Australian metalcore predecessors I Killed The Prom Queen have reunited and are thrilled to be back to share their first new album in 6 years.
"Beloved" is to be released on February 18th, 2014 on Epitaph Records in the U.S. and February 14th in Australia. Listen to the new track "To The Wolves" below.
By the band's own admission, I Killed The Prom Queen has endured a decidedly checkered past. Over the years the group saw multiple vocalist changes and other personnel exchanges, side-project sojourns and moonlighting in other bands, hiatuses and break-ups. Yet through it all, the musical output both live and on record has remained thoroughly inspired.
IKTPQ entered the studio in 2013 in Gothenburg, Sweden with Fredrik Nordström to record "Beloved."
“We’ve really extended ourselves,” says Jona Weinhofen, “But we’ve done it in a way where it’s tasteful and it makes sense with the music. It’s not like we’ve gone from sounding like a metalcore band to sounding like Dimmu Borgir. It still sounds very much like Prom Queen.”
The album's track listing is as follows:
01. Beginning Of The End
02. To The Wolves
03. Bright Enough
05. Thirty One & Sevens
06. Calvert Street
08. The Beaten Path
10. No One Will Save Us

Australian metalcore outfit I Killed The Prom Queen is back and has officially signed to Epitaph Records worldwide. The band will release a third studio LP in 2014.
Following his stint with Bring Me The Horizon, songwriter and guitarist Jona Weinhofen returns to his role in I Killed The Prom Queen and he states:
"We are absolutely ecstatic to join the Epitaph Records family. Having worked with the label previously with Bring Me The Horizon, I knew exactly what Epitaph was capable of and that it would be the perfect home for I Killed The Prom Queen. Epitaph is already the home to so many of our heroes such as Converge, Refused, Pennywise and Every Time I Die, and has helped launch our good friends Parkway Drive, The Ghost Inside, Day Of Contempt, Letlive. and more. To say that we are a part of this family is truly an honour."
The band has just finalized the recording process in Gothenburg, Sweden with Fredrik Nordström (Bring Me The Horizon, At The Gates, In Flames, Dimmu Brogir, Architects UK), with plans to release the new material in 2014. Jona Weinhofen continues:
"We are dying to get this album out and into the hands of old and new I Killed The Prom Queen fans everywhere. To me this record feels as though I Killed The Prom Queen never took a break and is a natural progression of the band. You will hear hints of our side projects and new influences, but make no mistake, this is an I Killed The Prom Queen record through and through. Its fast, melodic, heavy, catchy and we have added a couple of new elements which really bring it up there with the level of music being created these days." More...

The organisers of the British leg of the Sonisphere festival have announced that they have had to cancel this years event, which was set to feature headline performances from KISS, Faith No More and Queen + Adam Lambert, amongst others. The statement from the organisers reads as follows:
"It is with very heavy hearts and much regret that we announce the cancellation of Sonisphere Knebworth 2012.
"Putting the festival together in what is proving to be a very challenging year was more difficult than we anticipated and we have spent the last few months fighting hard to keep Sonisphere in the calendar. Unfortunately circumstances have dictated that we would be unable to run the festival to a standard that both the artists and that Sonisphere’s audience would rightly expect. More...

After their final tour together in March, ex-members of I Killed The Prom Queen have joined forces with current members of 50 Lions to form Melbourne's latest sensation, Confession. The new band have just completed recording their debut EP, 'Can't Live, Can't Breathe,' and are going out on tour next month with Deez Nuts. 'Can't Live, Can't Breathe' is set to hit store shelves on October 11th. For now, you can hear the demo tracks, which have been posted on the bands Myspace page.
On September 30, Bleeding Through will unleash their latest album, "Declaration." According to the press release, "'Declaration' is heavier, darker, angrier, more pissed off, faster and more epic than anything in the band's already impressive catalog."
The followup to "The Truth" (2006) and "This is Love, This is Murderous" (2003), which have sold a combined quarter of a million albums worldwide, was produced by Devin Townsend in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Contrary to earlier reports of a conceptually driven album, Bleeding Through’s latest is their most diverse offering thematically, addressing a variety of topics on tracks like "There Was a Flood," "Germany" and "Death Anxiety."
Frontman and lyricist Brandan Scheippati has written one last song based on his angry heartbreaking muse, "Sister Charlatan," which closes the album and features the first ever vocal chorus contribution from virtuoso bass player Ryan Wombacher, who also co-wrote the experimental and dark "In Loving Memory of England." Keyboardist Marta is more present than ever throughout the music, including her directing of real strings and classical instrumentation.
"Declaration" is also the first album featuring guitarist Jona Weinhofen, who joined the band over a year ago after the breakup of his former group, I Killed The Prom Queen.
Bleeding Through is on tour with Bullet For My Valentine throughout the US and will support them in Europe through December as well.
Bleeding Through recently had a special edition of "The Truth" release, entitled "The Complete Truth." This deluxe version contains the full album "The Truth," plus unreleased bonus songs and a DVD of a full live show, professionally filmed on tour with Marilyn Manson and Slayer in the Summer of 2007.

