NextMosh.com has released a video interview with Huntress lead woman Jill Janus, which was recorded on October 25th, 2013 at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Check out the interview below, or you can also read the band's year-end message to fans at this location.
Huntress has locked down another year of victories as a newcomer metal band having released sophomore album "Starbound Beast" and touring non-stop. Vocalist Jill Janus comemnts:
"This has been an incredible year for the band, 2013 began with Huntress writing and recording our 2nd album Starbound Beast, which was produced by Zeuss. We've been touring virtually non-stop -- Sweden Rock Festival, Download Festival, The Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival, Heavy MTL, Danzig's 25th Anniversary Tour with Doyle, and ending a wild year as the opening act for Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage and Testament in North America. No rest for the wicked!
"Our video for 'Zenith' (directed by Phil Mucci) was filmed during our hectic tour schedule. It surpassed our expectations and truly captured the vision of our album. It's part of our legacy, and part of our path to rise above the glorification of mediocrity. Huntress is here for the long haul; our determination, vision and love of music will continue to be our driving force. Hail Heavy Metal!"
2014 will begin right where 2013 left off - seeing Huntress join forces again with Lamb of God, this time for a European/UK tour with Decapitated. The band will also play a string of headline shows, four of which have been announced so far with more to be added soon. See below for a complete list of all dates. More...
Huntress has checked in with the following statement about missing last night's tour date:
"We're alive! Huntress was unable to play the show last night in Saskatoon, Canada due to extremely dangerous road conditions. We really missed meeting our Sasky fans!
"We spun out, nearly being hit by a semi truck and jack-knifed our trailer. No one was hurt. I feel so blessed to have four bandmates who handled a very scary situation like warriors. After 36 hours in this van, we finally crossed the U.S. Border just now.
"I've never been happier to be back home in America. Thanks to Lamb of God for the prayers & love! We'll be back to melting faces tomorrow in St Paul, MN at Myth w/ LOG, Killswitch Engage & Testament!"

Huntress has kicked off yet another year of relentless touring, following the release of latest album "Starbound Beast." After a run on this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Huntress also just wrapped up a tour with Glenn Danzig for his 25th Anniversary tour with Misfits guitarist Doyle.
Vocalist Jill Janus had this to say about her time on the road with Glenn Danzig: "Touring with Danzig has been surreal. As an angsty teenage girl, I used to dream that one day I would duet with Glenn Danzig. Being chosen to tour with him was already mind blowing, but I also had the honor of singing 'Skulls' with him in St. Paul, MN! I was watching the show from side stage. Doyle had just played a couple Misfits songs with the band. Then I see Glenn turn and ask if I'd like to join him for a duet! Performing with two of my idols was stellar. This has been a killer experience for Huntress, watching Glenn Danzig nightly from the wings, he has mastered his craft and we've learned a lot from him on this short run. He's also hilarious, his sense of humor and attitude have made our time with him so much more incredible! Hail Danzig!"
After a short break this September, Huntress will be back on the road with Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, and Testament. The tour kicks off October 22nd in Toronto, ON, and runs through November 26th in Silver Spring, MD. It has also been confirmed that Lamb of God will be taking Huntress to Europe and the UK in early 2014. A complete list of dates can be found below. More...
Huntress has kicked off yet another year of relentless touring, following the release of "Starbound Beast." The band had a run on this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, and is currently out on the road with Danzig for his 25th Anniversary tour with Misfits guitarist Doyle.
Today, Huntress is proud to present a video for the song "Zenith." The clip was directed by Phil Mucci. Watch the new video below, courtesy of Bloody Disgusting.
Director Phil Mucci spoke about working with Jill Janus: "Jill doesn't compromise; she wanted something her fans would cherish for years to come. In a disposable world, she's very conscious of her legacy, as am I. It's more than a music video to us. It's a gateway drug."
Jill cannot wait for the fans to see "Zenith," stating: "You better pack your bongs now 'cuz this is going to trip you the fuck out! Huntress is ecstatic about our new music video for 'Zenith'. Director Phil Mucci is a visionary who brought our galactic hallucinations to life. Huntress dedicates 'Zenith' to our fans who've inspired us on this path, and who continue to travel with us on our cosmic musical journey. The night of August 8th was to mark the first appearance of Amon Amarth and Children of Bodom in Nashville, TN at Marathon Music Works. In what was to be a night packed with unfortunate surprises, the venue ended up being changed (and subsequently downsized) to a smaller venue known as the Exit/In, which sold out completely. Adding to that, it was announced shortly before the first set of the night that Children of Bodom would not play their set, due to the hospitalization of Bodom front man Alexi Laiho.
Some of the attendees decided to take a refund and leave after the announcement had been made, clearly Bodom loyalists. Most of the audience stayed for the duration of the show, as it was also announced that Battlecross, Huntress, and Amon Amarth would be playing longer sets to make up for the absence of the co-headliners. Those who stayed were at least treated to a blistering few sets, easily making up for the price of admission. Amon Amarth prepared an especially powerful set that turned the packed venue's air into a murky soup of hot sweat. More...
Long-time friends Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage have joined forces for a can't miss tour in the fall of 2013. The tour launches October 22nd in Toronto and canvases much of the U.S and Canada.
The two bands will combine for 28 North American shows in total. Support for all shows except Los Angeles will be provided by thrash legends Testament, with Huntress opening all shows.
Lamb of God will end the North American portion of the "Resolution" record cycle with this tour. It will include a coast to coast visit to all major Canadian cities which will be Lamb of God’s first visit to Canada on this cycle other than a festival play in June in Montebello and a show in Toronto in January 2012. Lamb of God will then finish the Resolution cycle completely with a visit to Europe and South Africa in January 2014. Details on that tour will be released late August. More...

