Metal Injection has premiered a new track from Norwegian black metal act Enslaved. The track, "Heimvegen" comes off the band's upcoming "The Sleeping Gods" EP, which will be released for free via Scion A/V in the near future. You can check out the song here.
"The Sleeping Gods," which is the follow-up to 2010's "Axioma Ethica Odini" (reviewed here), was recorded in Solslottet Studio in Bergen, and partly in the band's own home studio. The release comes as Scion A/V - a lifestyle division of the Scion car manufacturer - expands its brand, launching a metal label and promoting underground shows featuring heavy bands like Trap Them and Black Breath.
"It's exciting to be collaborating with Enslaved on this release," Scion sales promotion manager Jeri Yoshizu said. "We feel the pairing is vital as we aim for the label's approach to embody the same sense of forward thinking as the band's music."
The track listing is as follows:
2. Alu Misyrki
5. The Sleeping Gods
Norwegian progressive black metal veterans Enslaved have revealed that they will be celebrating the band's 20 years of existence on their forthcoming European tour. A message from the group reads as follows:
"Friends, finally the time has come to go out on the road again – this time with our own tour through Europe. This marks the grand opening of the 2011 touring cycle (even though we’ve warmed up with some great eastern European shows already), and also a special year for us. During these very dates we will pass the timeline on the exact date when Enslaved was brought into flesh. Yes, folks; Enslaved is turning 20 in 2011! We are looking forward to celebrating this in the best possible way we can imagine (and we have pretty active imaginations!): on the road, playing live shows for the people who lend us their ears and dedication. As always there will be a wild mix of songs from all parts of our career, particularly the really old and the really new; we can assure you that the new songs from Axioma Ethica Odini we’ve added to the set kick ass live! It is a short tour but at least a full set and we can assure you that a lot more shows will follow! See you soon!"

The organisers of Norway's Hole In The Sky festival have announced that this year's edition of the event will be the last, concluding twelve years of history. However, it promises to go out with a bang as some of the biggest names in extreme metal will be performing at the event with Immortal, Mayhem, Satyricon and Enslaved being the latest confirmations. A message from the organisers reads as follows:
"There’s a saying that all good things must come to an end. For twelve years we’ve been fortunate enough to meet many of our favourite artists, shared some incredible metal moments with fans coming from all over the world, and worked with some of the best in the scene.
"Twelve years is a long time and we’ve always invested a lot of time and effort in making the festival the best it possible can be and never compromise.
"Hole in the Sky has been a thing we’ve taken great pride in and it would be a very sad thing to let the festival suffer due to other commitments and responsibilities that comes along as you get older, so basically we want go out on a high note when we still feel inspired and on top of the game. Mind you, we will go out in a spectacular fashion. More...

"Raised from the ashes of Hellhammer and Celtic Frost by Tom Gabriel Fischer himself, PARTY.SAN 2011 is proud and honored to announce the addition of Triptykon to its expanding bill of bands. Hell literally broke loose with the release of the band's Eparistera Daimone debut. Pitch black and truly evil music for devoted fans of extreme metal.
"Gorguts from Canada recently joined the PARTY.SAN bill. A death metal dinosaur of sorts, the band formed in 1989 and, having survived a host of trends, tragedies and breakups, are still going strong today. Gorguts will present to you a technical and extremely furious death metal show you will never forget.
"Enslaved are easily among Norway’s finest bands. The progressive black/Viking metal ensemble has remained dark and innovative for their two-decade-long existence and will bring their monolithic blackness to the PARTY.SAN 2011 stage." More...

Norwegian progressive black metal outfit Enslaved has revealed the winner of its fan video contest for the track "Ethica Odini." The winning clip was produced by YouTube user LookaB, also known as Luka Bajt. The band commented by saying:
Guitarist Ivar Bjornson commented:
"First and foremost we wish to thank everybody who has taken part in this contest. We have seen many exciting visual interpretations of our musical and conceptual universe; some of them stood out from the rest and we are really happy to announce the three winners of the competition. Also, we would like to take the opportunity to apologize for the delay in announcing the results. We have simply been outmaneuvered by touring and poor internet access on our touring trek throughout the last month. Thank you for your patience, and hope you will enjoy watching our new videos as much as we do!"
Bassist Grutle Kjellson added:
"Thanks a lot to all you great people that used your talent, passion and precious time on this contest! You should know that we are very proud of you all, and that we really appreciate your efforts! You are not afraid to bleed, not afraid to dream!"
