New England Metal Fest and Orion Music + More are huge opportunities for the band and I'm honored to fill in behind the kit, they are definitely one of my favorite new bands!"

Metallica, in conjunction with C3 Presents, is pleased to announce the lineup for the 2013 Orion Music + More Festival, to be held at Belle Isle in Detroit, MI on June 8th and 9th.
Headliners will include Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones, and Bassnectar, while the festival will also feature acts including Gogol Bordello, Foals, Tomahawk, The Joy Formidable, Death Grips, and local Detroit bands The Dirtbombs and Battlecross.
"Last year's Orion Music + More Festival was hands down the highlight of the Metallica calendar. A great time was had by all, especially the band members," said Lars Ulrich. "The fact that it also resonated with enough of our fans and friends that it warrants another go-around in '13 is beyond exciting. I can think of no better place than the Motor City, with its rich and diverse history of music, for the second ride on our Orion festival train. Bring it the fuck on!"
Orion Music + More will feature more than 30 bands across 5 live music stages plus a lifestyle element that reflects each of Metallica's band members many personal interests. Detroit Thrashers Battlecross have announced that they will enter the studio next month to record the follow-up to their 2011 Metal Blade debut "Pursuit of Honor" (reviewed here).
The band will begin recording immediately after the "Another Year, Another Tour" with In Flames, Demon Hunter, and All Shall Perish for 27 North American dates that begins on February 2nd in Ft. Lauderdale.
Battlecross will look to Mark Lewis and crew at Audiohammer Studios in Florida to record the album, scheduled for release in summer 2013. Lewis, responsible for the production and/or engineering for bands such as The Black Dahlia Murder, Trivium, Devil Driver, and Deicide said, "I can't wait to be a part of Battlecross' next record. From the moment I heard the band I knew I wanted to be a part of their development. Hearing the new music has only solidified that feeling. Working with our good friends at Metal Blade and bringing great new music to the masses is what it's all about."
Eyal Levy will handle engineering duties on the record and Armored Saint's Joey Vera, who mastered the band's cover version of Pantera's "Fucking Hostile," will master.
Guitarist Hiran Deraniyagala says the band is "stoked to be working with a prolific studio and producer at Audiohammer. We're so focused on making a killer follow up album and we feel that Mark Lewis will help bring our raw, live sound to life." More...
The latest round of bands confirmed to storm the stage at New England Metal and Hardcore Festival XV has today been announced. The fresh additions to the brutal three-day event include Alleageon, Alpha & Omega, Born Low, MurderDeathKill and Dark Sermon, as well as Baltimore hardcore squad Trapped Under Ice and New Jersey’s renowned explosive tech metal practitioners The Dillinger Escape Plan.
A tour based around the fest has also been created by MassConcerts, something they’ve done for the past four years. Dubbed Mission Quest to Metal Fest, the trek was formed in order to help a few of the bands get to and from NEMHF this year. This year the tour unifies Expire, Alpha & Omega, Power Trip, Twitching Tongues, and Antagonist A.D. on a ten-date assault leading up to their individual performances at the festival.
Stated promoter Scott Lee on the formation of this built-in tour: “We are really proud of this year’s lineup, and to bring these bands together leading up to it. The tour includes Expire who played last year, California powerhouse Alpha & Omega, Power Trip who is an up-and-coming hardcore band from Texas, and Twitching Tongues. We're also very excited to have Antagonist A.D. from New Zealand; they are the band coming from the farthest away for the fest. Pretty happy to have them; we love putting foreign bands on the bill!” More...
