Following the band's originally scheduled support slot on the recently cancelled Machine Head tour, Michigan's Battlecross will be heading back out on the road next month for more than two dozen headlining dates through North America.
Dubbed the "Winter Warriors" tour, the trek will kick off on November 26th in Grand Rapids, Michigan and conclude on December 30th in Worcester, Massachusetts. Support will come from Wretched and War Of Ages.
In honor of the U.S. Armed Forces, this Veterans Day Battlecross will make a limited number of tickets available to VET TIX so that local members of the military may attend a show in their city at no cost. The band will also be donating a portion of the funds generated from sales of a limited edition tour shirt to a local veteran's charity, and choose a veteran in each market for a VIP experience.
On Veteran's Day (November 11th) fans can nominate a friend or family member who has served their country and share their story and photo, with a member of the military being chosen to win a guitar and more at the end of the tour.
On the same day, the band will also bring back merchandise from their first Metal Blade album, "Pursuit Of Honor," in their official merch store, with a portion of the proceeds being set aside to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project, a veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events to wounded veterans of the military following the events of September 11th, 2001.
Battlecross just checked in with the following update about new tour dates running through the end of the year:

Battlecross recently returned home from the band's first trip to the southern hemisphere. The Detroit shredders performed live in South America with Killswitch Engage, plus a show in Mexico City with none other than Black Label Society.
The career first will be followed by the band's second go around with the fine folks at Audiohammer studios in Florida. Before tracking begins, however, Battlecross will be on tour throughout North America with Machine Head. The tour, which also features Children of Bodom and Epica, begins on October 4th in Denver, CO.
Guitarist Tony Asta comments on recording: "We are very pleased to announce our return to Audiohammer this winter to record the next album. Warm sunny Florida has absolutely nothing to do with our decision to go back! We are honored to work with producers Mark Lewis and Eyal Levi once again, as their guidance and expertise has really helped us grow. I am very enthusiastic about the new material so far and, although we're still in the early stages the creative process, it's proving to be a little less painful than before. It will kick your ass."
The band also offered up the following statement regarding recent South American tour dates:
"It's unreal how many different countries we've been to this year! We've done Europe twice and we finally hit Mexico City and Brazil this summer! We knew Mexico would be big for Battlecross because we see tons of fans from Mexico City posting on facebook, but we still weren't prepared for how well the fan response would be when we opened for Black Label.
"For never playing that part of the world, word sure spreads quickly because the fans were rabid in both Mexico and Brazil! Singing along, chanting, circle pits and hair whips--- they were relentless! Probably the best shows we've ever played. We're thankful for Black Label and Killswitch Engage taking us down there and everyone at Liberation MC, Eyescream, The Agency Group and more. It was an experience to remember and thankfully we got some killer footage to show you! We can't wait to return to south of the border!"

Machine Head will continue dominating North America with the announcement of a 21-show U.S. and Canadian trek in support of the band's debut studio album for Nuclear Blast Entertainment, due out this Fall.
The devastating lineup will also feature Children of Bodom, Epica, and Battlecross. The tour launches on October 4th in Denver, Colorado and includes five Canadian cities before closing out in Hollywood, California on November 1st.
Machine Head front man & guitarist Robb Flynn checks in about the touring line-up and the upcoming shows:
"Machine Head raised the bar with concert production for 2012 ‘s 'Locust' tour, and now we plan to raise the bar again with our biggest US show yet, and the strongest line-up out there for 2014, PERIOD!!
"This is a MUST SEE event for any heavy metal fan in America! I am stoked that we were able to join up with our friends in Children Of Bodom, one of the premier power metal bands of our time, and our friends in Battlecross, who we toured with on Mayhem last year, and are going to bring the old-school thrash vibe. Epica’s symphonic metal will add a touch of much needed class to the drunken shenanigans that will surely take place on this raucous tour. Come out and be a part of history ladies and gentlemen!"
Children Of Bodom's Alexi Laiho adds: “We’ve rolled with Machine Head quite a few times in the past. My best memories are kick azz shows, parties, camaraderie and vocal coaching from Robb Flynn way back in 2008, so I think we’ll have a good time tearing it up all over North America! Not a bad way to end the long and non stop tour cycle for 'Halo Of Blood!'"
“With this killer line-up, this tour is bound to be a great success,” states Epica vocalist Simone Simons. “We will bring Epica to a whole new level and I can't wait to play the new songs along with the old material overseas.”
Epica founding member Mark Jansen shares: “Machine Head and Children of Bodom are bands I listened to as teenager, so it's really amazing to be on this tour with Epica." More...

