Tyr, hailing all the way from the Faroe Islands, is currently recording a new album with producer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Aborted, Mercenary) at his studio in Denmark.
For drum tracking on this album, Tyr has enlisted the services of George Kollias, primarily known for his work in Nile and Nightfall. A video featuring drum tracking highlights, as well as a short message from Kollias, is available below.
George Kollias comments on the experience: "Hey Týr fans, this is George Kollias and I hope you are ALL ready for a crushing new album from Týr! I had the pleasure to record the drums on the new album, we had an absolutely great time in the studio and I gotta tell you, the material is super strong and catchy, I'm 100% sure you will all love this new album!! Big thanks to Heri, Terji and Gunnar for the opportunity and to Jacob Hansen for his incredible work with the recordings!"
The band adds: "It was a pleasure to have George in studio. He's an amazing drummer and he certainly made an impact on this album. We're very excited to release this album." More...

American death metal masters Nile have uploaded a making-of clip for “Enduring The Eternal Molestation Of Flame," providing behind-the-scenes impressions of last year’s intense video shooting in Greece.
The track is taken from Nile’s latest necromancy “At The Gate Of Sethu” (reviewed here), out on Nuclear Blast since June 29th, 2012. Check out the clip below.
The clip was directed by Jon Simvonis (Septic Flesh, Devil's Train), who remembers: “Filming Nile, a band with such a strong connection and retrospection to the Ancient Egyptian spirit, was really a creative challenge. I found myself almost traveling in time and space through the whole research process prior to making the video. All of our production and creative department teams, within Magnum Production Studios Co. were really excited to take on this project and bring it to life. Approaching Ancient Egypt, through Africa and using Nubia, a region along the Nile river, was for me the perfect marriage of Egyptian iconic imagery and the regions long religious history. A region that dealt in the underworld and was also the birthplace of the very first Voodoo practices. Two worlds so close, but yet so far one from another.” More...

Nile, the reigning kings of technical historically-themed brutality, has posted a music video online for “Enduring the Eternal Molestation of Flame" online, which is available below.
The clip was produced and directed by Jon Simvonis for Magnum Production Studios Co. and Arctos Broadcast Facilities. It also features the African Heritage group and photography by Philippos Kokkalis.
“It was truly an honor to direct the new Nile video; a band with so many diehard fans and such a strong impact in the metal scene,” commented Simvonis. “The video concept, as a matter of fact, was inspired by the culture and the ritual habits of the Ancient Nubia, a region along the Nile River, which is located in northern Sudan and Southern Egypt. The research and design elements of the video led to a really interesting combination of the Ancient Egyptian myths, through the prism of the Nubian African Voodoo Burial rituals. Two worlds set so close, yet so far from each other.” More...

... Continued from Part II...
11:00am. After two full days of brushing my teeth with bottled water, “morning” and “night” (relative terms), without a sink, I have toothpaste streaked in white stains all over my army-green shorts. I’ve already lost count of people who’ve asked me how much I’ve been jerking it.
12:00pm. A bracing gust of wind pummels the gazebo. So far, the guy lines and tent pegs anchoring the flimsy metal stanchions to the ground have held (with some occasional coaxing), but they’ve taken a beating from the continuous breeze. We’re situated on the crest of a slope that scoops up the air and sends it hurtling into our camp. More...
