It was recently announced that Rigor Mortis guitarist Mike Scaccia passed away on December 23rd on stage during a performance.
Since then Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen has issued a statement about Mike's passing, and various other metal bands have also shared their thoughts about Mike online.
The Electric Hellfire Club:
We in The Electric Hellfire Club are saddened to learn of the untimely death of one of industrial/metal's greatest, most-underrated players, Ministry/RevCo/Rigor Mortis guitarist Mike Scaccia. Our condolences to his family. However, we should all be so lucky to shuffle off this mortal coil as he did: doing what we love, which, in his case was playing onstage with a guitar in his hands. We'll miss you, Mike.

Guitarist Alex Rydlinski of Turbid North has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band's drummer:
"With heavy empathy we have to announce that brother Adam Rydlinski has resigned from Turbid North. We all have nothing but respect for him, and a million great memories from our many adventures. His musical cleverness and always-inspiring talent will be sorely missed.
"Luckily, Jono Garret (formerly of The Destro) is our new fulltime drummer after filling-in on our 27 date ‘Trudge Tour.’ Now that he’s very familiar with our ‘Orogeny’ material (and kicking the ass out of it) we’re more than ready to begin hashing out the new stuff. We hope everyone likes really heavy shit…Standby for video updates over the next few months.
"Lastly, I wanted to say: much, much thanks to everyone who came out to see us this last time on the road—fans, friends, family, and our dedicated team of professionals. It was great seeing/meeting you all, and we look very forward to seeing you again when we have some new music to share."
Turbid North possesses many facets that make them an attractive concert prospect. The group plays a style of extreme metal that is mellow and malevolent at the same time. They have released two albums, and now they’re backed by Unearth’s Trevor Phipps’ Ironclad Records. Turbid North’s story is of interest, too. Their members migrated from Alaska and England to north Texas. Still, the group expressed their concern about packing clubs in unknown markets.
I reassured bassist, Chris O’Toole that their performance at Head Hunters would be a success because the opening, local bands would help pack the house. This is exactly what happened. Patrons came out to see Turbid North, but the large bill of bands playing on two stages resulted in nearly filling the couple-hundred capacity inside Head Hunters. Bands such as Whore of Bethlehem and Vex feature members with a long history in the Austin metal scene, so they brought their share of fans. More...

SXSW Music officially began on Wednesday, March 16th. My schedule was jam-packed and I quicky fell behind on reporting on the days’ events at the conference, which started with an interactive conference on March 11th.
Despite being out late for a show the night before, I decided to head over to the conference center to catch my first music talk: “Welcome to the Music Business - You’re Fucked.” I didn’t have great expectations from the description alone. Once seated, I was hearing great things about the speaker, who turned out to be Martin Atkins, author of “Tour:Smart” and former drummer for Ministry and Killing Joke among others. More...
