In the three years since Megaton Leviathan released 2014’s “Past 21” album, Andrew James Costa Reuscher and Mort Subite have been diligently creating new material to meet and exceed Megaton’s reputation of fusing disparate elements into new, borderline narcotic compositions.
To help facilitate this goal, several new members have been drafted in both studio and live capacities, including ex-Lord Dying drummer Jonathan Reid, vocalist and concert violinist Andrea Morgan, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Travis Hathaway, and bassist Trejen.
This new, diversely talented cast has already inspired unexpected creative reward in the studio, and will no doubt entrance live audiences worldwide as Megaton Leviathan takes to the road once again supporting a presently incubating goliath later this year. More...

Megaton Leviathan is preparing to release "Past 21: Beyond The Arctic Cell" on September 9th, 2014 via Seventh Rule Recordings.
The record was mixed by Megaton's newest resident thaumaturgist, Mort Subite (V.I.I.R.L., Alfheimr, Benighted In Sodom live), and is a near lethal dose of solemn audio narcotic, shifting the listener somewhere outside the realm of space-time for the duration of its dissociative transduction from speakers to brain.
By the end of 2012, despite the official announcement of a new album, the fate of Megaton Leviathan was positioned beneath a very precariously dangled sword.
Circumstance and internal conflict nearly saw the band's next major release a specter with no corporeal form. However, after a redoubling of effort, a reshuffling of the deck and some inevitable missteps along the way, Megaton Leviathan's second full length album, "Past 21: Beyond The Arctic Cell," has emerged from the chaos of its birth pains.
The album was mixed by Mort Subite (V.I.I.R.L., Alfheimr, Benighted in Sodom live) and will be released via Seventh Rule Recordings on September 9th, 2014. The track listing is as follows:
1. Past 21
2. The Foolish Man

Seventh Rule Records has checked in with the following announcement about upcoming 2013 releases from Batillus, Atriarch, and more:
"Well hello, 2013. The primary plan is now in effect and it will be another amazing year for Seventh Rule!
"We are starting quickly with our first two releases dropping in Feb being a vinyl reissue of Thergothon's funeral doom classic 'Stream From the Heavens' and the debut album from Portland's Eight Bells.
"March will bring us a new crushing release from Batillus, April brings us the psychedelic noise trance from Megaton Leviathan and May will bring a new sonic masterpiece from Author & Punisher. We will also be handling the vinyl version of Atriach's 'Ritual Of Passing' which will hit the shelves in the early part of the year.
"There are some surprises still to come for the last 1/2 of the year including reissues of out of print Srule vinyl in the form of Coffinworm and Indian gems! Thanks as always for your support and make sure your ears are ready for the sonic attack."
Portland Oregon's down-tempo, psychedelic act Megaton Leviathan has checked in with the following statement about progress on a new record and parting ways with a band member:
"Dear friends of Megaton Leviathan,
"I’m putting out a direct statement to those of you who are closest to the band. Over the last month Megaton Leviathan attempted to record our 2nd full-length album. After much set backs, schedule changes, conflicts, and the lack of communication the recent attempt at a collaborative effort between Chris and I had dissolved, is the best way I can put it. The end result is that Chris Beug is no longer a member of Megaton Leviathan.
"It boils down to this; I am completely unwilling to rush and compromise the creative process or output of this project. Megaton Leviathan is the result of years of hard work, and my desire to mix all of the things I love into one art project. I am very grateful for all the experiences I have had over the years, good bad and indifferent. For they have shaped what this project has become.
"It will not go without saying Chris was instrumental in getting Megaton Leviathan out of the studio and on the road, is responsible for a lot of its image and made many sacrifices along the way just as I have. For the record it has been a emotional week.
"Megaton Leviathan is still very much alive. I have recently joined forces with 7th Rule records here in Portland, and he has been very supportive through this. With his help and the support of my friends this album will get done, and see the light of day sometime in 2013. It wont be the album I thought it was going to be, but it’s going to be the album it’s meant to be. That’s psychedelic isn’t it?"
Portland, Oregon doom-gazers Megaton Leviathan, who completed a successful run of tour dates with cerebral black metal behemoths Wolves In The Throne Room this summer, are set to begin work on their as-yet-untitled new full-length. The record, which includes a “smacked-out version of Judas Priest’s ‘Here Come The Tears,’” according to the band, will be unleashed during the latter half of 2012.
Further comments vocalist/guitarist Andrew Costa on the direction of the new material: “The new tunes are dark but still retain the trademark Megaton Leviathan hooks and dreamy atmosphere fans have come to expect from us. It’s a transmutation of a lot of my personal experiences in Alaska as well as our recent trials and tribulations as a young band. It will be delivered in a way most everyone can identify with.”
The band is also working on a split release with L.A. noise band Actuary, with further details to be unveiled soon. In addition, the eclectic ensemble will kick off the new year with a short string of West Coast headlining dates. Shows are as follows:

Portland, Oregon doom-gazers Megaton Leviathan recently wrapped up a tour with black metal goliaths Wolves In The Throne Room. The band joined Wolves midway through the Celestial Lineage Tour and sullied 11 unsuspecting cities. Check out fan-filmed footage from the band’s Nashville performance below. Megaton Leviathan also recently reissued the band's 2009 demo on limited-edition vinyl through its own Volatile Rock Records.
Commented vocalist/guitarist Andrew Costa: “Upon returning home our only complaint is that it was too short a trip. It was a singular experience to share the stage with Wolves In The Throne Room, shaping our shared vision in the often tiny, overcrowded and sweaty spaces. We send our deepest thanks and appreciation to all those who came out and sweated with us all over the Southeast and South. Back on the Pacific Northwest, the cool fall mornings have set in and the rain returned. We are already hard at work on writing some new material that reflects out recent experiences and explorations and plotting our next return to the road, be on the lookout.”
Brooklyn Vegan is currently streaming Megaton Leviathan’s “Guns & LSD” for all the world to hear. The track comes off the Portland, Oregon doom-gazers’s recently reissued 2009 demo, unleashed on limited-edition vinyl through Volatile Rock Records.
