Remember about a year ago when Coheed And Cambria decided to turn the now-deceased Justice Scalia's dissenting opinions on gay marriage into a song?
The boys are at it again, this time singing Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell's obstructionist comments about not considering the replacement for Scalia's empty supreme court seat.
Following the "You Got Spirit, Kid" video (still available here), Coheed and Cambria today debut “Here To Mars,” a new song from the band’s forthcoming album, "The Color Before The Sun," due out October 16 via 300 Entertainment.
“My wife has helped pull me from the throes of an identity crisis,” explained Claudio Sanchez of the inspiration behind “Here to Mars.” He goes on to say, “While I can barely comprehend the distance of our planetary neighbor, let alone the ever expanding universe, my love for her knows no distance.” More...
Man, don't you hate it when you have to run naked through the halls of your high school? It's time for some rad times at Amory High with this new video clip for Coheed And Cambria's "You Got Spirit, Kid."
The clip, an homage to ‘80s teen movies, is available below. Front man Claudio Sanchez comments: “Our video for ‘You Got Spirit, Kid’ gave us a chance to showcase a relaxed side of the band’s personality. With our love for ‘80s nostalgia, we decided to approach the treatment in a John Hughes or Steven Spielberg type fashion, allowing the spirit of youth and camaraderie to shine in each frame.”
The clip, which was directed by DJay Brawner (Refused, Grouplove), follows the band while taking down a group of school bullies through a series of pranks. The band's new album "The Color Before The Sun" will drop October 16, 2015 through 300 Entertainment. More...
Coheed and Cambria has revealed the cover and track list for forthcoming album, "The Color Before The Sun," due out Oct. 9 via 300 Entertainment.
The cover, which features a serene lake with a house disintegrating into the sky, was created by Nick Steinhardt (Touche Amore, Deafheaven) and reflects the story behind the ten-song album.
"The Color Before The Sun" marks the first time Coheed and Cambria's Claudio Sanchez is exposing his raw feelings, narrated from his own perspective – the anxiety of fatherhood, the disorienting feeling of losing a home, the reflections had during early-morning walks. His own story is told through big, bright, driving, colorful songs that beam like power-pop, crunch like vintage ‘90s emocore and float with the expansive feel of space-rock.
Pre-orders for the album are up now at this location and the disc's full track listing is as follows:
4. Here To Mars
7. Young Love
8. You Got Spirit, Kid
9. The Audience
10. Peace To The Mountain More...
After singing Justice Scalia's dissent over marriage equality, Coheed and Cambria will release new album "The Color Before The Sun" on October 9th via 300 Entertainment.
The band is giving fans an early listen, streaming the song and lyrics for “You Got Spirit, Kid” below, with the digital download of the single available globally on July 10th.
"The Color Before The Sun" is the outfit’s eighth studio album and first non-conceptual release, with the previous offerings forming the larger story of The Amory Wars, a science fiction saga depicting the story of Coheed and Cambria Kilgannon. "The Color Before The Sun" was recorded at St. Charles Studio in Nashville, and produced by Jay Joyce (Cage The Elephant, Eric Church).
"I kind of want people to know that Coheed can write that sort of record," explained Claudio Sanchez of the album’s departure from The Amory Wars. "I've always said in the past that there's never been a limitation on the band. It makes no sense to me to draw a line in the sand and never cross it."
300 Entertainment co-founder Lyor Cohen offers, “Coheed and Cambria have created a lane and legacy for themselves that is very much their own. Their DIY approach fits the ethos of 300. They’ve taken some brave artistic steps on this forthcoming new album and we are looking forward to sharing it with the world.” More...

Vocalist Bruce Dickinson had the following comments on the tour:
We have great fun playing the History of Maiden Tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalogue. It’s always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before, and of course we know our longstanding fans will enjoy seeing the original Seventh Son Tour re-visited - with many other surprises! Our intention is to play about two thirds of the original track list of Maiden England (shown below*), including some songs we have not played live in a very, very long time, plus other favourites we just know the fans are going to want to hear! We always try to give our fans a great show musically, but we have always tried to make it as entertaining and memorable an experience as we can visually. And we all feel this show is going to do that splendidly! We can't wait to get started in Charlotte.More...
Bald Freak Music, label for New Jersey progressive rock/metal act Return To Earth, has just issued the following press release:
"Accomplished & influential drummer Chris Pennie, founding member of Dillinger Escape Plan and current member of progressive rock acts Coheed And Cambria and Return To Earth, announced today that he is exiting Coheed And Cambria. Pennie and the band cited 'creative differences' as the primary reasons for the split after the drummer’s 4-year tenure with the band.
"Pennie officially joined Coheed in 2007, replacing drummer Josh Eppard and touring extensively with the band internationally. He is featured on Coheed’s most recent studio album, 'Year of the Black Rainbow.'
"Pennie will shift his full attention to his most recent projects, acclaimed progressive metal band Return To Earth (Metal Blade/Bald Freak) and Fight Mannequins. Return To Earth is currently working on their third album after releasing their Metal Blade debut, Automata, in 2010. Fight Mannequins, Pennie’s music production company with Return To Earth guitarist Brett Aveni, recently completed their first documentary score and have produced two exciting artists whose albums will be released in 2012.
"'I am very thankful for the times I shared the stage with the guys in Coheed and especially want to thank the amazing, supportive fans that I've met while on tour,' said Pennie. 'There are a lot of exciting projects on the horizon in addition to Return To Earth and Fight Mannequins that I feel require 100 percent of my commitment and attention. I feel that this is the right time to make that happen.'"
