As they make their way to the prestigious Maryland Deathfest this weekend, the New York-based filthy black metallers in Multilation Rites have unveiled "Suffer The Children," their first new music in two years.
Taken from forthcoming album "Harbinger," the follow-up to the band's Prosthetic debut "Empyrean," this new track "Suffer The Children" can now be streamed over at Pitchfork.com here.
The band commented, "We picked 'Suffer the Children' because we thought it covered all the bases. It hopefully tries to branch out on all our influences on this new record, which falls somewhere between Incantation and Aura Noir. We wanted to touch on what is important to us – riffs! The focus should be pure riffage and nothing else, no pretentious nonsense."
Although "Harbinger" will not be released until the summer, "Suffer The Children" is now available as a limited-edition 7" single featuring two B-sides – covers of "Police Bastard" by Doom and "Protest and Survive" by Discharge.

The fresh additions to the brutal three-day event include Alleageon, Alpha & Omega, Born Low, MurderDeathKill and Dark Sermon, as well as Baltimore hardcore squad Trapped Under Ice and New Jersey’s renowned explosive tech metal practitioners The Dillinger Escape Plan.
A tour based around the fest has also been created by MassConcerts, something they’ve done for the past four years. Dubbed Mission Quest to Metal Fest, the trek was formed in order to help a few of the bands get to and from NEMHF this year. This year the tour unifies Expire, Alpha & Omega, Power Trip, Twitching Tongues, and Antagonist A.D. on a ten-date assault leading up to their individual performances at the festival.
Stated promoter Scott Lee on the formation of this built-in tour: “We are really proud of this year’s lineup, and to bring these bands together leading up to it. The tour includes Expire who played last year, California powerhouse Alpha & Omega, Power Trip who is an up-and-coming hardcore band from Texas, and Twitching Tongues. We're also very excited to have Antagonist A.D. from New Zealand; they are the band coming from the farthest away for the fest. Pretty happy to have them; we love putting foreign bands on the bill!” More...

South By Southwest 2012 maintained its tradition of billing a long list of heavy bands from an assortment of styles. Attendees began pouring in from every corner of the globe on the previous Friday to experience the interactive and film portion of the city-wide festival. Traditionally, at least during the last few years, the music segment starts five days later on Wednesday. Even though I attended a free show at Emo’s East featuring High on Fire, our coverage begins with Wednesday’s usual sonic circus.
Torn between the Thrasher/Converse Death Match Day Party at Scoot Inn and Pitchfork’s Show No Mercy show at ND, I opted for the Pitchfork show. The Thrasher show included legendary hardcore punk acts Fear and Cro-Mags as well as Nachtmystium, but I chose the doomed tones of Rwake, Pallbearer and Pilgrim at the Pitchfork.com show. More...
