KEN Mode Shares Its "Success"

Winnipeg power trio KEN Mode is streaming new album "Success" online ahead of its North American release on June 16th. Listen in below. Regarding the new album, KEN Mode front man Jesse Matthewson comments:

"Some of you are going to love this, some of you are going to hate it. This is a time warp for us, back to a simpler time; to when we were 15 and excited to be listening to Nirvana, Cop Shoot Cop, the VSS, Drive Like Jehu, and Circus Lupus - and NOT fitting in with anyone we knew.

"This is the record we as a band needed to make, and as an artist, it is the most proud I am of any piece of art I have been a part of making, both sonically and visually. People will file these things where they want, so pigeon-hole away." More...

KEN Mode Pays Tribute To Dead Actors

KEN mode is now streaming a fourth brand new song taken from forthcoming sixth full-length "Success," which has been scheduled for a June 15th release (June 16th in North America). The power trio from Winnipeg, Canada is streaming "Dead Actors" below.

"The song 'Dead Actors' is our tribute to both 90's indie rock and to the duality of the meaningfulness of conscious existence; it's self-aware almost to a fault," reveals frontman Jesse Matthewson. "We were trying to take the feeling of Slint, June Of 44, maybe a dash of Dazzling Killmen, Engine Kid, and even Soundgarden and filter it through Manitoban wheat grass. For some reason it feels very 'Canadian Prairies' to me, and I really like that."

KEN mode recorded "Success" with engineer Steve Albini to capture the material in a fully live and analogue session in the band's hometown in November 2014. The track listing is as follows: More...

Housecore Horror Film Festival Day 3

A good night’s sleep and mild weather helped me catch a second wind on the fifth consecutive day of metal concerts. I watched NWOBHM legends Satan at Beerland on Wednesday, the day before HHFF kick-off party. The sun’s rays dimmed just a little due to Superjoint Ritual backdrop and a breeze gave us some relief while catching the bands on the Midway stage. For me, today’s activities didn’t start there, though, it started at the Grindhouse tent located around the side of Emo’s. More...

Satyricon Drops Off Housecore Horror Film Festival

We regret to inform everyone that Norwegian black metal legends Satryicon will no longer be able to perform at this year's Housecore™ Horror Film Festival. The band explained via its official Facebook page:

"Dear U.S fans. We regret to inform that Satyricon will not perform at Knotfest in San Bernardino, CA and Horror Fest in Austin, TX in October 2014. The reasons for not being able to perform at these two festivals are both pragmatic ones and entirely different from each other.

"Satyricon will now shift its attention towards the writing of a new album, re-editing the footage from the 'Live at the Opera' live album/DVD and another project that will be announced at a later stage. It is important for the band that the U.S fans understand that you are far from forgotten and that the band look forward to come over for a full scale U.S tour as soon as it is possible.
