Armstrong Metalfest Details Released

The Armstrong Metal Fest will be taking place on July 20th and 21st, with full details available over at the festival's official website. The organizers of the event have now issued the following statement:

"On July 20th-21st, the beautiful Okanagan will play host to the largest metal festival in Western Canada. Over the past few years. metal fans from even the farthest depths of North America have dragged themselves out of their dingy bars, wiped the stale beer from their mouths and joined together in a two day long journey filled with beer, boobs and heavy metal. In the past, Armstrong Metalfest has welcomed bands such as Three Inches of Blood into our small community, and this year will be joined by bands such as Thor, Into Eternity, Nylithia and Ninjaspy. Our list of notable bands will only increase as the years go on.

"In only a few years, Armstrong Metalfest has grown from a locally known one day event, to two days of unforgettable music and events. Beginning as Armstrong Open Air, AMF was founded in the parents' driveway of a dedicate metalhead. The first year featured locally known bands, who performed on a hastily built stage in front of a barn. Over a hundred people battled the rain and moshed on the gravel driveway, creating a soup of blood, rain and dirt that surely must have seeped into the towns water supply. The first event was such a success that there was an immediate cry for more. Soon word spread over British Columbia and filtered into the surrounding provinces and the United States.

"By the third year Armstrong Metalfest had evolved into a two day festival and moved onto festival grounds at the Hassen Arena, in the heart of Armstrong. Our new location was met with a public outcry, as local churches rallied against us. Accused of encouraging crime, Satanism and rape, churches held town meetings demanding that we be expelled from the city. Our website and promotional videos were attacked, as church goers expressed worries that their children would be beaten up, raped and sodomized if they were to attend. More...
