Napalm Death Checks In From The Road

"Apex Predator - Easy Meat," the 15th studio album by the restless and unrelenting U.K. grind squadron Napalm Death was recently released by Century Media Records.

The album has managed to enter the national sales charts in several countries with some of the best positions the band has ever achieved:

Germany: #36
Switzerland: #64
France: #69
Belgium (Flemish): #103
Belgium (Wallonia): #117
UK: #120
UK Rock Chart: #15
US Top 200: #113
US New Artist Top 50: #2

Napalm Death vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway checked in during the band's current North American tour to say:

"We are pinching ourselves yet again, especially considering the ongoing noise quotient of our output. Thank you and thank you. From the other side of the pond, our ND / Voivod / Exhumed / Iron Reagan / Black Crown Initiate tour is making some nice waves.

"There's something for everybody in this buffet of many extreme flavours, and people are chewing it up. There are old friends, very drunk friends and everybody is indeed happy. Back to Europe, we're giving you all a little time away (though we miss you dearly), but in the meantime we have a tasty little trip planned with Carcass in Australia and New Zealand, with maybe some extra Asia dates sandwiching the whole thing.

"I am looking forward to seeing Shane dressed as an Orc when he finally lives his dream of taking in the Hobbit set down New Zealand way - not to be missed at any costs. All the best for now." More...

Napalm Death Posts New Video

The 15th studio album, "Apex Predator - Easy Meat" by U.K. grind pioneers Napalm Death is released as of today in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Finland via Century Media Records. North American fans can pick up a copy starting Tuesday, January 27th.

To celebrate the album's first release, a special promotional video clip for the short and intense track "Smash A Single Digit" is being debuted today. Check it out below, thanks to Decibel Magazine.

The video for "Smash A Single Digit" was directed and produced by Michael Panduro, who has previously worked for bands like Cephalic Carnage, Saint Vitus, and Job For A Cowboy. The video is made up of 1,093 unique drawings, each one hand-drawn in ink on paper by artist Lisbet Fredslund and 225 of the drawings are of the face of Napalm Death vocalist "Mark "Barney" Greenway, who checked in to comment the clip as follows:

"Couldn't be happier with the 'Smash A Single Digit' video clip. It shows nothing of dignity or life's fundamental pleasures - only a snapshot of those unfortunate enough to only be deemed as numbers for production quotas in this world. When a 'digit' has therefore been expended, it is rubbed out (or consumed leaving no trace, as in the case of this video). In my opinion, Michael Panduro and the team produced a real work of art and I think the general style holds some really nice future artistic possibilities for Napalm Death." More...

Napalm Death Streaming New Track

In the light of the upcoming release date for 15th studio album "Apex Predator - Easy Meat" on January 27th, 2015 in North America via Century Media Records, Napalm Death is now streaming a new track online.

Check out the song "How The Years Condemn" below, courtesy of Stereogum.com. Napalm Death's bassist Shane Embury checked in with the following comment about the song:

"Musically I wanted this track to encompass lots of different rhythms and nuances in the short space of time which the song occupies, which I hope we achieve, and that it bursts with an intensity and emotion to match the theme of the lyrics!

"Lyrically it's a departure from the rest of the new album as its self-reflective - a couple of years ago I was hospitalized prior to a very important tour and was forced to miss out on going and had to stay at home. More importantly I realized in the time I was in hospital that I really had to make a choice which was either to carry on down the same path of selfish destruction as I had seen some of my friends embark on or stay around for the people I loved and who loved me!

"Yes, it's a familiar story, no doubt. but it was an awakening for me which I very much needed and shortly after I was blessed with the birth of my daughter so I am glad I made the right decision... We are not invincible - Nor are we indestructible. There are choices - points of return..." More...

Napalm Death's Barney Greenway Explains New Album

Metal Wani's Owais Nabi and Sairaj Kamath recently conducted an interview with Napalm Death's frontman Mark "Barney" Greenway.

