Sunday Old School: Brides of Destruction

During 2002, the rock and roll landscape was bleak for eighties veterans. Given this, it makes perfect sense that if Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue) and Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns) decided to put together a band the name should be Cockstar, the original name for their super group later renamed Brides of Destruction. More...

Quiet Riot Part Ways With Guitarist Tracii Guns

Less than a month after announcing the addition of guitarist Tracii Guns (BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION, ex-L.A. GUNS) to the group's ranks, QUIET RIOT have issued a statement confirming that Guns will, in fact, no longer be a member of the band. The statement reads as follows:

"Although we all had high hopes and the best intentions for the success of our association, it became evident collective that the musical diversity of styles would not work to our mutual satisfaction. Rather than go into the recording studio unsure of the outcome, QUIET RIOT and Tracii Guns have decided to amicably part company but remain friends and hold each other in the highest respect.

"QUIET RIOT will still enter the studio in late January to record new songs for the next studio release, the first new material from the band since the release of 'Guilty Pleasures' in 2001.

"Look for QUIET RIOT on tour upon completion of the new recordings."

Brides of Destruction's 'White Trash' Video Online

BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION's video for the track "White Trash" has been posted online at Yahoo! Music. The clip was shot on August 20 at the Lake Castaic mobile home storage facility.

"White Trash" comes off the band's sophomore album, "Runaway Brides", available now on Shrapnel Records.

The follow-up to last year's "Here Come the Brides", "Runaway Brides" was recorded in part at a studio in Malibu, California with producer Andy Johns, who has previously worked with guitarist Tracii Guns on the L.A. GUNS' "Waking the Dead" album (which Guns has referred to as "my favorite L.A. GUNS record."). Johns was reportedly involved with the album during its early recording stages but ended up leaving the project due to unspecified differences with Guns and the rest of the band.

BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION's current lineup includes former AMEN bassist Scott Sorry (replacing MÖTLEY CRÜE's Nikki Sixx).

Brides Of Destruction Mixing New Album

BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION have finished recording their sophomore album, tentatively titled "13 Acres", and are scheduled to begin mixing the effort today (May 1) for a summer release via Sanctuary Records.

The follow-up to last year's "Here Come the Brides", "13 Acres" was recorded in part at a studio in Malibu, California with producer Andy Johns, who has previously worked with guitarist Tracii Guns on the L.A. GUNS' "Waking the Dead" album (which Guns has referred to as "my favorite L.A. GUNS record."). Johns was reportedly involved with the album during its early recording stages but ended up leaving the project due to unspecified differences with Guns and the rest of the band.

Commented Tracii: "This record overall is a lot heavier than I expected musically, and I think that London [LeGrand, vocals], without taking a ton of direction from 'outside sources,' sounds stunningly amazing and original, except on 'So Long', which [drummer Scot Coogan] sings. More so than our first record we were able to really take everybody in the band's collective influences and explode through with a solid identity and a healthy dose of adrenaline that will make this an excellent record to get speeding tickets to while listening in your vehicle."

"13 Acres" track listing (in no particular order):

01. White Trash
02. Dead Man's Ruin
03. Blown Away
04. Brothers
05. So Long
06. Porcelain Queen
07. Never Say Never
08. Tunnel of Love
09. White Horse
10. Lord of the Mind
11. Next Time Around
12. Criminal
13. Dimes from Heaven

Wildhearts Member Comments On Joining Brides

The following was posted to the WILDHEARTS email list by guitarist GINGER, who recently joined BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION, the band recently vacated by MOTLEY CRUE guitarist NIKKI SIXX:

I have been offered the job playing second guitar, as well as helping write the new album, for The Brides Of Destruction. This does not mean that The Wildhearts are over, it just means that I am going through a traumatic time of my life and need a break from being the frontman/chief in charge.

My spirits are low and my performance as a lead singer would not be worth the admission fee, believe me. I cannot stop playing music however, and the offer to join The Brides has come at a time where I desperately need to concentrate on something to help me cope, both mentally and emotionally. Tracii and the guys have been so kind to me, and I am more than grateful for their friendship and encouragement.

If everyone can kindly allow me the time to heal I would be grateful for the considerate approach to this most unfortunate of times for me. I trust I can count on the fans for support, as opposed to knee jerk opinions and malicious gossip.

Thank you, and never take advantage of the love that you have in your life.
Ginger

Brides of Destruction To Move Forward

BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION guitarist Tracii Guns has posted the following message in the "Talk Shit" section of the band's official website (www.BridesOfDestruction.com):

"Ok,
I am back,,,, the Brides are back.

