Additionally, Dead In The Dirt has locked down two international tours, subsequent to the new rash of U.S. shows, bringing the impending itinerary to a confirmed total of fifty four cities in front of the firing squad.
Just two weeks after the American tour, the band will ship out for a month-long routing across all of Europe into the second week of November. Dates are as follows: More...
"The Blind Hole," the debut full-length studio effort from Atlanta’s straightedge/vegan grindcore activists Dead In The Dirt, is now streaming in its entirety courtesy of Invisible Oranges/BrooklynVegan, as the record sees official release this week via Southern Lord. Find yourself sucked mercilessly into "The Blind Hole" through the player below.
"The Blind Hole" kills off twenty-two tracks in less than twenty-four minutes, recorded at Bricktop Recording Studio with Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos) in Chicago this April, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Nails, All Pigs Must Die, Baptists, Sleep).
Dead in the Dirt is currently touring in support of the album on the way to take part in the fourth annual The Power Of The Riff in L.A. this weekend. Date are available after the jump. More...
The fourth annual installment of the The Power Of The Riff festival in Los Angeles is now just a week away, the event including a pre-party on Friday, August 9th at The Echo and two-stage, full-day lineup Saturday, August 10th, at both The Echo and Echoplex.
Amidst the massive roster of crushing newcomer acts and classic heavyweights set to execute sets over the two-day fest, one of the main headlining performances of the weekend will be the original lineup of LA crossover act Final Conflict - founder Jeff Harp, vocalist Ron Martinez and bassist Warren Renfrow (Manic Hispanic, Cadillac Tramps) - for the first time in 24 years.
In the 1980s, Final Conflict was part of the first wave of punk bands to be labeled "crossover," with a sonic mix of Discharge meeting Black Sabbath coupled with political lyrics the appropriate soundtrack to inspire a troublemaker to slam, headbang, or throw a brick at a cop... and sometimes all three.
The band will perform 1987's "Ashes To Ashes" LP in sequence as well as early demo material. Although older, the band has no intentions of “phoning it in” - expect a brutal and energetic set.
Additional headlining acts The Obsessed, M.D.C., From Ashes Rise, Black Breath, Iceburn, and others join more than twenty additional bands including Early Graves, Mammoth Grinder, Bastard Noise, Dead in the Dirt, and tons more taking part in the melee. The lineup is:
Friday, August 9th @ The Echo // pre-party:
Black Breath, Early Graves, Obliterations, Nomads, Creative Adult
Saturday, August 10th @ The Echo & Echoplex
The Obsessed, Final Conflict, From Ashes Rise, M.D.C., Iceburn, Iron Lung, Mammoth Grinder, Bastard Noise, Condition, Dead In The Dirt, Baptists, Replica, Completed Exposition, Centuries, Wartorn, Territory, Whip Hand, Children Of God, Old Wounds, Opposition Rising
As Dead in the Dirt's scathing debut LP, "The Blind Hole," nears release in less than a week via Southern Lord, today the band discharges one of the album's most abrasive and violently discordant tracks.
Stream "No Chain" in the player below courtesy of Metalhammer.co.uk. The following press release was also issued about the new album:
"The Blind Hole surges with DITD’s downtuned, caustic riffs and pummeling blastbeats, and delivers their most morose and tonally oppressive material yet through twenty-two tracks in under twenty-four minutes. Though fueled by crushing distortion, the album boasts incredibly clear production values, recorded at Bricktop Recording Studio with Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos) in Chicago this April, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Nails, All Pigs Must Die, Baptists, Sleep). The cover was illustrated by Bo Orr as with the band’s Fear EP. Listen to the track "No Chain" via Metal Hammer for further proof that the band can and will crush everything in their path with their devastatingly heavy crust attack." More...
As Atlanta’s murderous grind/powerviolence trio Dead in the Dirt prepares to release a debut LP, the aptly grim title "The Blind Hole," today a new track from the album has been released via an exclusive premiere at Pitchfork.
While the vast majority of the band’s tracks released to date via previous EPs range from a blazing thirty seconds or less to just over a minute in duration, “The Pit Of Me” drags out the band’s succinctly pulverizing attack to its most extended length yet, the track clocking in with over two minutes of extreme auditory anguish. Be fully consumed in the bleak “The Pit Of Me” at Pitchfork here.
Dead In The Dirt has confirmed a next wave of touring as the debut LP nears release, with a trek through the southern and western regions of America to consume the first three weeks of August, to be followed by a full-on European tour to be announced shortly. More...

The members of Atlanta-based grindcore trio Dead in the Dirt have completed the writing process for their pending debut LP, and are preparing to set up camp to harness their latest blast-laden auditory dissent in the coming days. The following press release was issued about the pending recording:
"Dead in the Dirt will travel seven hundred miles north, set to record with Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos) at Bricktop Recording Studio in Chicago the second week of April, armed with a barrage of new songs which will be delivered later in the year as their first full-length release, The Blind Hole.
"Following their initial 2010-released Vold EP, DITD caught the attention of Southern Lord Recordings, who hooked up with the band immediately for the release of their Fear 7”, which bore some of the heaviest music of the year, taking morose lessons from His Hero Is Gone and Cursed to horrifically relentless levels of blasting intensity. The label will continue the tradition, and The Blind Hole will see release through Southern Lord later in the year.
"A band who continually takes their societal and politically-based contempt out on the road, Dead in the Dirt have taken part in multiple Southern Lord and The Power Of The Riff events and tours over the past two years, including both East Coast and West Coast US tours as direct support for SUNN O))) in 2012. With much more still in the works for the coming months, a live assault throughout the Midwest and parts of the Southeast US has already been confirmed for the majority of the month of May. The band will also take on Europe for a full month this October and November." More...
