Swedish act Age of Woe has checked in with the following announcement about recruiting a drummer and update on the band's new album:
"We just got back home from the lovely Rosenhanska Magasinet, where we resided to record our upcoming album. It was a place that instantly filled us with inspiration, energy, and serenity and which made a huge impact on us while recording. Together with producers and sound engineers Lennart Östlund (Polar Studios) and Carlos Sepulveda (Belly of the Whale Studio), we recorded 10 dirty, heavy as fuck songs that we all are extremely satisfied with.
"All that is left now before the mixing and mastering is to record some additional guitars and the vocals. So unfortunately it will still take some more time before we can unveil more juicy information about this album. But be prepared to be knocked out!
"An even more important news is that we finally can announce that we have found a new drummer to replace Markus. David Flood (Monachus) has been a great friend and also covered for Markus on our European tour in April, so the choice was not that hard to make. Besides, David is an outstanding drummer so it feels great to welcome him as a member in Age of Woe.
"Stay tuned for more info about the upcoming album."

Sweden's Age of Woe has issued the following recap of the band's 2011 activity:
"2011 was a great year in many ways for Age of Woe. We recorded and released our debut 7? EP in September, and digitally through Pivotal Rockordings in December, which received a lot of positive reactions and great reviews all around.
"To promote the release, we decided to live stream a short set we played at the Belly of the Whale studio in Gothenburg. It was a very cool event and nothing any of us had ever done before. It turned out to be more successful than we’d ever thought it could be. Hopefully we will be able to release this live recording in some way during 2012.
"We also played a lot of cool shows during the year, including a mini-tour in Germany. We ended the year by playing at the Scorched Tundra Festival at Sticky Fingers in Gothenburg together with As You Drown, Zombiekrig, Marionette and Eldrimner. It was a great night and a lot of people attended this newborn festival.
"During the second part of 2011 we started to work on the next big project, which will be our first full length album. It culminated in a trip to a cottage in the woods, where we isolated ourselves for a week to work more intensely on the album. The recording of this album are planned for April/May, and so far it looks very promising.
"We know that this year will be even more productive and intense for Age of Woe. For starters, we have a European tour coming up in April and even more shows to be confirmed during the first part of 2012. We are also working on some other cool stuff that we hope can be revealed soon, so stay alert and keep your eyes open."
Age of Woe has checked in with the following update about recording new material:
"It’s new years eve, and we are all back in Gothenburg again after spending the past week in a cottage to work on our upcoming album. It has been wonderful time and the stress-releasing environment was perfect for us to focus on Age of Woe related stuff.
"Although, since the cottage is located out in the countryside, we had a hard time posting new blog posts on a daily basis to let you know how we were doing. Hence this recap post.
"We went to the cottage with a few new songs and a lot of riffs and ideas in the bag, so we had a lot to work on and the main goal with this expedition was to get a clear picture of what the album would sound like, what direction to take and also to record pre-prods of all the songs. As most of the times, things tend to go quite fast once we have started to work and this was no exception. We rarely think about what kind of song we want to write or how we want the structures to be. It kind of comes naturally, as if the songs have their own life force. It has more or less become the Age of Woe way of writing songs – everything starts with a riff.
"In the end we recorded 6 tracks and some other riffs and ideas, so we have come a long way towards completing the writing process for this album. Of course we can’t know for sure if all the songs we made so far will make it on the album, but at the moment they all feel very solid. Anyway, it will be a very heavy, groovy and evil album. That’s for sure.
"On Wednesday, December 28th, we went back to Gothenburg to play the Scorched Tundra Festival at Sticky Fingers together with As You Drown, Marionette, Zombiekrig and Eldrimner. It was a wicked night and there were a lot of people attending this show. You can watch some photos of the show here."
