Adrenaline Mob To Record New Album

Adrenaline Mob has checked in with the following statement about parting ways with Mike Portnoy, opening for Avenged Sevenfold, and working on a new album:

"Adrenaline Mob is proud to announce that we've been added as the opening act for Avenged Sevenfold at the LaCrosse Center Arena on July 16th in LaCrosse,Wisconsin! Also on the bill is Fight or Flight featuring Dan Donegan, Mike Wengren of Disturbed fame. We would like to thank everyone in the A7X Camp for this incredible opportunity & we're extremely excited to perform alongside these awesome bands!!

"After coming off an amazing run in South America w/Halestorm, we have unfortunately parted ways with drummer Mike Portnoy due to scheduling conflicts as you all know. We had an incredible run with Mike & made 2 great albums together as well as many great shows & tours since we've launched Adrenaline Mob.

"It was a pleasure to share the stage with such a great talent but as a band we need to be able to move forward & work as hard as we can to take Adrenaline Mob to the next level. We wish Mike all the best in everything he does!

"As far as filling the drum position... we will not be announcing a permanent replacement just yet. We are currently seeking out the right person to fill the spot at this time & will use a fill in for the A7X Show on July 16th.

"We'd also like to announce that Mike Orlando & Russell Allen have been hard at work writing the next Adrenaline Mob album & will enter the studio late summer, early fall to begin tracking the new release! Russell, Mike & John would like to send out a huge special thanx to all the amazing Adrenaline Mob fans worldwide for their incredible support at this time! We're extremely excited to unveil the next phase of Adrenaline Mob real soon!!"

Adrenaline Mob Splitting With Mike Portnoy

Adrenaline Mob, which released the all-covers "Coverta" EP earlier this year (reviewed here), is now parting ways with Mike Portnoy (ex-Dream Theater). Portnoy comments:

"It saddens me to announce that the 4 upcoming shows in Latin America this month supporting Halestorm will be my last with Adrenaline Mob.

"Unfortunately, I have scheduling conflicts that prevent me from being able to fully commit to the band's future activities at the moment.

"As I cannot be in two places at the same time, I don't want to hold them back and have to wait for my schedule to re-open up to resume activity.

"I'm very proud of what we started together and the music we made over the past two years and I wish the guys all the best in the future."

Adrenaline Mob guitarist Mike Orlando states, “Recording 'Romeo Delight' was an absolute blast for me. I grew up listening to EVH, and from the moment I heard 'Eruption,' I was hooked for life! Tracking the guitars was such a blast, as I plugged in my white-and-black Charvel, my trusty ol' MXR Phase 90 and went right into my cranked-up Marshall JCM800, entering that EVH zone and giving my all to pay tribute to one of the greatest rock guitarists ever! We had a great time with Mike Portnoy's idea to insert a medley of kick-ass VH parts in the mid-section while going into a great treat before we head back to the final chorus!”

Kill Devil Hill Rules the Mob in San Antonio

Adrenaline Mob and Kill Devil Hill personified the song “Deep in the Heart of Texas” during their San Antonio performance. The stars were big and bright; the members comprising the night’s co-headlined acts are better known for playing with iconic artists such as Pantera, Down, Heaven And Hell, Dio, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Dream Theater, W.A.S.P, Pissing Razors and Symphony X.

This weekday show hosted by Backstage Live yielded a fraction of the ticket sales compared to the groups’ associated acts. Although both bands featured veterans in the field of heavy metal and progressive rock, they are both new artists. Kill Devil Hill doesn’t release its debut, self-titled CD until the 22nd of this month. New bands usually tour in support slots, but names such as Mike Portnoy, Rex Brown and Vinny Appice aren’t accustomed to that role. Those hip to the groups, mostly Dream Theater fans, expected a night of mind-blowing musicianship, which is what they got with a few added surprises. More...

Fozzy Bassist Leaves The Band

Sean Delson, the bass player for American heavy metal band Fozzy, has announced that he has decided to "retire" from the band in order to pursue other musical interests. A statement from Delson reads as follows:

"Hello good people!

"After nearly a decade of playing in Fozzy and enjoying the most fun you can pretty much legally have, I have decided to step down as the Bass Player for Fozzy and let some other lucky soul come in and live out their dreams. Playing in Fozzy has allowed me to achieve nearly 99% of all my musical aspirations. For that, I shall forever be eternally grateful to the band, and the team behind it. We have all played together in different bands throughout the years, and I have no doubt that somewhere down the road, at some point, we will share the stage again. A personal and heartfelt thanks goes out to Rich Ward, for always calling on me to play in every project that ever came his way, and for always believing in me. Thank you Rich.

"In the years prior to my work with Fozzy, The Duke, and Stuck Mojo, most of you know that I was in a band called Agent Cooper. It was actually playing with Agent Cooper that led me to joining Fozzy. Rich came out to a showcase we were playing, and, after the gig, asked me if I would help him record his debut solo album. For you trivia heads out there, Frank Fontsere was playing drums that night with us (and is also a long time member of the Agent Cooper Alumni). After many records, tours, and just plain living the dream… I started feeling a calling to finish something that I had started many years ago. So, along with Mike Martin, Eric Frampton (you know these guys from Stuck Mojo, The Duke, and Fozzy), Doug Busbee, and our new drummer Ganesh Giri Jaya… I hope to see you all on upcoming tours in a town near you!
