Orange County ambient-metal quintet EYES OF FIRE has posted the following message on its official web site:
"EYES OF FIRE have had yet more line-up changes since we've last updated you all. Bobby Thomas [guitar] has decided to leave the band on his own accord.
"EYES OF FIRE wish him the best of luck and know that good things will come to him and his tremendous talent. EYES OF FIRE would like to thank Bobby for doing these tours and dealing with our smelly asses for the last year or so, being cramped in a van and not getting a good night's sleep ever while on the road. Good luck, Bobby, you will be missed. More...
Orange County metal quintet EYES OF FIRE have parted ways with keyboardist Pete Truax. "He was released of all his duties within the band and will no longer be representing the band in any way, shape, or form," the group write on their web site. "Unfortunately, Pete's disrespect for fellow bandmates as well as other bands on the ['One Nation Undivided' tour with ILL NINO, GOD FORBID, SILENT CIVILIAN and BLEED THE SKY] was the cause of his release. EYES OF FIRE wish Pete great luck in the future and hopes he finds a band or a career which will fulfill all his needs and wishes.
"Now, that being said EYES OF FIRE will be finishing the tour without keyboards. The show last night in San Diego was great and the band did not miss a step.
"EYES OF FIRE will be looking for a new keyboard player/noise generator to fill in this gap once the tour is over. The band requests all interested parties to send their demos as well as a short resume which should include past band experience and influences to:

EYES OF FIRE's "One Nation Undivided" tour, which runs through early June, is the group's first major national run in support of their latest CD, "Prisons", which was recorded at Grandmaster Recorders (TOOL, NINE INCH NAILS) with renowned producer Matt Bayles (MASTODON, ISIS).
Bleed The Sky guitarist Kyle Moorman offers this update from the road while on the Jagermeister-sponsored tour with Ill Niño, God Forbid, Silent Civilian and Eyes Of Fire:
"This is the BEST tour we've been on! We've done two shows in New York City and Boston and both nights were awesome. We're always pushing ourselves to be better, to find new stuff to do on-stage, to give it our all for our live shows, and crowds like that definitely give us the energy we need to do that! Cristian [Machado, lead singer for Ill Niño] has watched our set every night. It's very flattering to have someone appreciating our music like that, and we're still on the road with our great friends in Silent Civilian. They REALLY helped us out when the transmission on our van blew up in Albuquerque by taking a lot of our gear in their trailer so we could make it home. I'll say it again: This is the BEST tour we've been on!"
Eyes of Fire spoke to MTV.com about their latest video and touring situation:
The only thing Eyes of Fire frontman Dan Kaufman knows about the video for "It All Dies Today" — the first single off the Orange County ambient-metal quintet's sophomore disc, Prisons — is that it's "f---ing bizarre."
Of course, there's an underlying plotline to the clip — girl moves into creepy apartment building, deranged spirits haunt girl, girl loses mind. But Kaufman said Gary Smithson's warped vision is responsible for the entire video — so don't ask him to explain, say, the one scene involving a collection of old men gathered at a birthday bash for a pampered feline.
"I'm just glad there's not a whole lot of us in it," he joked. "You can see we're playing and tell who we are. We're in there when we need to be I guess. But when I watch it, all I can think is 'The Grudge' meets 'The Shining' with a David Lynch twist."
Kaufman said much of the video's imagery was inspired by the paintings of Francis Bacon. Smithson — who has worked with Exodus, the Eagles of Death Metal and High on Fire — is a fan of the English artist. Kaufman — who, with bassist Matt Fisher, spent much of the late '90s in Mindrot — added that he's hoping the disturbing clip will help Eyes of Fire keep their collective asses in a van, traveling from one city to the next.
Playing a steady stream of shows has been something of a problem for the band in the past, according to Kaufman. Eleven months after Eyes of Fire dropped their 2004 debut, Ashes to Embers, they secured their first national tour — an opening slot on Glenn Danzig's Blackest of the Black run.
"We were bidding on tours left and right [but] for some reason nothing came together," he explained. "We were in the process of recording Prisons with [producer] Matt [Bayles, who has worked with Mastodon and Isis] when Danzig got a hold of us for the tour, and so we had to relearn all of the old songs. It was stressful. As soon as we got done recording, we had a week and a half to practice before we had to head to St. Louis, where the tour started. And we played with Danzig, Trivium, Apocalyptica and Kataklysm for a month."
Eyes of Fire's headlining run with Losa in the support slot wrapped up a few weeks ago, and now they're waiting to see what fate will hand them next tourwise. Kaufman said it's possible they'll head out with one of the bands on Roadrunner's roster, and they've expressed interest in participating in Sounds of the Underground or Gigantour 2. "We just want to stay on the road for as long as we can," he said. "Being a band like us, we're not going to get radio play. You just need to be in everybody's face and be out there."

