Avatar Releases New Music Video

Avatar has debuted a new music video for the track "The Eagle Has Landed." Directed by longtime collaborator Johan Carlén, this official music video comes from forthcoming LP "Feathers & Flesh."

Vocalist Johannes Eckerström explains: "During the past few months I've ended up saying 'this is our most ambitious work to date' quite a bit, but this one takes the cake. While still keeping it in the family we've created yet a new universe for everyone to get immersed in. A fable is a metaphor to explore the human condition and we've taken it one step further, zooming in on one song and what it has to say in and out of itself beyond the frames of the concept of 'Feathers & Flesh.'

"This is the story of five conmen traveling around the land, selling their snake oil to the easily persuaded people of the soil. Often when we want karma to bite someone's ass the most, they always seem to get away. It was fun to play the bad guy for once. I think the visuals and our treatment of the classic one take-concept speaks for itself. This is one of those you'll want to watch over and over again. I know I'm already doing just that. Enjoy!" Avatar Posts Live Wacken Video

Avatar will release first concept album "Feathers & Flesh" on Friday, May 13th, 2016 via Entertainment One (eOne) in North America and Canada and Another Century overseas. The new release will be the band's follow-up to "Hail The Apocalypse" released in 2014, which cracked the Billboard Top 200 for the first time in the band's career.

The album contains a story too extensive for any booklet, so Avatar made a book; a fully illustrated 60 page, 109 verse poem hardcover book. The physical album pre-order is up now right here.

Taking a break from releasing clips from the new album, today Avatar drops a live video shot at last year's Wacken Open Air festival. Check out "Smells Like A Freakshow" below. More...

Following streams of "The Eagle Has Landed" and "House Of The Eternal Hunt," Avatar has another new track online today.

Avatar Posts "The Eagle Has Landed"

Avatar has released the first official radio single off forthcoming LP "Feathers & Flesh." Check out "The Eagle Has Landed" below.

"You've heard Owl's hunting hymn. Now it's time for Eagle's mission statement," says lead vocalist Johannes Eckerström. "Just as he crashes into the world of his adversary, we will come crashing into your lives, screaming at the top of our lungs.

"We're still very early in the story and without giving away too much, I can say that things are about to change rapidly. The riff is a towel, the melody is water and y'all are about to get boarded. Have fun!"

Avatar Streaming New Tracks

Avatar has released the first two tracks off a forthcoming LP today. The songs "Regret" and "House of the Eternal Hunt" are being released in tandem and can be heard below.

"What you have is the beginning of the story and all the light and darkness of things to come!" says frontman Johannes Eckström. "We meet our protagonist, Owl as she lies dying, looking back on the night that would be her last. Regret is about, well regret! Staring into the cold eyes of Death, she wishes to change everything, to go back, to live again.

"This leads us to House of Eternal Hunt. It is how things used to be; how they were supposed to be. That is how the tale starts, with a predator ruling the sky on the night that would turn out to be her last! With this concept and these tracks, we want to give you the past, present and, more than anything else, the future of metal as we see it. It is the beginning of an epic journey and we're glad to have you along for the trip."

Sevendust, Lacuna Coil, and Avatar Melt Nashville

"So, I heard that Nashville is supposed to be some sort of country music capital of the world," says Avatar vocalist Johannes Eckerström in the middle of the band's set. Looking around the scene at Marathon Music Works on February 10th, you wouldn't have guessed it. The night before, Hatebreed brought Shadows Fall, Dying Fetus, and The Contortionist with them to play the same venue, but the metal mob was out again in full force to greet the Swedes for their first stop in town on their first tour of the US.

Although Marathon Music Works is not some gigantic stadium, it is anything but a small venue. Stretching about three blocks around the side of the building, waiting in the line of fans to get into the venue was no small test of endurance. Thankfully, two bars and a sound system that blares Megadeth, Van Halen, and Killswitch Engage await indoors to kickstart the weary. Nashville was about to get a multi-national blast of warm loudness to counter the falling temperature. More...

Swedish visual masterminds Avatar have unveiled their latest video for "Smells Like A Freakshow" today through Loudwire.com. Check out the video right here or in the player below. Frontman Johannes Eckerström adds his own words about the new video:

"The video illustrates inner conflict in an explicit manner, using abuse of unjust power in different contexts. The lyrical themes of downfall, embracing of decadence and failed attempts to escape are pointed out by the fact that ultimately the bad guys win."

The band kicks off a U.S. tour supporting Lacuna Coil and Sevendust with an intimate performance at The Studio at Webster Hall in New York City on Wednesday, January 30th. More...

Avatar Posts "Torn Apart" Video

Avatar, the band that brought you the gut wrenching side show video for "Black Waltz" has premiered another clip for the new single "Torn Apart" today via Fearnet.com. Check out the video here or in the player below.

Lead singer Johannes Eckerström commented: "If all violence was as in professional wrestling, I would get involved in way more fights. Hulk Hogan was one of my first heroes and made me want to spend my life doing insane things and be applauded for it. Backyard wrestling is not exactly a household expression here in Sweden, but on my street we went insane. I could pull off an awesome suplex by the age of nine.

"Standing on that tiny stage while our audience threw each other through tables was a rush and pretty much the best form of mosh pit I've ever experienced. They made it look awesome and the context we put it in made it truly epic. We're not really supposed to afford making a music video this cool, but once again we've proven what's possible when you realize your potential and make the most you possibly can of it. When life gives you lemonade, punch life in the face." More...