States Greenway on the musical direction of Napalm Death's upcoming new album, "Apex Predator - Easy Meat":

"Well, it's not reinventing the wheel, let's put it like that. It would be inaccurate of me to say so. But it's just a couple of steps forward, basically. There are many different influences within Napalm, but I guess there's two quite distinctive styles, just on a listening level, and that's… you've got the very traditional, fast and chaotic, almost off-the-rails kind of Napalm approach, and then you've got a real kind of queasy, ambient, quite depressing sound, actually, in some ways. And we've been sort of doing the 2 in tandem now for many, many albums, but I think as time goes on, we're tending to mix the styles a little more… not better, necessarily, but in more inventive ways, and I think that's where we are now. That's about the best description I can give, because, obviously, you'll understand that, for us, the album's still really fresh, so I haven't fully digested it, even though I made the fucking thing, along with the other guys. But I have still yet to fully digest it."

Being asked whether "Apex Predator - Easy Meat" is another conceptual effort Greenway continues: More...

Napalm Death Posts New Song Online

Anticipating an upcoming 15th studio album release entitled "Apex Predator - Easy Meat" via Century Media Records on January 27th, Napalm Death is now launching a first online song sample as an appetizer.

Check out the track "Cesspits" below, courtesy of Decibel Magazine. While currently still on tour in Europe, Napalm Death's vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway checked in to comment on the track as follows:

"Cesspits is both literally and figuratively about people living in holes. It is perhaps one of the ultimate indignities and one of those things that a blind eye is often turned to. The subject matter called for a very savage delivery, and although there are quite a few musical facets to this song, it doesn't stop letting rip." More...

Mitch Harris To Miss Upcoming Napalm Death Shows

After announcing yesterday that Napalm Death and Voivod would be joining forces at the end of January for the "Through Space And Grind" tour, Napalm Death has now issued the following statement about Mitch Harris missing the trek:

"Due to illness within his family, we would like to announce that Mitch Harris will unfortunately not be performing with us for the near future. We stress that this is not a permanent arrangement, although we are unsure exactly when Mitch will return under the circumstances.

"Naturally, we sympathize and wish Mitch all the best for now. In the meantime we will be joined by guitarists who we know can grind it out in his absence."

Napalm Death Announces Tour With Voivod

Napalm Death and Voivod will join forces at the end of January for a North American Tour aptly titled "Through Space And Grind."

Napalm Death is set to release "Apex Predator - Easy Meat" on January 27 right after returning from the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise and the night the Through Space And Grind tour starts. The band comments:

"As a celebration of both the unconventional and more straight-out methods of musical attack, I think this tour line-up really hits home. To think that 30 years ago I was marveling at the savage eccentricities of 'War and Pain' and now I'm sharing stage / living space with Snake, Away and co...surreal, almost. From Napalm's perspective, we'll bring the overdrive to the spaciness - it's all going to rage whichever way you slice it."

Voivod released latest album "Target Earth" in 2013 and took a brief hiatus, now back with a new bass player and healthy vocal chords. Voivod had this to say:

"I am psyched to tour North America with Napalm Death, for which i always had a huge respect. We crossed path over the years and finally we'll get to unite Voivod's spacy Thrash Metal with Napalm's Grindcore. A perfect combination!!" More...

Housecore Horror Film Festival Day 2

Michigan psyche doom-death group, Acid Witch opened day two on Midway’s outdoor stage. After a night of barely any sleep, I didn’t arrive in time to catch their set. It’s a shame because they were one of the bands I wanted to see. I heard a burst of guitar notes from tech-death metallers Archspire but only as I pulled into the venue. The first part of this day would be spent around the press tent conducting interviews with Napalm Death and Gwar. This included missing most of the set from Polish death metal veterans Decapitated, whose late coming was the apparent reason for Midway being behind on time. The day before their appearance at Housecore the group had totaled their van. I’m not sure how they made it to Austin, but they were there and played a full set. More...
