God Dethroned was formed by mainman Henri Sattler in 1990. After one demo they released their debut album “The Christhunt” in 1992 on a tiny German label. Due to problems with the other band members and the record company, Henri decided to split the band. He then formed Ministry Of Terror and released the “Fall Of Life” album with them in 1994. After a European tour Henri left the band and re-formed God Dethroned. With new band members and better songs in his back, Henri and the new God Dethroned recorded “The Grand Grimoire” and inked a deal with Metal Blade. Many successful tours followed in Europe, the U.S. and Japan with great Death and Black Metal acts like Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Immortal, and Marduk, just to name a few.
In the meantime most of the renowned festivals were played: Dynamo Open Air, Wacken, Graspop and Summer Breeze. Drummer Roel Sanders left the band after the US tour promoting “Bloody Blasphemy”. Nile’s Tony Laureano played on the “Ravenous” album, but couldn’t stay. Janne from The Crown played on the tour and finally new drummer Ariën van Weesenbeek came in, whose first recording experience with the band was “Into the Lungs of Hell”.
Bassist Beef and guitar player Jens didn’t have the motivation any more to keep on touring and playing, so they decided to call it quits after about 8 years. About 2 months before the recording of “The Lair of the White Worm” bass player Henk joined the band, and 2 weeks before the recording axeman Isaac came in.

Guitarist Isaac Delahaye of the Dutch death metal band GOD DETHRONED has issued the following update:
"A little while ago our long time drummer Ariën Van Weesenbeek announced he would join the ranks of Dutch gothic metal rockers EPICA, leaving us no other choice than to let him go. We do understand his career move and we wish him all the best of luck for the future, and we'd like to thank him for all the years of pure blasphemy. We will play a farewell show with Ariën on March 28th at the Mezz club in Breda, Holland."
"At the same time we are happy to announce the return of Roel Sanders, our drummer on the 'Grand Grimoire' and 'Bloody Blasphemy' albums!!! Roel left GOD DETHRONED in the summer of 2000, but this time he's back to stay with us till the end. Some of you may also know him as the drummer for INHUME (and don't worry, he will continue with that band too)." More...

Severe Torture are currently on tour with Vader and God Dethroned and have been keeping a diary whilst out on the road.
Here's the (lengthy) SEVERE TORTURE tour report so far:
"The tour started out on the 28th of september in Berlin(DE). After hooking up with Vader, God Dethroned and crew we picked our bunks in the nightliner. This bus was going to be our home for 6 weeks and as far as our experience goes, this was the best and biggest bus we ever had! The first show was better than we expected. Turnout was good for a Thursday (200+) and people seemed to like us. It definitely was a perfect start of the tour!
The second day we went to Jena(DE). The venue was great and we spent the afternoon with some sightseeing in the center of the city. Turnout was good again and the audience was wicked as well. The beer tasted very good and both God Dethroned and Vader gave good shows as well. More...

Dutch death metallers GOD DETHRONED recently entered Soundlodge Studios in Germany to begin recording their new album, tentatively due before the end of the year. The band's frontman Henri Sattler has posted the following studio update on the band's official web site:
"Tomorrow producer Jörg Uken will start on the mix of our new album called, 'The Toxic Touch'. These will be the songtitles: 'Typhoid Mary', 'On Wings of Pestilence', 'Falling Down', 'Away From Emptiness', 'Hating Life', 'Bleeding Mirrors', 'Fail to Exist', 'Macabre World' and '2014'. The artwork is being made as we speak by Jacek Wisniewski who also did the cover for our 'Lair of the White Worm' album. We've seen the first concepts of the artwork and it looks very promising. Mix and mastering should be finished before the end of June and the release is scheduled for October through Metal Blade Records."
GOD DETHRONED's most recent album, "The Lair of the White Worm", was released in November 2004 via Metal Blade Records. GOD DETHRONED's most recent album, "The Lair of the White Worm", was released in November 2004 via Metal Blade Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Into the Lungs of Hell" was recorded at Berno Studios in Malmö, Sweden by Henrik Larsson and was mastered at Franky's Recording Kitchen by Berthus Westerhuis. It marks the group's first release with new members, guitarist Isaac De La Haye (who replaced Jens van der Valk) and bassist Henk "Henke" Zinger (GRINDMINDED).
Gorefest have posted the following message on their website:
"In a surprise move - surprising to us anyway - Bolt Thrower have decided to take along not us, but a different band as their support on the second leg of their European tour. That sucks, because we were really looking forward to this. It also means that, for the second time in 40 days, we have to lick our wounds, put up a message like this one, and apologize to our fans in the UK, Scandinavia, Finland, Germany, France, Spain and Portugal for again disappointing them. It seems that, for some reason, we just can't find the right opportunities to properly tour/promote/support La Muerte. This pisses us off mightily, but if anything, it's putting us in the right state of mind to write some seriously pissed off music for the next album.
"So for now, it's back to the drawing board and try and set up some shows in the aforementioned countries. Be sure to check back here to see them cancelled!"
Supporting Bolt Thrower on their European tour will come from God Dethroned for the first part of the tour and Kataklysm for the remainder of the tour.
Guitarist Isaac Delahaye has posted the following tour recap on the official God Dethroned website:
"We're back from our European headline tour. Satisfied & tired. Every show was great in its own way. Thanx to everyone who made this possible: Max Marzocca & Joël Decoster from Black Box Bookings, Natron & crew, the God Dethroned crew Ozzy & Keez Himself, and of course everyone who was there to get infected with our disease. We've got a lot of video footage for the bonus DVD of the next album, so you'll be able to have a look behind the scene.
Next saturday we've got our last club show; after that we'll focus on the new album. We'll keep you updated 'bout this!

"Hey Worms !
"Some new shows coming up this month. This time in Holland for a change. The first summer festival has been confirmed. It's the Kaltenbach Open Air festival in Austria. And hopefully some more festivals to come.
"Those of you who have missed us on The Tourturing Europe tour with The Haunted and God Forbid will (with a bit of luck) get another chance to see us live soon.
"In the second half of February we will do another European tour with fellow deathsters Natron from Italy. Not everything is totally confirmed yet, but it looks good. We'll keep you posted and just check out our tourdates section on a regular basis.
"Natron was supposed to tour with Deranged from Sweden, but they had to cancel. And since sitting at home doing nothing is never good we were willing to fill in the gap.

Right, enough said, now it's time for a beer !

In a message posted on their website, God Dethroned explain why they didn't show up on Germany's Hell's Pleasure Fest. Their bassist, Henk "Henke" Zinger, had to stay in Holland cause he had been in hospital after a tooth surgery and wasn't able to do anything without pain. The band decided to play the festival without him, but with their sound engineer. However, on the way to the festival, their van broke down and the band did not make it to the festival. God Dethroned apologizes to all their fans who were there but didn't get to see them.
