Below is our complete Poison Idea news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Day two started at the Holiday Inn. The 7th floor of the Holiday Inn hosted the film portion of the festival. There were also a number of vendors associated with the films there. Angelcorpse guitarist Gene Palubicki was one of the vendors on hand. He starred in the movie “American Guinea Pig: Bloodshock,” the second film in the “American Guinea Pig” series. This film had a major buzz about it. Many fans I talked to expressed a desire to see this film and according to Palubicki the Zombie Room wasn’t big enough to accommodate all interested parties. The event featured a Q & A with director Marcus Koch and producer/screenwriter Steven Biro and was moderated by Bill Moseley (“Texas Chainsaw Massacre II, House of 1,000 Corpses).
The band schedule for both the Aztec and Korova was different than the night before when Korova started early in the day, ended, the Aztec started and then the Korova hosted the last band at 12:30 AM. Today, the Korova started at 6 PM and ran concurrently with the Aztec. Austin d-beat punkers Krigblast opened Korova. More punkisms came via Chicago, Illinois’ Kill It Again and many fans gushed at seeing veterans, Fang. The Aztec hosted a day filled with punk rock, too, starting with Poison Idea, Dropdead and Negative Approach. And the grindcore of Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Cripple Bastards also fit into the punk’s gnarled family tree. More...
This November, Philip H. Anselmo's Housecore Horror Fest will celebrate its third year of audio and visual bedlam. Set to commence in San Antonio, Texas at the Aztec Theater (201 E Commerce St.) on November 13th -15th, 2015, the horror-themed film and metal gala promises to be louder, gorier and more bludgeoning than ever before boasting two film-screening rooms, multiple vendors, special artist signings throughout the weekend and what's morphing into one of the most debilitating lineups of the year!
Already stacked with a crushing bill that includes Agoraphobic Nosebleed performing their second show ever, Corrosion Of Conformity featuring Pepper Keenan, Claudio Simonetti's Goblin doing a live score of George Romero's Dawn Of The Dead, Superjoint, Eyehategod, Nails, Crowbar, Dropdead, Autopsy, Poison Idea, and so many others, the gatekeepers of Housecore Horror Fest today welcome the additions of thrash metal icons, Exodus, veteran death metal legion, Incantation, apocalyptic hardcore punk unit, Gasmiasma, atmospheric drone doom duo, Muscle And Marrow and theatrical heavy metal legend King Diamond whose performance will feature 1987 quintessential second full-length, Abigail, in its harrowing entirety! As an added bonus, Gwar's fabled Sleazy P. Martini will also be attending the annual gathering as a special guest!
And the awesome won't stop there. The fest has expanded the range of its grotesqueries, with a second stage located just steps away from the Aztec Theater. The Korova, at 107 E. Martin St. in San Antonio, will play host to even MORE bands throughout the weekend. Stay tuned for additional band announcements for The Korova in the coming weeks.
Comments Anselmo: "I am beyond excited to announce that the mighty King Diamond will be attacking the house on Friday the 13th at the Housecore Horror Festival. All hail the King."
Adds Maryland Deathfest co-founder Ryan Taylor, who's shaping this year's HHF lineup alongside Anselmo: "It's been a lot of fun piecing together this lineup with Philip. It's gonna be a wild one, so get your tickets while you still can!" More...

Poison Idea is preparing to release the band's first new album since 2006's "Latest Will and Testament."
Southern Lord Recordings, responsible for reissuing the band's back-catalog in recent years, is irresponsible enough to bring to you "Confuse & Conquer," now confirmed for U.S. release on April 7th, 2015. The label comments:
"Soaking up respect from generations of hardcore punks and dishing none out, the dastardly denizens of mid-paced punk shred are in trademark form on 'Confuse & Conquer.' With longstanding members Jerry A (vocals), Eric 'The Vegetable' Olsen (guitar) and Chris 'Spider' Carey (bass) alloyed by the fresh faces of Nathan 'Skinny' Richardson (drums) and Brandon Bentley (guitar), Poison Idea's brand new full-length proves itself both identifiable and rewarding to listeners who have encountered them at any point from their 1980 birth onwards.
"Inventive beyond its steadfast roots, yet altogether as blunt as a stagediver's knee hurtling towards your face, 'Confuse & Conquer' sees the band wasting not a single second on non-music activities, riding high on this wave of creativity. Their forceful hardcore pummel is underwritten with dark humor, rage, disdain, and moments of real melancholy well beyond the usual remit of the genre, but it's to be expected of Portland's nihilistic champions, proudly unaligned with any other sound out there. They were there at the beginning and they'll be there at the end, and in the meantime they have a lot more punk rock left to produce.