Brutal Australia is a documentary into the contemporary Australian metal scene. The projects' myspace page discusses Brutal Australia:
"The heavy music scene has undergone a massive transformation in recent years with an influx of amazing bands, new styles, a new image and an incredible level of acceptance. Now is Australia’s time! The revolution has begun! What were once just a bunch of underground bands rocking out to an empty room at their local pub are now outselling some of Australia's biggest pop stars in both ticket and album sales. Brutal Australia is an in depth documentary showing the scene from the bands perspective, with interviews from the most influential Metal, Hardcore, Metalcore, Hard Rock, Death Metal and Tech bands in the country. This film is a must see for not only all heavy music fans, but also those that may not understand the music, the people or the lifestyle."
Directed by Will Gaffney and produced by Raw Sound Industries, Brutal Australia will see release sometime in November of this year, and will feature Parkway Drive, I Killed The Prom Queen, Sunk Loto, Karnivool, Daysend, Psycroptic, and Five Star Prison Cell. You can visit the projects' Myspace page or Brutal Australia's offical website for more information.
Boston metal/hardcore outfit BURY YOUR DEAD has issued a statement regarding the departure of vocalist Michael Crafter (formerly of the the Australian metal band I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN) less than two months after he was named the group's new lead singer.
Commented the band: "With all the recent hurdles BURY YOUR DEAD has faced, we are still forging ahead. Michael Crafter sacrificed a lot to come to the U.S. and help out on this tour, but unfortunately for him he had to go home with short notice. This does not stop or slow us down in any way. We are completing this tour with the vocal contribution of Myke Terry, formerly of the band CASSIUS. We have not, and will not, cancel any shows on the remainder of this tour. These are trying times for BURY YOUR DEAD but we make these changes to further improve the quality and longevity of this band. Thank you everybody for your support. We will see you shortly."
BURY YOUR DEAD is in the middle of the "Don't Call It A Comeback" headlining tour with SUICIDE SILENCE, STICK TO YOUR GUNS and SINCE THE FLOOD.
Lambgoat reports that they received an email stating that Bury Your Dead singer Michael Crafter has left the band. This information has yet to be confirmed, but here's a statement attributed to Crafter:
"Since I got to the USA I knew I had a lot of weight on my shoulders. I wanted to prove myself so much and be a good frontman for BYD. It’s been 2 months since I got to the USA and all I have wanted is to be home with my friends and this stops me from giving my all. I met a lot of great people here. My time with the band was short and was a lot of fun and a great experience. Eric, Bubble, Slim and Mark became my new mates and I'll forever be grateful I was given this chance. This tour has opened my eyes up to a lot of things and being in a band in another country isn’t what I want to do. From practicing and playing shows with BYD will always be a great memory and something I’m glad I gave a shot. But my home is Australia and home is where the heart is. Thanks again."
Bleeding Through has officially announced the departure of guitarist Scott Danough, stating: "As some of you may have heard, there has been a member change in Bleeding Through, the first member change in over three years. Scott Danough is no longer a member of Bleeding Through. We felt that we had grown apart and it was time for both parties to move on. We wish him the best."
As publicized yesterday amidst news of I Killed The Prom Queen's break-up, IKTPQ guitarist Jona Weinhofen will replace Danough.
Meanwhile, Bleeding Through continues to write material for their next release.
Australian metallers I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN have called it a day. In a statement announcing their decision to go separate ways, the band write, "The final nail in the coffin came when Jona was asked to join USA metal group BLEEDING THROUGH as second guitarist. This, coupled with our inability to find a replacement vocalist, aided the decision to end the band.
"We would all like to sincerely thank all our friends and family and our label's Stomp, Metal Blade, Golf and Howling Bull Records for their ongoing support of IKTPQ and most of all we would like to thank all the fans that made the last seven years the most amazing years of our lives. We feel that we made a good impact on the Australian and worldwide music scenes. We also apologise for the cancellation of our USA tour dates.
"The band will announce a final farewell Australian tour in the coming months."

Victory Records metalcore titans BURY YOUR DEAD have found a new singer to lead them on their upcoming six-week headlining tour of America, aptly dubbed the "Don't Call It A Comeback" tour. Coming aboard is one of the most popular singers ever to come out of Australia's hardcore scene — Michael Crafter. Crafter previously fronted the Australian metal band I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN as well as mosh-core group CARPATHIAN. Crafter has also staged his own hardcore and metal fest Down Under, called Prepare To Burn, a.k.a. "Crafterfest."
"After weeks of practice and hanging out, we have decided that Crafter is now our new frontman," states drummer Mark Castillo. "He's an amazing dude and put forth a ton of effort to show us he was serious about being apart of BYD. Let the good times roll."
Good times will roll out in full force during BURY YOUR DEAD's imminent headlining tour, which kicks off April 20 in Rochester, NY, and covers 45 dates before ending June 3 in Chicopee, MA. Joining BURY YOUR DEAD on the "Don't Call It A Comeback" tour will be SUICIDE SILENCE, STICK TO YOUR GUNS and SINCE THE FLOOD.
