Gnaw Their Tongues Details New Album

Just over a year since the Abyss Of Longing Throats full-length was released, Dutch experimental/black metal act Gnaw Their Tongues -- the work of frontman and demon channeler Maurice "Mories" De Jong, also of Aderlating, Cloak Of Altering, De Magia Veterum, among others -- has declared December 9th for release of the band's latest LP, "Hymns For The Broken, Swollen And Silent" via Consouling Sounds. Pre-orders can be made at this location. Check out the new song "Hold High The Banners Of Truth Among The Swollen Dead" in the player below.

"Hymns For The Broken, Swollen And Silent" shows Gnaw Their Tongues at the top of it's game. The band started out as a studio project, but has recently started performing live, and it feels like this carefully found its way into the music. Yet, "oppressive," "bleak," and "claustrophobic" remain the key words when describing the unique output of this drone/noise/black metal infused miscreant of De Jong. The music grabs you by the throat and sucks all the air out of the room. Although it leaves little more than an anaerobe environment, the music itself feels likes it has been breathing and organically growing into this true beast of an album. Fully performed and recorded by Mories at the Bejaarde II, Drachten, the artist also mixing and mastering the album, Hymns For The Broken, Swollen And Silent also features guest vocals on "Our Mouths Ridden With Worms" by Hekte Zaren. Today, we shed light upon the malevolent and malicious collaboration between the nihilistic Dragged Into Sunlight and masters of the macabre, Gnaw Their Tongues.

“N.V.” - a five song exorcism due out via Prosthetic Records on November 13 - has been five years in the making and will be a 32-minute release produced by Justin Broadrick (Godflesh, Jesu) and featuring artwork by Seldon Hunt (Neurosis, Isis). Check out a trailer for the collaborative release below.

Dragged Into Sunlight commented, “The level of detail in a recording of this nature is inexplicable. Every note lobotomized, remixed and overexposed, exorcizing total aural madness. Justin Broadrick’s recognition of the effort and finishing touch to its production is of course, an honor.“ More...

Gnaw Their Tongues Announces New Collection

Maryland-based purveyors of sonic annihilation, Crucial Blast, today proclaims that multiple titles from The Netherlands' most terrifying musical entity, Gnaw Their Tongues, are awaiting impending release through the label in 2015.

The releases begin with the January discharging of "Collected Atrocities 2005-2008." Crucial Blast also comments:

"For nearly a decade, Dutch avant-black/doom entity, Gnaw Their Tongues -- named after a particularly evocative passage from the Book Of Revelation -- has been infecting the underground with a uniquely disturbing brand of chaotic heaviness.

"Fusing together malevolent, rumbling doom with rabid, noise-damaged aggression and blasts of fearsome orchestral power and industrial pandemonium, and draping these lurching, hellish dirges in an oppressive atmosphere thick with horror and despair, the intensely nightmarish music of Gnaw Their Tongues defies easy categorization. The sum of all GTT's construction and execution is the work of sole architect and madman, Mories, also known for other destructive output with Cloak of Altering, Pyriphlegethon, De Magia Veterum, Aderlating, Mors Sonat, Pompidou, Dimlit Hate Cellar and others.

"Before the release of the band's Crucial Blast debut, An Epiphanic Vomiting Of Blood, in 2007, Gnaw Their Tongues crawled into the black metal/industrial underground via a number of ultra-limited EPs which quickly went out of print, and are now sought after by fans of the band's abject blackened horror. Collected Atrocities 2005-2008 is a new double CD anthology that gathers together essential, out-of-print early recordings from the band that span the first three years of Gnaw Their Tongues's existence, compiling the Prefering Human Skin Over Animal Fur, Horse Drawn Hearse and For All Slaves... A Song Of False Hope EPs, the material from the Static Hymnal compilation, and other rarities from the bowels of the GTT archive. More...
