After openly discussing her mental health issues and bout with cancer, Jill Janus and the Huntress crew will soon release third studio album "Static" - due out September 25 through Napalm Records.
The new single "Flesh" premieres today with a stunning lyric video, available below. Huntress vocalist Janus comments:
"'Flesh' is catchy and hard rock, it's lusty and bloody, a blackened-party metal make out song. When my bandmates brought me the killer composition, I wrote the lyrics as my storyline unfolded like bizarre film noir. A female serial killer who would transform into a demonic seamstress, preying upon women. She desires their flesh for fashion. Once again, I've collaborated with the immensely talented Vance Kelly to bring my story to life. Our telepathic artistic connection has created a twisted romantic lyric video for a summer of lust. Enjoy!"
The new Huntress record was produced by Paul Fig (Grammy nominated engineer, Alice in Chains, Deftones, Trivium, Ghost BC) and Jim Rota (Fireball Ministry, Emmy nominated Executive Producer of the Sonic Highways series, Producer Sound City Movie). Pre-orders are now available through PledgeMusic here. More...
The Swedish visual masterminds from Avatar have announced a new batch of U.S. tour dates starting this fall.
The dates will serve as the last time the band sees American soil while supporting the "Hail The Apocalypse" record. "We are heading towards the final curtain call of the apocalypse," says frontman Johannes Eckerström.
The band plans to begin work on a new album at the end of the year, with a release planned for 2016. Eckerström continues, "The hymns will be played one more time before we close this chapter and you need to be there. Destruction and decay is best viewed from a front row seat and as always, we intend to mix things up bring the freaky in ways we haven't before."
Support will come from Huntress, Gemini Syndrome, and First Decree. The new Huntress album "Static" will be released on September 25th, 2015 on Napalm Records. More...
Huntress is gearing up to release "Static" on September 25th via Napalm Records, and in a new interview with Revolver, vocalist Jill Janus reveals her lifelong struggle with Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and Dissociative Identity Disorder.
Earlier this year, she was also diagnosed with Stage 1 uterine cancer in the midst of recording the new album. Janus is now cancer-free due to a hysterectomy performed two weeks ago.
In an excerpt from the interview, she explains why she's been hospitalized this year: "Once a Huntress album is done, it's almost like I slip into a postpartum depression. Being bipolar and schizophrenic, I have to be hospitalized so I don't hurt myself or anyone else around me. It can be very dangerous."
She also explains sensing there was something wrong before being diagnosed with cancer: "During the process of writing and recording our third album, I began to feel like something bad was growing within me...I had a procedure, and my doctor found early stage cancer in my uterus."
Janus is now recovering from a successful surgery at home, commenting, "I was encouraged by my bandmates to take my struggle and weave it into songs on the new album. When I formed Huntress, I was concerned with the stigma surrounding mental illness, especially for women in the music industry. But I've accomplished so much in just a few years. Writing one record a year, touring relentlessly and attempting to maintain my sanity has been, at times, very painful for myself and those close to me. Yet I've proven anything is possible if you truly believe in yourself. Speaking out about my mental illness and cancer diagnosis has given me a chance to encourage others to live for their purpose and not be held back by their illness. The vultures can wait." More...

California metallers Huntress have completed their third studio album titled "Static" to be released via Napalm Records on September 25th. The highly-anticipated record was produced by Paul Fig (Grammy nominated engineer, Alice in Chains, Deftones, Trivium, Ghost BC) and Jim Rota (Fireball Ministry, Executive Producer Sonic Highways series, Producer Sound City Movie), Engineered and Mixed by Paul Fig.
Vance Kelly (Slayer, Alice In Chains, Evanescence, Ghost BC) has once again delivered stunning album artwork for Huntress (see below). The band's creative unity with Vance Kelly remains strong, having also created album covers for "Spell Eater" and "Starbound Beast."
Vocalist Jill Janus comments: "The evolution of Huntress bleeds into 'Static' our third and most prolific album. It is the heaviest and catchiest record we've written. The process of writing and recording was new and exciting, at times very difficult for all involved, having to record in between relentless touring. Never have I been so honest in my approach to songwriting; I reveal life-long personal obstacles that I previously feared weaving into my lyrics. I'm so pleased to reveal the cover art for 'Static' by my treasured art warlock Vance Kelly. Hail Heavy Metal!" More...

