Laika Reveals New Album Details

Winnipe's melodic death metal band Laika is proud to reveal to fans the artwork and track listing for new full length album "Somnia," which is due out September 30th, 2014 via Filth Regime Records.

Vocalist Jordan Dorge comments: "Here we are around the corner of Laika's five year anniversary! What better way to celebrate than to deliver you an album we have been working on for the past 2 years. For this album we went above and beyond to bring the listener the best Laika we could. Enjoy Somnia."

Founded in 2009 as a six-piece and named after the Soviet dog who became one of the first animals to travel to space, the band unleashed a self-released album in 2010, then hit the road, sharing the stage with the likes of All Shall Perish, Kataklysm, Necronomicon and Unleash the Archers, before temporarily backing away from the spotlight.

Driven by a thirst for evolution, Laika spent two years constructing and writing upcoming full-length "Somnia," filling it with melodic hooks, ominous keys, and lyrics that are bound to get stuck in listeners’ heads to an almost maddening degree. The track listing is as follows:

1. Restless Mind (1:31)
2. Escalation of Terror (4:26)
3. Somnia (5:26)
4. Fidelity (3:48)
5. Caligae A Galea (5:29)
6. Dream of Nothing (5:35)
7. The Immortal (3:52)

Laika Comments On Recent Tour

Canadian melodic death metallers Laika have issued a statement regarding last month's ill-fated Laikaruptour 2012 with tech deathers Abhorupt, which saw the band stranded outside Vancouver, BC for several days due to vehicle issues. Vocalist Jordan Dorge comments:

"We are back safe and sound from tour, it was a rocky one but we kept our spirits up. First we would like to thank all the promoters, bands and fans for making this tour possible. We unfortunately only got to complete 3 of the 8 shows we had booked out west. Our van broke down 3 hours outside of Vancouver. We were super crushed as we were looking forward to hitting Vancouver again and the rest of the dates.

We got it towed to a nearby town and they helped us get to Kamloops where we waited for the van to get fixed up. Other than the blown transmission we had a successful tour, showed fans a little taste of new material and got our new guitarist worked into the tour life. We are already making plans as your reading this to make up for the lost dates, so stay tuned. See the tour video below to witness the journey we had!"

Check out that Laikaruptour 2012 video below. Back at home, Laika is preparing to hit the studio with engineer Ryan Forsyth to record the long overdue follow up to 2010's "Crafting the Cataclysm." To help fund the album, entitled "Somnia," Laika has launched an IndieGoGo campaign, which you can go to at this location.