When I heard that Apocalyptica, a Finnish band best known for playing Metallica songs on four cellos, was finally planning a full US tour, I was hopeful that they'd come to the DC area. Their show on September 12 at the 9:30 club in Washington, DC was, in fact, the first stop on this tour – the band had actually left Finland earlier that day (their time), I discovered. That Monday happened to be the day I returned from a week of vacation, but I was determined to catch their show and finally see them live after their release of five albums and many years of never touring in the States. I would have loved to have seen them before, but if this show could be considered payback for that wait, it was well worth it. More...

The much-anticipated "Blackest of the Black" U.S. Tour, which was set to feature headliners Danzing alongside Doyle (ex-Misfits), Mayhem, Death Angel, Devildriver and Eyes Of Fire, has been cancelled. "We are extremely upset by this news as the band has prepared for months and are in top shape to conquer the country!" Mayhem guitarist Blapshemer said in a statement. "Unfortunately, this decision was not made by us and beyond our control. From our side, everything was planned, confirmed, taken care of and verbally agreed with the management of and Danzig himself. If it was up to us, we would be on your shores within days! The fate of the tour was not in our hands, and I can't elaborate beyond that statement. However, don't get too comfortable. In the midst of winter, 2005, we shall return with the 'Rape Humanity with Pride Tour' complete a horrific stage presentation. So, to all our fans, stay Black and we will see you all early next year. The beast of Mayhem cannot be stopped!!"
Eyes of Fire are proud to welcome Nicky Bernardi to the fold. Nicky will be taking over drums/percussion/noise and other random acts of craziness. Haddad had to unfortunately depart due to family and other business matters. John will be running Shiva Industries (the recording studio started by Matt Fisher and himself which has recorded such acts as: Phobia, Scars of Tomorrow, Noctuary, Winterthrall, Dreams of Damnation, Killing Theory, among others.). Nicky is a transplant from the San Francisco Bay Area via Chicago where he was the most rockingest drummer for Bay Area hardcore/thrash kings The Sick. One practice down and the band already feels revitalized and ready to destroy the world with much more ferocity than ever before.
The Fall bill for "Blackest Of The Black" 2004 Tour has been announced. It will be " DANZIG" w/X-Misfits Band-mate "DOYLE" in a guest set, original Black Metal Legends MAYHEM, DEVILDRIVER featuring former Coal Chamber front-man Dez Farfara, DEATH ANGEL Reunion (S.F. Death Metal Legends) and dark newcomers EYES OF FIRE.
"Blackest of the Black” organizer Glenn Danzig had this comment: "At least in the foreseeable future... this will be my last tour. It seems like I have been touring my whole life and I want to take some time for myself and do many of the things I've always wanted to do, like direct my first feature film, which I will be doing this next year.”
As this may be the last show for Glenn Danzig to tour as DANZIG , he explains about the show and line-up with former band-mate Doyle. “So, to do this right, I invited DOYLE to join DANZIG on Stage at "Blackest Of The Black" for a ‘Special Guest’ MISFITS set. This is the first time we will be performing on stage together in 20 years. It's the closest thing to a MISFITS Reunion anyone is ever going to see!”
DANZIG will be supporting their new album “Circle Of Snakes” on sale August 31st , 2004. Tickets will go on sale July 25.
