The Black Dahlia Murder Announces Headline Tour

After releasing new album "Abysmal" last year and headlining both part I and part II of the massive IndieMerch Tour, The Black Dahlia Murder has announced another headlining trek.

With Fallujah and Disentomb as support, the band plans to play first full-length "Unhallowed" (2003) in its entirety during the run, performing at intimate venues across the USA that haven't seen The Black Dahlia Murder since that debut was released.

Trevor Strnad (vocals) comments: "We are very excited to unleash this absolutely crushing line-up upon you all and to play the much requested 'Unhallowed' album in its entirety. The songs are sounding better than ever before, and we can't wait for you to feast your ears on our debut album as it was meant to be heard. We will also be playing some bangers from our new album, 'Abysmal', and the rest of the catalog...Come out and bring your friends!"

Brandon Ellis will join The Black Dahlia Murder on the road as the band's touring guitarist and replacement for Ryan Knight, who amicably parted ways with the group.

In regards to his departure, Ryan Knight comments: "After nearly 7 years with The Black Dahlia Murder, I feel the time has come for me to step down and focus on other aspects of my life. The decision to leave was very difficult, yet necessary I feel for me to ultimately be happy and keep moving forward. I feel very lucky to have had the best band-mates/crew (past and present) to traverse the world, guzzle beers, and bring the rock with every night...Thank you guys <3, I'd like to give a HUGE thank you to all our fans for being so cool to me over the years, and all the hardworking people over at Metal Blade Records for their support, and general badassery. In the meantime, I'll still be teaching guitar, working on new music, and just getting pretty domestic in general. Thanks again!" More...

SXSW 2015 Day Two: South By South Death

Metalsucks.net's South By South Death showcase featured guitar shredders. Tech death bands Archspire and Allegaeon were in full force, but before they hammered out their first blast beats, a different kind of shredder took the stage. Myrone is a one-man guitar virtuoso hailing out of Los Angeles, California. The sole member of Myrone was similar to Buckethead in that he wore a mask. Many of the long notes he held was reminiscent of Joe Satriani. He later admitted to me that Satriani is a major influence. He played his guitar over top of ‘80s style keyboard samples, which were part of a soundtrack to a video game.

Fallujah Signs With Nuclear Blast

Nuclear Blast Entertainment has announced the signing of progressive death metal outfit Fallujah. The band hailing from San Francisco Bay Area caused quite a stir amongst the music world with it's 2014 release "The Flesh Prevails."

It topped several "Best of 2014" lists and won over new fans with the band's fresh, emotive, and technically challenging music. As a result, Fallujah has paved the way for a new melodic and atmospheric perspective on death metal.

Says Fallujah: "We're extremely excited to be part of a roster alongside not just great bands, but great people who are dedicated to the craft and enthusiastic about our vision of where we see Fallujah going,"

Adds Nuclear Blast: "Fallujah is all about pushing the envelope, taking risks, and keeping an open mind. With that mentality, we felt Nuclear Blast was the most obvious and logical step for a band such as ours. With our team behind us, we can't wait to see Fallujah grow." More...
