As was previously announced, Chicago's Diamond Plate will head out on a North American tour supporting Bay Area thrashers Death Angel.
Diamond Plate will join Death Angel, 3 Inches of Blood, Battlecross, and Revocation on October 19th at the world-famous Whisky A Go-Go in Hollywood. Diamond Plate guitarist Konrad Kupiec comments:
"This lineup speaks for itself, and we couldn't be more pumped to announce this tour. After months of writing and recording the new album, we've become totally roadsick and can't wait to be back playing live!"
Today, Konrad Kupiec will play the band's new album, "Pulse," in its entirety during an official listening event at Exit Chicago. "Pulse" is due out August 20th in North America via Century Media Records/Earache Records. More...
The night of August 8th was to mark the first appearance of Amon Amarth and Children of Bodom in Nashville, TN at Marathon Music Works. In what was to be a night packed with unfortunate surprises, the venue ended up being changed (and subsequently downsized) to a smaller venue known as the Exit/In, which sold out completely. Adding to that, it was announced shortly before the first set of the night that Children of Bodom would not play their set, due to the hospitalization of Bodom front man Alexi Laiho.
Some of the attendees decided to take a refund and leave after the announcement had been made, clearly Bodom loyalists. Most of the audience stayed for the duration of the show, as it was also announced that Battlecross, Huntress, and Amon Amarth would be playing longer sets to make up for the absence of the co-headliners. Those who stayed were at least treated to a blistering few sets, easily making up for the price of admission. Amon Amarth prepared an especially powerful set that turned the packed venue's air into a murky soup of hot sweat. More...
Battlecross is about to return home from a summer of touring as part of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, but won't be idle for long. The Michigan-based upstarts will be performing at the GWAR-BQ next weekend, then will head out on a short tour in September-October with Hatebreed.
To cap off 2013, Battlecross has announced the band will be supporting Death Angel this fall. Battlecross will join the tour's other supporting acts 3 Inches of Blood, Revocation, and Diamond Plate for a tour that begins on October 18th in San Francisco and wraps on November 10th in Santa Ana, CA.
Jägermeister has been a proud sponsor of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival since its inception and this year is no different.
This year the festival stage is being headlined by Machine Head, a legendary JagerWorld experience, The Metal of Honor Award, the brand’s first-ever Guitar Shred-Meister competition, Celebrity Chef signings, and daily artist signings for those of legal drinking age.
Chef Chris Santos will join the 2013 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival for the remainder of the summer, where he will be taking part in signings at the Jägermeister booth, co-hosting the Shred-Meister competition, cooking Jägermeister-infused recipes at the official after-parties and for artists, and whipping up private meals for the headlining artists.
“I'm beyond excited to be joining the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival on behalf of Jagermeister and to spread the word about the Jägermeister 'Charred' BBQ Contest happening this summer,” states Santos. “I'll be doing signings daily and roaming the festival all day so if you see me grab me and say hello and we'll chat about Jäger or hit the pit!”
The chef's appearances are all a part of the “Charred, Earn your Place at the Pit” BBQ Competition, a search for the best grill recipes incorporating Jägermeister. The challenge, which kicked off in June, is divided into three categories: Cow, Bird, and Hog, from which Santos selects one winner per category. More...

Detroit, MI's Battlecross has completed work on a second album for Metal Blade Records. The title, track-listing, as well as music and behind the scenes studio videos are being readied for public consumption.
Until then, Battlecross has shared some thoughts on the recording process at Audiohammer Studios with producer Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Trivium, Whitechapel, DevilDriver).
Guitarist Hiran Deraniyagala explains: "I was extremely excited about recording our next album but I didn't know what to expect coming into Audiohammer. There was a lot of pressure on us, but we delivered! Our efforts would not have produced the same results without the masterminds of Mark and Eyal. I haven't stopped listening to it and I can't wait for the world to hear it!"
Guitarist Tony Asta adds: "We really pushed ourselves on the new album. Working with Mark and Eyal at Audiohammer was learning experience for me, especially while honing my lead guitar parts. The album came out light years ahead of my expectations and I'm proud to say I had a part in it. The recording process was different than I was used to but I really like their approach. The laid back atmosphere, mixed with the deliver or be delivered expectations, really inspired me to do my best.
On the low end, over-the-top bass guitar phenom, Don Slater, offers up his thoughts on the process: "What makes recording an album almost seem effortless is the environment and professionalism you are working with; Eyal Levi and Mark Lewis at Audiohammer are prime examples of this in top-notch form. As laid back as their approach is to their craft, it enables unbroken focus to the project by not fogging things up with unwanted stress. I simply couldn't have asked for a better team of gentlemen to work with, and the almost random cameos by Jason Suecof were a treat as well. These guys know exactly what they are doing, and it shows in their work, namely our upcoming release. Also, knowing the caliber of musicians they've worked with drove me to do the very best I could for this album, inspiring me to think outside the typical bass box. Our experience with Audiohammer not only pushed us to make the best damned album possible, but also made a better musician of myself. I can't thank them enough." More...
Battlecross has completed work on a sophomore album, which will be due out this summer during the band's tour as part of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.
Recording has been completed and the finishing touches are being applied to the tracks and art. During tracking, drummer Shannon Lucas stepped in as the session drummer for the album. Lucas comments: "Being a fan of Battlecross, it is an honor to be a part of their new record. I can't wait for the world to hear this album."
Producer Eyal Levi adds, "I am so beyond excited for the chance to produce Shannon Lucas on the new Battlecross record. He's one of the true BEASTS of metal drumming. The man's skills are literally untouchable. Combine that with a badass rising star of a band and I think we've got the makings of a crushing record!"
As previously announced, Kevin Talley will be stepping in to play drums for the band on two upcoming live performances, the New England Metal & Hardcore Fest (4/19) and the Orion Music & More Festival (6/08-6/09). Drummer Mike Kreger has parted ways with the band to focus on some new opportunities and attend to personal business. Battlecross will announce a new permanent member once a final decision has been made.
The album, scheduled to be released in early summer, also features a guest guitar solo by Producer Jason Suecof, and will be mastered by Joey Vera of Armored Saint. Vera also mastered the band's cover of Pantera's "Hostile," which was released as a single last summer. More...

Working with our good friends at Metal Blade and bringing great new music to the masses is what it's all about."

The latest round of bands confirmed to storm the stage at New England Metal and Hardcore Festival XV has today been announced. The fresh additions to the brutal three-day event include Alleageon, Alpha & Omega, Born Low, MurderDeathKill and Dark Sermon, as well as Baltimore hardcore squad Trapped Under Ice and New Jersey’s renowned explosive tech metal practitioners The Dillinger Escape Plan.
A tour based around the fest has also been created by MassConcerts, something they’ve done for the past four years. Dubbed Mission Quest to Metal Fest, the trek was formed in order to help a few of the bands get to and from NEMHF this year. This year the tour unifies Expire, Alpha & Omega, Power Trip, Twitching Tongues, and Antagonist A.D. on a ten-date assault leading up to their individual performances at the festival.
Stated promoter Scott Lee on the formation of this built-in tour: “We are really proud of this year’s lineup, and to bring these bands together leading up to it. The tour includes Expire who played last year, California powerhouse Alpha & Omega, Power Trip who is an up-and-coming hardcore band from Texas, and Twitching Tongues. We're also very excited to have Antagonist A.D. from New Zealand; they are the band coming from the farthest away for the fest. Pretty happy to have them; we love putting foreign bands on the bill!” More...
