Last Known Status: Active
Forming in 1989, the original Marilyn Manson line-up consisted of part-time journalist Manson (b. Brian Warner, 5 January 1969, Canton, Ohio, USA; vocals/tape loops), Daisy Berkowitz (guitar), Olivia Newton-Bundy (bass) and Zsa Zsa Speck (keyboards), later joined by Sara Lee Lucas (drums) - all the band members assuming forenames of female icons and surnames of famous murderers. Bundy and Speck were replaced at the end of 1989 by Gidget Gein and Madonna Wayne Gacy (b. Steve Bier), respectively.
The best description I think I have ever seen of Manson comes from RollingStone Magazine. It goes like this:
"Imagine Alice Cooper times 10. Picture KISS on an acid and whiskey bender. Marry the gross-out hilarity of G.G. Allin with the ubiquity of Howard Stern. Combine the "search and destroy" frenzy of Iggy Pop with the godless zeal of Ozzy Osbourne. Take two cups of the devil and throw in a pinch of P.T. Barnum, and you still can't fathom all that is...Marilyn Manson."
To me this describes the whole aura and prescence of Manson. The band has caused controversy with almost everything they have done. Manson has been sued, arrested, and banned in certain cities from playing live. They were accused of providing the thoughts that were brought out during the 'Columbine School Shootings' with one of their song's lyrics.
To fans, Manson is a God. His live shows are as heavy and exciting as any other metal tour around. During live performances Manson has been known to piss on the crowd, kill chickens, engage in sexual acts, tear the Bible, stab himself, and the list goes on.

We're currently booking shows for January-February 2009 in the U.S. with Combichrist. A few more possible engagements have presented themselves before next year, but we'll have to wait and see how things turn out. I can't wait to come over to Europe and Japan. So much is happening. Marilyn Manson spoke to RollingStone.com about his reunion with longtime collaborator guitarist Twiggy Ramirez for Manson's Eat Me, Drink Me tour.
Though the two had already re-connected during a chance meeting on the streets of Los Angeles, it was Manson witnessing another reunion that inspired him to invite Twiggy back. "The turning point for me was when I went to see LED ZEPPELIN's reunion show, and I saw Jimmy Page and Robert Plant look at each other for a moment, and they probably said, 'Holy shit, we wrote 'Stairway To Heaven'.' I wanted that look again," Manson explains. "I want to look at Twiggy and go 'Holy shit, we wrote 'The Beautiful People'.' I called him and I said 'Let's go do this.'" Plus, the duo had some unfinished business. "We started music together because we wanted to bring about the apocalypse, and we realized we didn't finish," Manson says. "The world could suffer much more if we were together again, and we really wanted to bring back the suffering."

MARILYN MANSON's performance at the Manchester Central in England Thursday night (December 6) was delayed slightly when the group's bass player was hit by a bottle thrown from the crowd. Manson dealt with the perpetrator by pointing him out to the angry mob and stating, "I just wanna be sure that you guys know that I did not say, 'Beat the shit out of him.' I said, 'No, whatever you do, don't beat the shit out of that guy that raised his hand. No matter what, don't beat that guy's fucking skull in, no matter what."
Watch fan-filmed video footage of Manson's speech below.
Manson has called his sixth studio album, "Eat Me, Drink Me" his most personal record yet, with many of the lyrics inspired by the end of his marriage to burlesque dancer Dita von Teese, the depression that followed, and his new romance with Evan Rachel Wood.
The video for the album's first single, "Heart Shaped Glasses", features several softcore sex scenes between Manson and Wood. When asked by Rolling Stone how her parents reacted to the clip, Manson said, "Well, I had to have a drink with Evan's mother and father. The main thing that needs to be established is that I might share my life with her, but that does not incriminate her in my behavior...Basically, I'm not as bad in the way they'd like to think I am. But I'm bad in a different way. I'm always going to be bad."
The shock rocker also called Wood "the most unique, stand-alone person who doesn't need a relationship with me to further her career." More...

Billy Sloan of the Glasgow Sunday Mail reports that Marilyn Manson's girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood joins the singer on stage every night during his current tour. Well, almost.
Manson told the Glasgow Sunday Mail: "I've built a robot replica of my girlfriend. She brings me absinthe on stage — like any wonderful girl should.
"There's a very sentimental moment where I slice her head off and perform my sarcastic version of 'Hamlet' with it.
"It's very lifelike. Backstage, people stumble across it and say: 'Hello Evan' — and it's not her. Her response is a strange mix of confusion and amazement."
In 1999, Manson was blamed for being the inspiration for the Columbine high school massacre when two students — said to be fans — shot 13 pupils dead.
And last month a 14-year-old wearing a Manson T-shirt shot four people before killing himself at a school in Cleveland.
Manson told the Glasgow Sunday Mail: "If a kid wants to be violent all they need to do is join the army. I just want people to feel emotion — good or bad."
Now Manson would like to appear in a TV reality show.
He said: "I'm guilty of watching reality television. It's really shocking how fucked up people are.
"I've been offered a lot but always turned them down. But I'd do one if it involved machine guns and hookers."
ROB ZOMBIE/ex-MARILYN MANSON guitarist John 5's new instructional DVD, which was previously due by Halloween, has had its release date pushed back to January 2008. John has also started work on a new instrumental CD for a 2008 release.
John 5 released his third solo album, "The Devil Knows My Name", on April 3. The CD features guest guitar solos from two legendary guitarists — Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson — plus SLIPKNOT's Jim Root. Keeping time are John's ZOMBIE bandmates Tommy Clufetos (drums) and Piggy D. (bass). According to a press release, this is the only album that all leads were doubled — an instrumental feat that is rarely taken on by the best of the guitar players.
John 5's second solo album, "Songs for Sanity" (2005), featured guest guitar solos from Steve Vai and Albert Lee. John also worked with KISS frontman Paul Stanley on Stanley's second solo album, "Live to Win", which was released in October.
