Ohio symphonic death metal unit/recent Unique Leader signee The Convalescence will release the new album "This Is Hell" on September 1st.

The ten-track offering was produced by John Burke (Forever In Terror, Captain Kid, etc.) at Vibe Studios, which was mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy, Despised Icon, Beyond Creation, etc.) at The Grid and comes wrapped in the macabre cover art of Coki Greenway.

We believe this is by far our best work and the strongest lineup of musicians we have ever had. This album has a lot more of a death metal feel to it than Poison Words and The Process but it's still got The Convalescence sound with symphonic melodies from Katie [McCrimmon] on keys and plenty of slamming breakdowns."

Preorders for "This Is Hell" will be available in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out the title track streaming in the player below.

The track listing is:

1. Scum
2. No Way Out
3. I Won't Survive
4. Murder Machine
5. Burn
6. There Will Be Blood
7. Alone
8. This Is Hell
9. With No Hope

The Convalescence Kicked Off Otep Tour

Yet another band has run afoul of performing live with Otep on the road.

After that ugliness during the "Civil Unrest" tour a few years back and a handful of instances in the interim, The Convalescence has now been kicked off the "Resistance" tour by Otep.

The Convalescence issued this statement about the situation:

"We will no longer be a part of the remaining dates of 'The Resistance Tour' with Otep. After years spent on the road touring worldwide and never having a problem, this is a first. Otep kicked us off the tour after already loading in for tonight’s event in Pittsburgh. This stemming from an alleged incident that occurred in Michigan two nights previously where claims were made that we sold merchandise during the intro of their set.

"This was not the first time being threatened to remove us from the tour. First happening in Jacksonville, FL after their driver accused us of buying weed from venue staff the night before and went as far as to say we forced a venue runner to drive with him and a kid in the car to pick it up. This was in an attempt to take the heat off the driver himself because he called the police on the band's guitarist after an argument between them that morning.

"In both instances, we were unable to explain or make any attempt to approach the situation since even after 50+ dates as direct support - unless she felt the need to threaten to kick us off the tour and belittle us, we weren’t even allowed in the same room.

"After being told we were not needed on the tour, that we were not helping the attendance, we were simply a time filler and countless other negative comments about us being part of this tour we came to a mutual decision that we could no longer share a stage together.

"We are all about being team players on the road. After going out of our way with things like covering her merch table every night during their set, helping the band with security at understaffed venues, and helping her band and crew load in and out daily. We were met with only disrespect from Otep herself.

"We have no hard feelings towards her hired band and crew but Otep is an absolute nightmare to work with. Again, we apologize to any of our fans that had planned to see us on this tour. Thanks for your continued support and we’ll see you on the road this Fall!" More...

The Convalescence Breaks Down In California

The Convalescence broke down on the road yesterday and is now seeking fan support to raise funds for repairing the van and getting back on with the new tour date. If you'd like to contribute, you can do so at GoFundMe.com here. The band comments:

"The Convalescence has been on tour for 101 days straight as of now touring non stop all over the country. We have no financial backing or support of any kind from sponsors or labels. On July 26th making the drive from San Bernardino, CA to Reno, NV our tour bus started acting up. After pulling over to the side of the road, we found out that the plug for our oil pan was missing and there was no oil in the bus.

"We called road side assistance for help, they brought us some oil and a new plug to get us back on the road. 45 minutes and $200.00 later, we heard some strange sounds and the entire bus filled with exhaust smoke. We pulled over thinking the bus was on fire, the Stockon, CA fire department and California state highway patrol arrived on the scene and tried to help as much as they could. While stopped we also noticed about a 6 foot piece of our exhaust that had fallen off of the bus.

"We were able to get the bus to a nearby truck stop to be repaired tomorrow morning, but we will be missing our show in Reno, NV. We are pretty close to flat broke, and had enough to get a hotel room near the truck stop. We are having issues funding the repairs on the bus, affording hotel stay, food for the band and crew, as gas to get to our next show in Seattle, WA. We are asking for your help with this situation. Any donation to help get our band back on the road would be appreciated more than you know!" More...

The Convalescence Cancels Upcoming Shows

The Convalescence has checked in with the following announcement about canceling upcoming tour dates:

"The Convalescence cancelled the North East leg of the current tour due to Hurricane Sandy; we are working diligently on re-booking the affected show cancellations for February/March 2013. In addition, prior to the affected dates, a band member misappropriated the use of funds to purchase a tour vehicle that could not be utilized for tour and as a result, resigned from the band without notice.

"The first show of the remaining tour dates was to be at The Limits in Nashville, TN, November 8th; however, the venue closed its doors last week. With the current tour dates approaching this week and five ‘off’ dates; the cost effectiveness directly related to travel expenditures regarding the remaining shows this weekend; we have cancelled the following dates to be rescheduled at a future date and time:

09 NOV 12 – The Soundstage – Conway, AR
10 NOV 12 – Hippy’s Nightlife – Texarkana, AR
11 NOV 12 – O’Reilly’s Pub – Dallas, TX

"Thank you for your patience relating to matters directly out of our control. We will be finishing off the remaining tour dates at this time, however, if any further unforeseen events occur; we will make an immediate release relating to any routing changes."