"'Confuse & Conquer' was recorded in their hometown by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise) at Audiosiege over the closing few months of 2014, and will see release via Southern Lord on the 7th of April on CD, LP and digital formats. Additionally, expanded reissues of seminal Poison Ideas titles 'War All The Time,' 'Feel The Darkness' and more are also in the works for the coming years. More...
It is with massive enthusiasm that Southern Lord Recordings announces the impending brand new studio LP from long-running, Oregon-based American hardcore punk outfit, Poison Idea. The label comments:
"Over recent months, out of the public eye, the current Poison Idea lineup has been intermittently raiding Audiosiege in Portland for clandestine recording and mastering sessions, covertly harnessing their first new album since 2006's Latest Will And Testament LP.
"Bearing eleven raging new anthems, the new album has been titled Confuse & Conquer. Recorded by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise), the record booms with thirty-five minutes of fully ignited hardcore punk in the monolithic style the band has provided for three-and-a-half decades now.
"Though Confuse & Conquer is the first new Poison Idea album to be released since the passing of iconic guitarist Tom 'Pig Champion' Roberts in early 2006, the loved, infectious sound delivered on the band's seminal albums including 1990's Feel The Darkness and 1992's Blank Blackout Vacant blazes through the entire album. Following last year's resurrection of "Darby Crash Rides Again" and "The Fatal Erection Years," Southern Lord is preparing to deliver the latest release in a series of reissues from Poison Idea's potent catalog, with an expanded edition of the band's 1986 LP, "Kings of Punk."
Southern Lord will re-unleash the 2xCD "Bloated Edition" of this beast in North America on November 26th. The following press release was also issued:
"An unmistakable rager of an album by the Portland hardcore berzerkers, on their second full-length Poison Idea had begun tightening their blazing nailbomb eruptions of noise of their earliest material reflected, and where they really began developing what would become their signature sound. Kicking off with the riff Discharge wish they had written, Kings of Punk is a big, bold slab of premium American hardcore, with undertones of the hard rockin' bombast which would define their later works. From the crazed splutter of 'God Not God,' tripping over itself in a wonderful mess of distress, to the sneering blast of 'Made To Be Broken,' this is Poison Idea at their unparalleled, grittiest, snottiest best.
"Kings of Punk perfectly encapsulates one of the most important bands of the era who took the template of the early '80s and perverted it to fit their own twisted desires. The three live sets, taken from the years '84-'86, offer an even more revealing snapshot of Poison Idea in their destructive prime, drawling insults at the audience, the world and themselves and filling two full CDs, brought kicking and thrashing back to life by Jack Control (World Burns to Death). As well as the unhinged audio content, this reissueis packed with liner notes, archive flyers and photos of the band from the era."
The newest in a series of reissues from Portland’s Poison Idea via Southern Lord has been confirmed. Following the reissue of "Darby Crash Rides Again" early this year, the next in line comes in the form of PI’s "The Fatal Erection Years;" featuring forty-five raw, filthy nasty tracks. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Poison Idea's official debut release was 1983’s short, lo-fi blast of punk/hardcore fury, the Pick Your King EP. The infamous jacket featured a 'choice' of two kings, Jesus (front cover) and Elvis Presley (back cover). It was released on the bands own Fatal Erection label. In 1984, the band released the Record Collectors Are Pretentious Assholes 12” (the cover, featuring guitarist Pig Champion’s substantial vinyl collection). The record found the band incorporating subtle heavy rock elements into their music which was further honed on their contribution to the 1985 Drinking Is Great compilation 7” with the track 'Laughing Boy.' Both Record Collectors… and Drinking… were also self-released on Fatal Erection Records. By this time (84-85), POISON IDEA was in full swing and were perfecting their signature wall of sound: a raging punk attack.
"In cooperation with the band and TKO Records, Southern Lord is honored to release the CD version of The Fatal Erection Years. This compilation collects the Pick Your King 7”, Record Collectors Are Pretentious Assholes LP, and 4 compilation tracks from the era. Exclusive to this CD version, is the entire live set from the band at their best in Portland circa 1983. Live at the Met features 19 live, raw punk blasts and effectively brings this essential archival document to a raucous, destructive end. The audio has been remastered and restored by Jack Control (World Burns to Death, Severed Head of State), and the poster/booklet contains liner notes from Poison Idea vocalist Jerry A, and tons of photos, flyers and more from the band’s early days. A must have for the die-hard fans and any fan of true hardcore, punk rock!
"The Fatal Erection Years will see North American release on August 14th, just two weeks before Poison Idea will storm the two-day The Power Of The Riff East in Brooklyn the same night as Agnostic Front, Pentagram, Negative Approach, Xibalba and more!
"Southern Lord will continue to reissue seminal Poison Ideareleases over the coming months including War All The Time, Ian Mackaye, Feel The Darkness, We Must Burn and Last Will & Testament. Stay tuned." More...
