"We're happy to finally let the cat out of the bag that we've inked a deal with Season of Mist. As many of you know, yet some of you may not, Andrew, Shane and I (Jesse) recorded our 5th record, and SoM debut, 'Entrench' with Matt Bayles ( Mastodon, ISIS, The Sword) this past fall in Winnipeg, MB, Canada which will see the light of day on CD and digitally on March 19th, 2013 (March 15th in Europe) with the vinyl edition to follow shortly thereafter.
"With 'Entrench' we have expanded in both our handling of dynamics and general song and album craftsmanship, utilizing piano, keyboards, and strings to build on our classic power trio format. Additionally, the band has also reached out to pillars of the sub-sub-sub genre, with guest vocal contributions provided by Dave Verellen (Botch/NARROWS) and Tim Singer ( Deadguy/Kiss It Goodbye), adding another layer of icing to the metallic-hardcore-noise-rock-whatever-core cake we've baked.

Metalsucks.net has now issued the following announcement about confirming Pig Destroyer for an upcoming showcase in New York:
"So recently all of us dudes from MetalSucks, Metal Injection, and 1000 Knives were sitting around smoking peyote out of a dead mule’s skull (y’know, like you do) when someone was all, Dudes! Our CMJ Showcase last year was pretty much THE BEST PARTY EVER. All of the bands were AMAZING. Skeletonwitch SLAYED. Kvelertak played their first NYC show EVER and DESTROYED. Hell, we wrecked that joint so bad that we weren’t even invited back this year, and one of us actually had to move to the other side of the country just to hide! How are we ever gonna top it???“ And then someone else was like, What if we got PIG DESTROYER to play THEIR FIRST NEW YORK-AREA SHOW IN MORE THAN THREE YEARS?
"And so that’s what we did!
"You read that correctly: Pig Destroyer, the best grindcore band on the face of the planet, are going to play their first and ONLY New York-area show in more than three years at The Third Annual MetalSucks / Metal Injection / 1000 Knives CMJ Showcase on Thursday, October 18 at Public Assembly in Brooklyn — just days before the release of their incredible new album, Book Burner! And they ain’t comin’ alone: support will be provided by KEN Mode, Early Graves, and Encrust. Holy moly, did we put together a ridiculously great show or what? You’re all very welcome. More...

"Writing up a storm with Andrew here in Winnipeg. Currently working out the details to record a 12 song full length and two split releases with epically rad bands in September. Get stoked, this new material oppressively heavy in some spots, pretty in all the right places, and punk as fuck in others."
Further details on these upcoming releases will be announced as they are made available. In the mean time, you can stream the band's "Reprisal" and "Mennonite" albums at this location.
South By Southwest 2012 maintained its tradition of billing a long list of heavy bands from an assortment of styles. Attendees began pouring in from every corner of the globe on the previous Friday to experience the interactive and film portion of the city-wide festival. Even though I attended a free show at Emo’s East featuring High on Fire, our coverage begins with Wednesday’s usual sonic circus.
Torn between the Thrasher/Converse Death Match Day Party at Scoot Inn and Pitchfork’s Show No Mercy show at ND, I opted for the Pitchfork show. The Thrasher show included legendary hardcore punk acts Fear and Cro-Mags as well as Nachtmystium, but I chose the doomed tones of Rwake, Pallbearer and Pilgrim at the Pitchfork.com show. More...
