Southern Lord will be bringing back the furious early era of Wolfbrigade, the band then known as Wolfpack, in a trilogy of reissues this April.
The series will encompass the savage Swedish act's first three LPs -- "A New Dawn Fades," "Lycanthro Punk," and "Allday Hell" -- as well as a boxset including all three LPs and the remaining two EPs released before the group's name change. Southern Lord comments:
"Wolfbrigade was one of the main factors in the renaissance of d-beat driven hardcore punk that ruled the world in the late 1990s and early 2000s, with a legion of bands and labels forming a globally recognized network of crushing momentum, siren-like leads and earnest anger sourced from political dissatisfaction and the need to build from the ground up a DIY system.
"Wolfbrigade's music stood at the forefront, in no small part down to their instantly identifiable brand of destructive riffing, riddled with chaos and ire, and with a fatally catchy tendency to structure tracks in a manner that kept the listener captive, slammed between a constant buffeting of high-speed verses and snappy choruses. Add to that their bare-bones intensity, underwritten by the storming d-beat drumming.
"The first three albums cemented their direct blasting approach and remain longstanding favorites, before their transformation at the turn of the millennium brought in darker tones and alternate directions. More...

Sweden's Wolfbrigade has checked in with the following year-end recap and announcement about upcoming activity:
"Dear December. 2012 has been a fantastic year for us, a year to remember. 'Damned' was released on Southern Lord Recordings and La Familia Releases and seems to have been embraced by old and new fans. The gigs we have done in Europe and North America have been the best we have ever done. We really appreciate everyone coming out and all the hard work from the organizers.
"Not to forget, we did the one off all-Wolfpack songs gig in Prague. Everyone who keeps asking for more of that, we ALWAYS play, around 50%, songs of the Wolfpack albums, it's the same band, folks. Sure, there's been 3 changes in the personnel over the last 18 years, but few bands that stick together this long has all original members left. We have been the same members for the last 9 years now and are looking forward to many more, even if the past will always be a part of us.
"The brigade is in hibernation over the winter but we will start building on our new rehearsal space (aka the Wolf's Den) and studio( engineered by Jocke - and yes, he will be recording other bands as well, more about that later on), as well as starting to plan our next moves. See you in 2013." More...
As Swedish crust icons Wolfbrigade set their savage debut Southern Lord LP, "Damned," loose on the public this week, today BrooklynVegan is streaming the entire 12-track album right here.
Recorded at the renowned Gothenburg-based Studio Fredman (At The Gates, Amon Amarth, Opeth), "Damned" is a stark reminder of exactly why Wolfbrigade is considered a pioneer of the Swedish d-beat/crust movement and is undoubtedly one of the strongest releases in the band's history. The following press release was also issued:
"Initially known as Wolfpack, Wolfbrigade have been storming the scene since 1995. The outfit unleashed three LPs and as many EPs of their potent crust-inspired punk in less than five years, instantly making a massively influential impact worldwide and helping fuel an entire new wave of 'd-beat' bands and scenes internationally. With some personnel changes at the turn of the century the band kicked off the new millennium under the revamped moniker Wolfbrigade.
"Since then the band's already powerful attack became even more sinister and morose, yet more aggressive and pummeling. Following four LPs and several splits and mini-releases under the Wolfbrigade banner since 2001, the outfit have remained at the top of their game and continue to release invigorating and demoralizing socially-aimed antagonism on a regular basis."
Wolfbrigade wreaks havoc on the masses once again this week as the band unleash the furious, explosive and outright anthemic, "Ride The Steel" from the forthcoming LP "Damned" via our comrades at Terrorizer Magazine.
