Kill Devil Hill Releases New Music Video

Kill Devil Hill has partnered with Revolver Magazine for the world premiere of "Leave It All Behind," the first music video from the band's sophomore studio release "Revolution Rise." The video can be seen below now.

"We're all fired up and ready to kick this year off right!" says bassist Rex Brown, whose autobiography "Official Truth - 101 Proof: The Official Story Of Pantera" will be released in paperback on March 24th, with North American Kill Devil Hill tour dates to follow. "'Leave It All Behind' was shot with a very different approach for us. It's a story board video that intertwines the band with a guy that has faced some apocalyptic demons in his own mind. We shot the video at an old missile site in Southern California that had been burned out by fires years ago. The story hits very close to home with the lyrical content of the song, which makes it even more surreal and sublime - we'll leave the rest up to your interpretation!"

Featuring Pantera and former Down bassist Rex Brown, former Dio, Black Sabbath, and Heaven and Hell drummer Vinny Appice, ex-Pissing Razor singer Dewey Bragg and acclaimed session/touring guitarist Mark Zavon, "Revolution Rise" was produced by Kill Devil Hill and Jeff Pilson, and mixed by Jay Ruston. Best Newcomers Of 2012 Explored: Part 4

There's a slew of new heavy metal bands popping up across the globe covering just about every imaginable sound, and plenty more appearing on the horizon. Thanks to easy access to digital tools and online methods of music distribution, the metal scene as a whole has an exploding population, and every year we try to keep up with the best new talent in our year-end “best of” awards.

To help get you acquainted with the best new metal out there, we’ll be briefly covering the bands nominated by our contributors for the “Best Newcomer” category of Metalunderground.com’s recent 2012 awards.

Writer Rex_84 nominated the following acts for best newcomer of 2012: Pallbearer, Pilgrim, Skrog, Dopelord, and Kill Devil Hill. You can also find yesterday's coverage of nominees at this location.

Pallbearer

Doom metal was the preferred sound of great upstarts in the year 2012. No band was as impactful as Pallbearer. “Sorrow and Extinction,” the debut album by these Arkansas lads, found the top of many journalists’ “best of” list. The slow melodies of Candlemass, the groove of Saint Vitus and distant, Ozzy-like vocals describes the band in familiar terms. The group deals equal amounts of despair and psychedelics. It’s one hell of a bad acid trip, brain fuck!

Kill Devil Hill Rules the Mob in San Antonio

Adrenaline Mob and Kill Devil Hill personified the song “Deep in the Heart of Texas” during their San Antonio performance. The stars were big and bright; the members comprising the night’s co-headlined acts are better known for playing with iconic artists such as Pantera, Down, Heaven And Hell, Dio, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Dream Theater, W.A.S.P, Pissing Razors and Symphony X.

This weekday show hosted by Backstage Live yielded a fraction of the ticket sales compared to the groups’ associated acts. Although both bands featured veterans in the field of heavy metal and progressive rock, they are both new artists. Kill Devil Hill doesn’t release its debut, self-titled CD until the 22nd of this month. New bands usually tour in support slots, but names such as Mike Portnoy, Rex Brown and Vinny Appice aren’t accustomed to that role. Those hip to the groups, mostly Dream Theater fans, expected a night of mind-blowing musicianship, which is what they got with a few added surprises. More...

"It's not easy to say what catches the listener's attention first on Kill Devil Hill, the debut album by the newly formed band of the same name: the strong guitar hooks, the killer grooves, the dynamic production or the potent vocal melodies. Rex Brown, bassist of this super group and erstwhile member of Pantera and Down sees Kill Devil Hill in its entirety as an extremely exciting new band 'To me, this band is a musical adventure trip,' he reckons. Brown knows what he's talking about, after all he was involved in some of the most important rock and metal recordings of the past 30 years. So if Brown can hardly contain his enthusiasm, there must be something special to the Kill Devil Hill phenomenon." More...