I have had great talks with London and Scot and we have decided to move forward with THE BRIDES. We are gonna take it slow and make sure we get the right guy to fill in for Nikki. As you know Nikki has to leave for now and their is a possibility that he may not ever come back to the Brides so, whether or not the new bass player is temporary or not we have to choose assuming that he will be a permanent member of the Brides brotherhood.

We are finishing up the new songs right now. As soon as we find our new brother we will go straight into rehearsal and recording.

As always, this band relys on the support of our fans so, we are open to all suggestions, connections and critics. Feel free to email me at theramin@gmail.com

The wedding is over lets get the reception cookin

Love , Tracii."

Nikki Sixx Says Brides of Destruction Can Go On

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has clarified his current status in BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION and has commented on the recent war of words with his BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION bandmate Tracii Guns, who publicly referred to the new CRÜE single as "shit."

In an online posting, Sixx said, "In thinking back on my great times with Mr. Guns and gang, I have nothing but fond memories... Basically, we kicked major ass together... so now we try to kick each other's ass... Ah… the simple life… just like green acres (from hell)… so let me put it to you in a nutshell. More...

N. Sixx: Motley Crue's About Doing The Unexpected

Motley Crue and Brides of Destruction bassist Nikki Sixx posted the following message to the "Diary" section of Crue's official web site: "Today we were hanging out and Tommy [Lee] said something that made a lot of sense to us. He said, 'You know, sometimes you go into something thinking it's gonna be the way it used to be, but when you finally get there, it's not what you expected.' On that note… I think it's fair to say we've been having a good time getting our feet wet. Thanks for the support on 'If I Die Tomorrow'. We feel it's a breath of fresh air for us. We've always been about doing the unexpected. So what's next? Live?"

'The Heroin Diaries' Inspires Nikki Sixx

Motley Crue and Brides of Destruction bassist Nikki Sixx posted an update on the Diary section of Crue's official web site. Sixx writes, "I've been locked in my home studio writing music for 'The Heroin Diaries'. I've also been hard at work buttoning up the book [autobiography] (of the same name). All this stuff will come out next year. Very exciting project for me. I've turned my back on Pro Tools and have dived head-on into logic pro 7. A must tool for songwriting. The new Crue songs turned out fu**in killer. Not sure where they will turn up, but like any good splinter, I'm sure they will work themselves out and break through to the surface sometime. Who knows, not me. Mick [Mars] is doing great and sends his love."

Brides Of Destruction To Go On Hiatus

Brides Of Destruction have announced plans to go on hiatus next year while bassist Nikki Sixx concentrates on the MÖTLEY CRÜE reunion tour. In an online posting, Brides Of Destruction guitarist Tracii Guns (ex-L.A. GUNS) wrote, "So, what do Scot, London and I do for the next year. Well, Ill tell ya. We are gonna go tour and write more tunes for the next BRIDES album. Whos gonna play bass?? Well, of course, Stevo Bruno is gonna play bass. As we set out on our journey we will not be called the Brides Of Destruction. We will probably be called something like TRACII GUNS' COCKSTAR or THE STUPID FUCKS or something like that. So youll be hearing some BRIDES tunes and some GUNS hits and some other junk as well. For now this is the plan. As we all know plans can change but this is what we want to do."

Motley Crue Complete New Demos

Here's an update from Nikki Sixx:

Well, Stevo Bruno at Klown Records and I have finished up the production on the Motley demos. I feel real strong about the songs. They're on their way to Bob Rock to get his input. I look forward to re-recording the songs now that everybody will have a clear understanding of the direction of the music.

Next up is finishing the writing for the Brides. Me and Tracii have so much music, now we just need to finish what weve started.

My book deal for "The Heroin Diaries" is done. I changed publishers half way thru the deal and am now with Simon & Schuster. There will be a DVD attached to the release of it which will feature original music. So to say I have a busy next few months is a understatment.

I have hired the top litigator who I am using to sue Vans to dropkick Dragonfly Clothing as well. Can you believe I have to do this shit to get paid? I seem to attract people who believe they can take advantage of me, but like Elektra Records found out.. I have the devil runnin' thru my veins and I will not allow people to rip me off.

You must stand up for yourself if you wanna have any self-respect in business. But to be honest, it really sucks and isnt my idea of being an artist. But artists must stand up for themselves...or these companies will continue to rip off artists.
