taking place indoors at the Assembly Rooms in Derby on 2nd-3rd September 2005.
With the indoor festival now having reached capacity within the current location, the next logical step was to find an additional location, and the decision to go outdoors was an easy choice to make as the UK does not have an outdoor Euro-style Metal festival along the lines of Wacken, Bang Your Head and Summer Breeze (DE), Gods of Metal (ITA), Sweden Rock (SWE), Graspop (B), Dynamo (N) and so many more. The current choice of venue, Catton Hall, offers a fantastic location within a rural setting, centrally located within the UK for all areas to reach easily, and yes, camping will be provided. Our initial capacity is for up to 8,000 with further growth at the site to accommodate 20,000 within a few more years. More...