NextMosh.com has released a video interview with Huntress lead woman Jill Janus, which was recorded on October 25th, 2013 at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Check out the interview below, or you can also read the band's year-end message to fans at this location.
Huntress has locked down another year of victories as a newcomer metal band having released sophomore album "Starbound Beast" and touring non-stop. Vocalist Jill Janus comemnts:
"This has been an incredible year for the band, 2013 began with Huntress writing and recording our 2nd album Starbound Beast, which was produced by Zeuss. We've been touring virtually non-stop -- Sweden Rock Festival, Download Festival, The Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival, Heavy MTL, Danzig's 25th Anniversary Tour with Doyle, and ending a wild year as the opening act for Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage and Testament in North America. No rest for the wicked!
"Our video for 'Zenith' (directed by Phil Mucci) was filmed during our hectic tour schedule. It surpassed our expectations and truly captured the vision of our album. It's part of our legacy, and part of our path to rise above the glorification of mediocrity. Huntress is here for the long haul; our determination, vision and love of music will continue to be our driving force. Hail Heavy Metal!"
2014 will begin right where 2013 left off - seeing Huntress join forces again with Lamb of God, this time for a European/UK tour with Decapitated. The band will also play a string of headline shows, four of which have been announced so far with more to be added soon. See below for a complete list of all dates. More...
Huntress has checked in with the following statement about missing last night's tour date:
"We're alive! Huntress was unable to play the show last night in Saskatoon, Canada due to extremely dangerous road conditions. We really missed meeting our Sasky fans!
"We spun out, nearly being hit by a semi truck and jack-knifed our trailer. No one was hurt. I feel so blessed to have four bandmates who handled a very scary situation like warriors. After 36 hours in this van, we finally crossed the U.S. Border just now.
"I've never been happier to be back home in America. Thanks to Lamb of God for the prayers & love! We'll be back to melting faces tomorrow in St Paul, MN at Myth w/ LOG, Killswitch Engage & Testament!"

Huntress has kicked off yet another year of relentless touring, following the release of latest album "Starbound Beast." After a run on this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, Huntress also just wrapped up a tour with Glenn Danzig for his 25th Anniversary tour with Misfits guitarist Doyle.
Vocalist Jill Janus had this to say about her time on the road with Glenn Danzig: "Touring with Danzig has been surreal. As an angsty teenage girl, I used to dream that one day I would duet with Glenn Danzig. Being chosen to tour with him was already mind blowing, but I also had the honor of singing 'Skulls' with him in St. Paul, MN! I was watching the show from side stage. Doyle had just played a couple Misfits songs with the band. Then I see Glenn turn and ask if I'd like to join him for a duet! Performing with two of my idols was stellar. This has been a killer experience for Huntress, watching Glenn Danzig nightly from the wings, he has mastered his craft and we've learned a lot from him on this short run. He's also hilarious, his sense of humor and attitude have made our time with him so much more incredible! Hail Danzig!"
After a short break this September, Huntress will be back on the road with Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, and Testament. The tour kicks off October 22nd in Toronto, ON, and runs through November 26th in Silver Spring, MD. It has also been confirmed that Lamb of God will be taking Huntress to Europe and the UK in early 2014. A complete list of dates can be found below. More...
Huntress has kicked off yet another year of relentless touring, following the release of "Starbound Beast." The band had a run on this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, and is currently out on the road with Danzig for his 25th Anniversary tour with Misfits guitarist Doyle.
Today, Huntress is proud to present a video for the song "Zenith." The clip was directed by Phil Mucci. Watch the new video below, courtesy of Bloody Disgusting.
Director Phil Mucci spoke about working with Jill Janus: "Jill doesn't compromise; she wanted something her fans would cherish for years to come. In a disposable world, she's very conscious of her legacy, as am I. It's more than a music video to us. It's a gateway drug."
Jill cannot wait for the fans to see "Zenith," stating: "You better pack your bongs now 'cuz this is going to trip you the fuck out! Huntress is ecstatic about our new music video for 'Zenith'. Director Phil Mucci is a visionary who brought our galactic hallucinations to life. Huntress dedicates 'Zenith' to our fans who've inspired us on this path, and who continue to travel with us on our cosmic musical journey. Together we will smoke the galaxies and blaze a new future for true heavy metal!"
The band will also be hitting the road with heavy metal heavyweights Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, and Testament. The tour kicks off October 22nd in Toronto, ON, and runs through November 26th in Silver Spring, MD. More...
The night of August 8th was to mark the first appearance of Amon Amarth and Children of Bodom in Nashville, TN at Marathon Music Works. In what was to be a night packed with unfortunate surprises, the venue ended up being changed (and subsequently downsized) to a smaller venue known as the Exit/In, which sold out completely. Adding to that, it was announced shortly before the first set of the night that Children of Bodom would not play their set, due to the hospitalization of Bodom front man Alexi Laiho.
Some of the attendees decided to take a refund and leave after the announcement had been made, clearly Bodom loyalists. Most of the audience stayed for the duration of the show, as it was also announced that Battlecross, Huntress, and Amon Amarth would be playing longer sets to make up for the absence of the co-headliners. Those who stayed were at least treated to a blistering few sets, easily making up for the price of admission. Amon Amarth prepared an especially powerful set that turned the packed venue's air into a murky soup of hot sweat. More...
Long-time friends Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage have joined forces for a can't miss tour in the fall of 2013. The tour launches October 22nd in Toronto and canvases much of the U.S and Canada.
The two bands will combine for 28 North American shows in total. Support for all shows except Los Angeles will be provided by thrash legends Testament, with Huntress opening all shows.
Lamb of God will end the North American portion of the "Resolution" record cycle with this tour. It will include a coast to coast visit to all major Canadian cities which will be Lamb of God’s first visit to Canada on this cycle other than a festival play in June in Montebello and a show in Toronto in January 2012. Lamb of God will then finish the Resolution cycle completely with a visit to Europe and South Africa in January 2014. Details on that tour will be released late August. More...
