Iceland may be known for volcanoes, waterfalls and an uncanny respect for trolls.... but the music scene is rich with all kinds of acts from all walks of life. One of the country's greatest exports is unquestionably viking metal act Skálmöld.
Just over a year ago Skálmöld released "Með Vættum" to the world (reviewed here). Today the band celebrates that release with the premiere of the new lyric video "Að Vetri" ("Winter") as fall brings the death and cold slumber of the winter season.

Colectiv Club Fire Death Toll Reaches 45
At the end of October, Goodbye To Gravity played a record release show at the Colectiv Club in Bucharest in which dozens were killed and hundreds injured when a fire broke out.
According to a new story from Classic Rock, the death toll has now reached 45, with Goodbye To Gravity's drummer Bogdan Enache passing away yesterday. An excerpt from the story reads:
He was the third member of the Romanian band to die, after their pyro display caused a blaze in which over 160 others were injured on October 30. Enache’s heart failed while he was being transported to Switzerland for burn treatment. Medical crew spent 70 minutes in attempts to keep him alive.
Guitarists Vlad Telea and Mihai Alexandru both died in the club, while vocalist Andrei Galut remains in a serious condition in a Netherlands hospital, and bassist Alex Pascu is recovering from surgery in Romania. 95 others remain in medical establishments across Europe.
Colectiv owner Alin Anastasescu and two associates were arrested and charged with homicide on November 2. Romanian prime minister Victor Ponta and his government resigned as a result of public reaction to the tragedy.
Metal groups from across the globe have reacted with shock to the tragedy, with Iceland's Skalmold the latest to issue a statement. The band comments:
"Skálmöld played the Club Colectiv last February and has played in beautiful Romania both before and since then. We have made great friends in promoters, club owners, local bands and of course the heartwarming fans. We lost many in this terrible accident and others are hurt. We are all hurt, the whole family. Words cannot change anything but we want you to know that we are thinking of you and that we will be coming back to Romania again asap. Take care of the ones who are hurt, remember those who lost their lives and stay strong. See you soon."