The Canadian Wacken Battle champions Crimson Dhadows recently signed with Napalm Records and will have a new album out this summer. The album was recorded at Silverwing Studios in Montreal with producers Jonathan Lefrançois and Jee Gagnon and was mixed by Eyal Levi of Audiohammer Studios.
Bassist Morgan Rider says, "We are beyond excited to announce our second foray into the United States this year with our American brothers, Battlecross! We have been meticulously labouring away on our new album for Napalm Records and now we cannot wait to further prove ourselves to them and to our American fans and fans to be! Cheers!" More...
American thrash act Battlecross has confirmed summer tour dates with Canada's Wacken Battle winners Crimson Shadows and New York's IKILLYA.
Guitarist Hiran Deraniyagala says, "We're excited to announce our first headline run in quite a while. It's short but sweet, and this gives us time to write the new record this summer. We are stoked to have our Canadian brothers, Crimson Shadows joining us. We did a short run with those guys earlier this year and they're a great live band and have an awesome record coming out next fall."
After two busy summers on the 2012 Trespass America tour and the 2013 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, the band looks forward to some time off before South American dates with Killswitch Engage. Battlecross will use the time to write the follow up to "War of Will."
Battlecross is currently on tour in Europe with a series of festival appearances including Download Festival and the Graspop Metal Meeting, plus club shows with Huntress and Lacuna Coil. A full list of dates can be found below.
Guitarist Tony Asta says, "The past year has been very inspiring for the band and our attitude towards the writing process this time around is more confident and driven. I expect our next album to kick you in the ass harder than the last. Album #3 will be a serious contender in 2015 and a defining Battlecross record." More...
Detroit, MI's Battlecross is releasing a new cover of Slayer's "War Ensemble." SiriusXM Liquid Metal's Jose Mangin will debut the track live today at 5:00 pm EST. It will then repeat every three hours throughout the weekend.
Guitarist Hiran Deraniyagala says, "Slayer is obviously one of our biggest influences. Slayer taught me personally to not give a fuck and throw in attitude in your riffs. War Ensemble is one of my favorite Slayer songs because it embodies the aggression and attitude of Slayer but also is more dynamic than a traditional Slayer song that is all speed.
"Jeff Hanneman was an underrated player and it's shame his greatness was only recognized after he passed. In honor of Jeff we wanted to cover 'War Ensemble' and throw in a bit of our own twist and speed to the song. Slayer!!!!!!"
The track will be available for streaming online on May 27th and will later be made available to fans via iTunes.
Battlecross' cover of "War Ensemble" was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Matt Dalton at 37 Studios in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Battlecross recently kicked off a North American tour with Killswitch Engage and Trivium. This week, our Official Podcast brings you another round of live music recaps. First, co-host Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) revisits the burgeoning local metal scene of Lynchburg, Virginia – previously covered here – with a rundown of its newly minted “Thursday Throwdown” series of concerts.
The second show, held at Phase 2 on Thursday, April 17th, presented a compact and delightfully complete ceremony of rock and metal tribute, starting with three-piece cover act Mourn The Illusion, continuing with progressive melodic metallers Unspoken, and culminating with headliners and local hard rock darlings Singleside ("Moving Forward" album review here).
Next up, co-host Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) discusses a recent headlining performance in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, by Canadian bizarro-metal wackos Protest The Hero. Check out his thoughts about the bill, which included openers Intervals, eclectic tech-proggers The Safety Fire, and strangely, Detroit thrashers Battlecross.
Finally, your co-hosts react to the recently released single “All Rise” from Wovenwar, the new formation of As I Lay Dying members minus prison-bound frontman Tim Lambesis. Wovenwar features Jordan Mancino (drums), Nick Hipa (guitar), Phil Sgrosso (guitar), Josh Gilbert (bass/vocals), and Oh, Sleeper frontman Shane Blay (vocals).

The latest round of additions to the continually-expanding lineup for 2014's installment of the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival has been disclosed, including Massachusetts' own '90s hardcore punk act, Sam Black Church.
Confirmed as one of the main headliners of the event's third night, Saturday, April 19th, Sam Black Church's set at NEMHF 2014 will mark only the third performance since the group initially disbanded at the turn of the century, and first in Central Massachusetts since the late '90s.
Stated the band upon being asked to take part in the massive event this Spring: "It is amazing what the man we used to know as Ogre has done with the New England Metalfest! We are fucking excited to be a part of it once again!"
The organizers of the fest comment: "Formed in Boston, in June of 1988 by Jesse "Jet" Crandall (vocals), Ben Crandall (guitar), Richard G. Lewis (bass), and J.R. After releasing three full-lengths on Taang! Records, they left to join Wonderdrug where they remained until they retired in 2000 after releasing a total of seven albums. Since disbanding, Sam Black Church reunited for a sold-out show on September 22, 2007, at The Roxy in Boston, and played a another sold-out performance at Hometown Throwdown #16 with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones at House of Blues in Boston on December 29th, 2013.
