"Unholy Savior," the new album from Battle Beast, will launch via Nuclear Blast on January 9th in Europe and January 13th in North America. Guitarist / vocalist Anton Kabanen comments:
"I thirst to go further as a human being, and the music on this album represents a part of the ongoing spiritual journey - that's what I tend to call it - which is my road onward. Music-wise the songs have been expanded to a wider area as an effort to call out emotions close to those I had myself during the times of birth of these songs.
"Like always, I wrote songs about a manga and anime series 'Berserk,' as well, and the reason behind writing songs about that particular series is that I can strongly relate to that, especially to certain characters and to their way of thinking and feeling."
The track listing is as follows:
2. Unholy Savior
3. I Want The World….And Everything In It
5. Sea Of Dreams
6. Speed And Danger
7. Touch In The Night
8. The Black Swordsman
9. Hero’s Quest
10. Far Far Away
11. Angel Cry More...
THURSDAY, 6/27 - 13:30
Unmistakable, husky German accent behind me. I glance over my shoulder, turn, step aside the river of disembarking passengers from the Lufthansa Airbus parked out in the drizzly gray. The veteran green-fatigue-jacketed metalhead, balding, sporting a life-without-parole graying goatee, sticks out his hand.
“Holger. Nuclear Blast.” We shake, he grins and nods at the Testament logo above my lapel, only partially obscured by my boarding pass. He slips me a company card - “Holger Tiefenbach, Distribution & Marketing” - and lifts a finger toward a sign down the corridor: “Matkatavarat.” Luggage.
As we stride through Finland’s Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, locate the carousel for Flight 848 from Frankfurt, and wait for our suitcases to materialize - I was forced to check mine at the last minute and have since developed acute missing-luggage paranoia - Holger brings me up to speed on our shared reason for being here: Tuska Open Air Metal Festival, sixteen years running, 2014 edition set to kick off tomorrow afternoon.
“It used to be held in Kaisaniemi Park, right in the middle of the city. It was the greatest. You’d show up, basically have an afternoon at the park, and then head straight to the bars nearby, when the sun was just barely set.” He seems to almost sigh while tossing off a plaintive, what-are-you-gonna-do shrug. “They moved the location three, four years ago.”
“So it’s not as much fun now?” I want to get my finger on the pulse of conventional wisdom.
He’s quick to clarify. “It’s still awesome. The new location just took some getting used to.” On our painless stroll through the open doorway that passes for an immigration barrier - the stamps and stern looks and “papers, please” stuff was handled back in Germany, natch - Holger gives an inside view of current happenings back at the Nuclear Blast bunker.
“We spent a lot of time promoting that Tuomas Holopainen solo album - the one about Scrooge McDuck,” he tells me. I haven’t heard it, and ask him how it is. “Not metal. That’s how it is,” he chuckles. “But cool if you’re into that wacky stuff, like the last Nightwish album.
“And we signed Slayer!” He clenches a victorious fist like a kid receiving his BB gun on Christmas. “Finally.”
We’ve reached the Arrivals lobby, and a leather-jacketed brunette gives a wave. Rachel Roth (WandererOfKalevala), Metalunderground.com photographer and correspondent, currently residing in Vantaa. We have a bus to catch, and before parting ways with Holger, I bum a cigarette, pocketing the e-cig I’ve been abusing for two months.
I make a half-hearted promise to myself not to do this too much during Tuska (and not to beat myself up for doing just that). Rationalization is still the great human sport. More...

For the upcoming new record "Heroes," Swedish heavy metal institution Sabaton now reveals the different track listings, including all the bonus tracks that will be available.
Among them are three cover versions of Metallica, Battle Beast, and Raubtier.
"Heroes" will be released on May 16th, 2014 via Nuclear Blast. The band comments on the bonus tracks:
"METALLICA - ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls:' All of us are old fans of Metallica The choice of the song was difficult, but we all could agree on that one. As an addition, ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’ was the first heavy metal song ever performed on a stage by Pär.
"BATTLE BEAST - ‘Out Of Control:' Battle Beast was our secret guest at our latest Sabatoncruise and we all enjoyed watching them perform their songs live. We thought we wanted to support young and upcoming bands and decided to do a cover of them.
"RAUBTIER - ‘En Hjältes Väg:' Raubtier are our brothers from the north of Sweden. We have played together countless times and in the past, and Thobbe used to be in this band. At a special concert in 2012 Joakim performed this song live together with Raubtier and it awoke the idea of doing a cover-version. Seeing to the song title it was also a natural choice for our latest album "Heroes.'"

The weekend festivities of the second and third day of Tuska started a bit later for me, but still managed to start with a bang that resounded for the whole weekend! With a lineup a bit less intense then the first day, there was a lot of room to really observe performances and finally get that summer festival feeling. Both days featured very different genres, but as always with Tuska, there is truly something for everyone, even if that something is as simple as ice cold cider and a cool breeze on a hot day. Finnish metal act Battle Beast has parted ways with vocalist Nitte Valo, who suddenly left the band via email on August 19, 2012. The band announced her replacement as Noora Louhimo. In addition, the band will tour Europe this fall with Sonata Arctica. The full announcement reads:
"Let’s start with the real beef: Nitte Valo has left the band.
"August 19th Nitte sent the rest of the band an e-mail stating that she was leaving the band, effect immediately. As the reason for her leaving she recited her will to focus on her family life. As this happened without any prior notice, the rest us were slightly disappointed.
But what’s done is done, and we’re thrilled to announce the new BATTLE BEAST vocalist with a voice and character to take the band to heights of glory.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we give you NOORA LOUHIMO
"This young singer is already experienced in performing some of the most demanding rock songs in existence and is now ready to take her big step into the metal world. With lungs of leather and a voice to order gods with, Noora possesses all the requirements to deliver the kind of power needed for performing BATTLE BEAST’s music. Don’t believe us? "World conquest, you ask? Well, that leads us to our second topic. More...
