The Obsessed Posts Making-Of Footage

Earlier this month, doom outfit The Obsessed unveiled the "Sacred" full-length album alongside a trippy new Jimmy Hubbard-produced visual accompaniment to the record's title track. Today, the band is pleased to unleash a five-and-a-half-minute making of clip giving viewers a look at the video's creation from concepts to costumes.

Elaborates guitarist/vocalist Scott "Wino" Weinrich: "This Majikal story of love, lust, and inter-dimensional travel was realized in both dream and reality by the collaboration and wizardry of Jimmy Hubbard, The Obsessed, and Mr. Danger. The imagery of the story was executed by the savage energy of Sam and the stunning, exotic beauty and talent of Rachel Watson. It's all about passion, power, and dreams that do not die." More...

Relapse Records is extremely proud to announce the signing of legendary hard rock / doom metal band The Obsessed. Formed in 1976 by Scott "Wino" Weinrich (Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan, Shrinebuilder, Probot etc.), the band recently reformed and is on the road now.

Karma To Burn Announces U.S. Tour

Karma To Burn will hit the road this spring with The Obsessed and The Atomic Bitchwax. The tour starts May 13th in Washington, DC and runs through June 11th in Atlanta, GA, with a complete list of dates available below. Karma To Burn commented on the upcoming tour:

"What better way to follow a full European tour than following The Obsessed and Atomic Bitchwax around America? How about a month off in Sardinia, followed by a year living in the Netherlands. As much as we would like that, we should do the tour, it's only our second full U.S. tour in 5 years, so we're a bit overdue in our own country.

"The stacked lineup and extensive schedule should make up for our absence. The Obsessed... Wino... the demi-god of DOOM... we couldn't pick a better U.S. band to support. But honestly we're most excited about the burritos and burgers. See you on the road." More...

The Obsessed To Re-Issue "The Church Within"

Biker metal, doom metal, stoner metal... whatever metal subgenre in which you wish to place him, Scott "Wino" Weinrich has been at the forefront of it for over thirty years.

The unmistakable rasp of his vocals and thick, fuzzy Gibson guitar tone have spearheaded bands ranging from Saint Vitus to Spirit Caravan to Probot, but for many his crowning achievement (and most accessible) was "The Church Within," the last album he created with his first band, The Obsessed.

Originally released via Columbia in 1994, "The Church Within is being reissued by Real Gone Music on CD and double 180-gram gatefold vinyl with two bonus tracks -- the single, "Mental Kingdom," and the unreleased number, "Melancholy Grey" -- added photos, the original album art with lyrics and a new note from Wino himself. Power Of The Riff Now A Week Away

The fourth annual installment of the The Power Of The Riff festival in Los Angeles is now just a week away, the event including a pre-party on Friday, August 9th at The Echo and two-stage, full-day lineup Saturday, August 10th, at both The Echo and Echoplex.

Amidst the massive roster of crushing newcomer acts and classic heavyweights set to execute sets over the two-day fest, one of the main headlining performances of the weekend will be the original lineup of LA crossover act Final Conflict - founder Jeff Harp, vocalist Ron Martinez and bassist Warren Renfrow (Manic Hispanic, Cadillac Tramps) - for the first time in 24 years.

In the 1980s, Final Conflict was part of the first wave of punk bands to be labeled "crossover," with a sonic mix of Discharge meeting Black Sabbath coupled with political lyrics the appropriate soundtrack to inspire a troublemaker to slam, headbang, or throw a brick at a cop... and sometimes all three.

The band will perform 1987's "Ashes To Ashes" LP in sequence as well as early demo material. Although older, the band has no intentions of “phoning it in” - expect a brutal and energetic set.

Additional headlining acts The Obsessed, M.D.C., From Ashes Rise, Black Breath, Iceburn, and others join more than twenty additional bands including Early Graves, Mammoth Grinder, Bastard Noise, Dead in the Dirt, and tons more taking part in the melee. The lineup is:

Friday, August 9th @ The Echo // pre-party:
Black Breath, Early Graves, Obliterations, Nomads, Creative Adult

Saturday, August 10th @ The Echo & Echoplex
The Obsessed, Final Conflict, From Ashes Rise, M.D.C., Iceburn, Iron Lung, Mammoth Grinder, Bastard Noise, Condition, Dead In The Dirt, Baptists, Replica, Completed Exposition, Centuries, Wartorn, Territory, Whip Hand, Children Of God, Old Wounds, Opposition Rising

"Curated and organized by Greg Anderson and Sam James Velde, The Power Of The Riff honors fans and musicians of all ages from within all walks and lifestyles under the umbrella of the heavy music underground. Tapping into a lineup that represents forefathers, milestones and current touring acts, while shedding light on up and coming bands and local acts, The Power Of The Riff festival is an all-day, all-ages event.
