Reflections Posts "Shadow Self" Lyric Clip

Reflections has debuted an all-new lyric video for the single "Shadow Self," which can be seen in the player below.

"This album goes through stages. It's a story and every song is a chapter in its own way," says vocalist Jake Wolf. "This track comes from a very dark place. It is about how I let the people I once held close change me and drive me into a place mentally where I developed a second personality. For years, I could not look myself in the mirror. I hated who I was. I had no idea what I believed in, what or who I cared about and I especially had no clue who cared about me.

"It wasn't until the process of writing and making 'The Color Clear' that I was able to find myself again. A person that disappeared through years of physical, mental and emotional abuse, drug and alcohol addiction, more traumatizing events than I care to remember, and years of self harm.

"It's truly a sad and difficult feeling to look back at literally your entire life and resenting everything. But now, when I see myself, I no longer see the product of all of the things I wish I could forget. I see my core, I see what is left of me throughout all of these years of trying to erase every memory from my childhood and teenage years. Unfortunately, I've realized you can't forget the things that make you who you are. It's almost like the person I was follows me every step I take. Just like a shadow."

Reflections will release new album "The Color Clear" on Friday, September 18, 2015 via eOne / Good Fight Music. More...

Reflections Posts "Actias Luna" Video

Reflections has debuted an all-new music video today for the single titled "Actias Luna," which can be seen below or over at Substreammagazine.com here.

"We chose this track because we feel that it shows our true sound and direction," says vocalist Jake Wolf. Directed by Max Moore, this is the first piece of music we're hearing from the band off a recently completed LP.

Wolf continues, "It's a sound that was found while writing 'The Fantasy Effect; and lost in the midst of writing and recording our album 'Exi(s)t.' For those who were expecting something a bit different sounding from us, rest easy knowing that our new album goes through stages. There really is something for everyone. For those of you that have been keeping up with us until now, thank you for being patient."

Reflections Recording New Album

Twin Cities, Minnesota based metal act Reflections will enter The Machine Shop this week with producer Will Putney to begin work on a sophomore release for Good Fight Music / eOne Music. The yet-to-be-titled effort will be released in summer 2015.

“When we heard we had the opportunity to work with Will we were all about it,” says frontman Jake Foster. “We're huge fans of all The Machine Shop's work. For the first time, we've written an album where listening to it all the way through will tell you a story. After an eye opening year of touring while trying to maintain life at home, I feel that we have truly written our best music yet.”

Walt Disney said, "You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you." That sentiment sums of the past eighteen months for the band in more ways than one. In March of last year Foster's home was destroyed in a fire which led to the death of his close friend and roommate. With the news coming at a time where the band was dealing with its own obstacles, it was a devastating blow for everyone. Foster continues, “the last year of my life personally has been a very challenging time for me to say the least. The lyrical content on this album is more focused than anything I've ever written before. I really hope that it will connect with people the way that I'm hoping it will.”

The all new LP will be the follow up to "Exi(s)t," released by the band in 2013. That release debuted on the Billboard charts for the first time in the band’s history, most notably cracking the top 10 on the Heatseekers chart at #6. "The music that we have been working on is much more thought out and organized. We focused more on song structure and finding a balance of style that will separate us from everyone else." More...

Metalunderground.com Official Podcast, Episode 27

We may be the Metalunderground.com Official Podcast - the operative word being “metal” - but that doesn't mean we’re above shamelessly promoting some “FedoraCore” when it suits our interests.

That’s right, boys and girls: this week we’re launching another ticket giveaway for Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, FL. In addition to The Black Dahlia Murder, Suicide Silence and friends on Monday, October 13th, we invite you to check out Attila, Crown The Empire, and Like Moths To Flames on Friday, November 14th.

If interested, submit an email to podcast@metalunderground.com with one (or both) of the headlining bands in the subject heading, and your full name matching your ID in the email body. Listen in with bated breath as co-host Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) fills in the rest of the details.

Next, co-host Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) offers a gushing sneak-peek reaction to one of the year’s most anticipated metal albums: “The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity)” by Swedish death-prog powerhouse Scar Symmetry. He’s convinced it will monopolize many a year-end favorites list, and urges fans (Kevin included) who may have lost interest after the loss of former superhuman vocalist Christian Alvestam to reconsider. The latter incarnation of Scar Symmetry has truly come into its own. The first of a planned concept trilogy, “Neohumanity” drops in North America on Tuesday, October 14th.

Finally, in another round of his “Miami Metalhead Problems” saga, Kevin relates an epic personal concert misadventure involving the bands Erra and Reflections. We’ve all had them, we’ve all struggled and bled to make it to see our favorite bands, and every now and then, something unique and memorable occurs along the way that we wouldn’t have traded for all the well-timed, well-organized shows in the world.

Tune in here to check out Kevin’s story, Mike’s review, and more, and don’t forget to subscribe via iTunes and/or RSS feed. Enjoy!