I'm taking a time machine back to high-five and freak out with my thirteen year old self! This rules!"

Huntress will be following last year's "Spell Eater" (reviewed here) with "Starbound Beast," to be released on July 2nd during the band's run with the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. The band has now issued the following press release about launching a crowd funding campaign to help pay for the trek:
"Huntress is about to embark on the biggest tour opportunity of their new career, as well as the most demanding and expensive. Huntress has teamed up with fellow Mayhem brothers Battlecross to share the cost for a bus this summer, since their tour vans can't handle the extreme heat. And that is only the beginning of the financial strain for a young metal band with minimal tour support.
"Huntress has started an indiegogo (Virtual Yard Sale) campaign to ensure their participation in the festival. Check out their indiegogo page here, featuring enticing packages and unique collector items. Some of the perks offered are signed CD DigiPaks and Vinyl of their upcoming album Starbound Beast, and packages that feature tickets to Mayhem Festival plus hang outs with the band. Water balloon fights, parking lot BBQs and Astrological readings with Jill Janus are also offered up for sacrifice. Some of the most exclusive perks include the sword prop and red cloak from the 'Eight of Swords' video, and Blake's 1979 Custom GMC Vandura. More items and unique opportunities will be added as well."
In more Huntress related Mayhem news, vocalist Jill Janus will host the first ever Shred-Meister guitar competition. Festival attendees can go to the Jägermeister tents on site and audition for a chance to shred for 10 seconds on the main stage. Each day, one of the 10 finalists will win a custom Jägermeister guitar from Schecter and the overall winner at the end of the tour will win a custom Jägermeister full stack and head courtesy of Peavey Electronics. Huntress is back with the follow-up to debut album "Spell Eater," which was released in 2012. The new album entitled "Starbound Beast" will be released on June 28th in Europe and on July 2nd in North America via Napalm Records.
The band recorded the album at Hobby Shop Studios in Los Angeles, CA, working with famed producer Zeuss (Shadows Fall, Hatebreed, Agnostic Front). The artwork for Starbound Beast was created once again by Vance Kelly (Slayer, Ghost B.C., Mastodon).
Today Huntress has unveiled the first song from "Starbound Beast." The track entitled "I Want to Fuck You to Death" was co-written for singer Jill Janus by legendary Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister. Check it out at the band's Facebook page.
Frontwoman Jill Janus spoke about the collaboration: "I met Lemmy through my former band Chelsea Girls. We'd play hard rock and metal covers featuring guest celebrities. Lemmy was already friends with the girls, so he played "Ace of Spades" with us and it blew my mind. We stayed in touch and would meet up at The Rainbow for drinks. So I asked him a few months back over Jack & Cokes if he'd write lyrics for a Huntress song and he said 'Sure'. A few weeks later, I met him at the studio during Motorhead recording sessions. Lemmy handed me two two pieces of notebook paper with the lyrics for 'I Want to Fuck You to Death'. I am beyond honored. To me, this is a love song. It is the most romantic song I've ever heard."
