Nervecell Releases New Music Video

Nervecell has now officially released a new video for "Shunq (To The Despaired…King Of Darkness)" featuring Karl Sanders (Nile) on guest vocals. The song appears on Nervecell's latest album "Psycogenocide" released on Lifeforce Records (Europe) & Spellbind Records (Middle East). The video was shot in the city of Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates, directed by Shane De Almeida and edited by Ahmad Al Sharif.

Commented the band: "This particular song is special to the band as it will mark the first extreme metal track ever to include both Arabic lyrics mixed in with English lyrics, and who better else to have come on board and collaborate on this theme with us than the legendary Karl Sanders!

"The word 'Shunq' in Arabic has two meanings: to choke or to be hung by the neck. The song consists mainly of ideas and knowledge gathered from sources that speak about Lucifer and the demons that serve him. The song speaks about the battle of us humans and these demons in reality, in the end Satan himself brought forth to justice." More...

Nile To Play Summer Breeze Fest

Nile, which is in the process of recording the follow-up to the "Those Whom the Gods Detest" album, has just been confirmed for Germany's Summer Breeze Open Air 2012. The festival organizers commented:

"For years we tried, but it never worked out. Now, just in time for the 15th anniversary of SUMMER BREEZE, Dinkelsbühl will host a master class in Egyptology for the first time ever. NILE are gearing up to shake everything and everyone to the core with their destructive, highly technical death metal whirlwinds. Tons of breaks, a wide backdrop of atmospheric oriental sounds, raging blast beats, ultra heavy slow parts, NILE have been synonimous with all of this for 19 years and six studio albums now.

"Their fifth album ('Ithyphallic') even made it to position 76 of the German album charts, an incredible feat considering the extremism of NILE's music. And the band led by Karl Sanders will show you exactly how extreme they can be when they deliver their show at SUMMER BREEZE! History lessons don't get any more fun and brutal than this!"

Nile Issues Recording Update

Karl Sanders of Nile has checked in with the following announcement about working on the follow-up to the "Those Whom the Gods Detest" album:

"We are finished tracking drums for the new Nile album - George, Dallas, Neil Kernon, and I spent a week with Bob Moore at the Soundlab in Columbia SC, tracking drums.

"We were expecting a long grueling session - some of this material is very compositionally challenging and technically demanding, but George knocked it out, finishing a FULL WEEK ahead of schedule. OMG.

"Some of the drumming on this record will be boggling people's minds for years to come. At the moment we are back in Greenville, and will commence tracking guitars any day now. Fuck yeah!"

Musicians Comment On New Morbid Angel Album

Morbid Angel's new album "Illud Divinum Insanus" will be out in less than a week, and Season of Mist has now asked a series of famous names in the metal what they thought of the influential extreme metal act's new opus. The commentary from the various musicians can be viewed below, or you can check out Metalunderground.com's review here.

"The new Morbid Angel album will cause 3rd World War. After June 7th, the extreme metal scene is never gonna be the same again... And I already can't wait the moment I'll be sitting on my sofa listening to 'Illus Divinum Insanus' while the world burns! Ha!" - Nergal, Behemoth.

"No other band in the entire Extreme Metal genre but Morbid Angel would have ever dared to make 'Illud Divinum Insanus'. There are going to be quite a few unimaginative underground purists who think they know better what kind of album Morbid Angel should or should not be putting out, but with 'Illud Divinum Insanus' Trey and David prove that they answer to no one but themselves. It is an incredibly well written, performed, recorded and produced record." - Karl Sanders, Nile.

"One of the best death metal releases since their last album with Vincent. I'm not too much into the techno bits but I am a dude who will appreciate and respect bands doing new things, progressing... So it's all good. Vincent's vocals of course are still as good as they come. And the riffs are definitely there, Trey always delivers. New drummer is killer too!" - Mikael Akerfeldt, Opeth.

"The ultimate voice of death metal is back, as hellish as ever!" - Mikael Stanne, Dark Tranquillity.

"Glad to see Morbid Angel are back! We had our share of criticism when we first incorporated electronic elements in our sound and we know it takes courage and passion to follow one's own stream of inspiration. This time the guitar work is more impressive than ever and those 11 songs are a real 'tour de force'. With this new album they're not afraid to take the hit from the more conservative audience but that's what it means to be extreme!" - Vorph, Samael

"Innovation, wits and a feral 'no compromise' attitude is what brands the greatest of bands. 'Illud Divinum Insanus' is all that and a leap further! Hail Morbid Angel!" - Rune "Blasphemer" Eriksen, Ava Inferi, ex Mayhem. More...
